So we just had our wedding here locally and let me speak my mind ..
Tile in the bathroom fell off and hit my foot .
Toilet paper holder fell off the wall to the floor
Stairs going up it is missing wood and when u step on it feels like u are going to fall. It’s covered up with a carpet . Not safe not smart specially, if the bride is wearing heels and walking down your terrible stairway
Room service only starts affected 11am
No safe in at all
No ice in room only an empty bucket .
If you want ice, you have to walk all the way back to the main building. Ask the bartender hopefully he’s around to give you ice and then walk another 1/2 block back. Hey, if you forget your bucket, you’ll have to go back and get it.
Wale up caller took info down and never got a wale up call when. We were supposed to
Room fridge was warm nobody was sent over to look at it
honestly, my wife wants to have the anniversary here again in the bridal suite but after this experience, we both agree it’s not gonna happen

We only ate lunch for my brother in laws birthday, we didn't stay in any rooms. We are local, from Port Jeff.
The food was great, the environment was good, and the service was great.
The only thing I would change is the Sangria. They tasted like flavored water. Very watered down and couldn't taste any liquor in them. We actually ordered 3 carafes (2 white, 1 red) and were disappointed but it wouldn't stop us from returning. We just won't order the Sangria.

Decided to check out Danford’s with my girlfriend for our second anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised. The dining area was welcoming, giving us a nice view of the water. The food was alright, definitely a bit overpriced, but the highlight of the experience was the service. Our server Natalie was amazing, ensuring we had everything we could possibly want or need. She was a constant friendly smile, joking and laughing with us until we walked out the door.

Had a great experience with the Danford. Held a business meeting over 2 days. Staff and accommodations were terrific. Location is amazing (on the water, great views) the town of Port Jefferson is a great for restaurants as well. Can't wait to return

My boyfriend and I just checked in for the night for our one year anniversary. When we attempted to enter our room the door would not open and we heard screaming coming from the inside. We were scared of being attacked so we ran away to hide behind a nearby brick wall (the room was facing the outdoors) and called the front desk.
They sounded bored and annoyed with us and didn’t come to the scene for a solid 10 minutes. Within that time the man had left the room and unknowingly walked past us, threw a small plastic bag into a nearby dumpster, and walked away into town. By the time the front desk got there, since he was gone, they did NOT believe us. This was probably because we are both young-ish (25) and were underdressed compared to the usual clientele (sweatpants and slides). We were moved to another nearby room but were not upgraded. They were extremely rude to us and accused us of lying several times. They even refused to check the cameras. This was a heartbreaking and a terrifying start to our trip.
Overall the area is beautiful but the service was horrible. It is located in the heart of a busy downtown village and could attract all
kinds of unsafe people from
the general public. Know that if any kind of emergency were to happen, this hotel would not take good care of you.
Furthermore, the building we were moved to has an active construction site on the ground floor accessible from the elevator with no signs or safety precautions. Completely disturbing and definitely a violation of several building codes.

I planned my boyfriends 50th birthday at danfords, and Gianna and Gabriela were amazing at assisting and guiding me through the process, they were patient, understanding and very warm people to work with. They exceeded my expectation and went above and beyond! I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER with how everything turned out! They were very timely with there responses and made me feel like I was the only one they were working with.
In addition Daisy who was our hostess of the party ensured everything was set up properly and took care of running the show, I am beyond happy with the turn out of my evening!

Disappointing Experience with Front Desk Employee
I was having a good time during my visit at this Hotel until my unpleasant encounter with one of the front desk employees, Jamie or Jamy not sure. When we approached her about a missing parking ticket from our motorcycle that had been taken out, she dismissed us immediately without offering any assistance or possible solutions. Her response to us was very unprofessional stating, "There's nothing I can do about it. You have to pay for your parking ticket, that's it," and she was done with the conversation. This wasn’t the only occasion I witnessed of her being rude to a customer. Jamie also didn’t give any respect to a paying customer before us who didn’t speak fluent English. All the other employees were helpful and pleasant, however, Jamie stood out as a fat exception. Her behavior was unacceptable, and she should be reprimanded. Clearly, she is in the wrong profession if she cannot provide basic courtesy and assistance to guests. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously to ensure such incidents do not tarnish the reputation of the otherwise wonderful staff at the Danford and Marina Hotel.

Great rooms and super convenient location. It would get the usual 5 star I would give but one person at the front desk really ruined the day. Her name is Jamie, PS. I overheard her dealing with another customer and if you don't speak english, she is not going to be kind to you. I asked her a simple question about parking as my pass had been taken off my motorcycle. She had a nasty attitude for such a simple question. It only takes a moment to be kind, thats just simple customer service.
Edit: The manager addressed the problem immediately as we were checking out. And gave sincere apologies on behalf the employee.

I recently stayed at Danfords Hotel and Marina in Port Jefferson, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. From the moment of arrival, it was evident that the hospitality touted by the establishment was sorely lacking.
Upon arrival, my party and I were greeted with a cold indifference that set the tone for the remainder of our stay. Despite the presence of valet attendants, there was a lack of clarity regarding their role, leaving us to discover, much to our dismay, that they were not there to assist hotel guests but were exclusively hired for a special event. This confusion was emblematic of the overall disorganization and lack of communication that plagued our visit.
The ordeal continued as we were informed that parking would be a challenge due to Port Jefferson's policies. While I understand that parking constraints are beyond the hotel's control, the manner in which this information was conveyed was nothing short of rude and dismissive. We were directed to a municipal lot, only to find it woefully inadequate, leaving us to fend for ourselves in a frustrating search for parking.
Adding insult to injury, there was no assistance offered with our luggage, forcing us to lug our belongings across the street to a separate building unaided. It was only through the kindness of fellow hotel guests, including a gentleman in his 70s and another sympathetic individual, that we received any assistance at all. This lack of basic amenities and courtesy is unacceptable for any establishment claiming to provide a comfortable and welcoming experience.
Despite our attempts to address these issues with the management, our concerns fell on deaf ears. The manager, Gary Tucker, was conspicuously unavailable both during our stay and at checkout. Despite assurances of follow-up and compensation, his actions – or lack thereof – speak volumes about his disregard for guest satisfaction. Multiple attempts to reach him post-stay have been met with silence, further underscoring the apathy that permeates this establishment.
In conclusion, my stay at Danfords was marred by incompetence, indifference, and a blatant disregard for customer service. While I acknowledge that certain factors, such as parking limitations, are beyond the hotel's control, the manner in which these challenges were handled reflects poorly on the establishment's management and staff. I had hoped for a pleasant experience but instead found myself deeply disappointed and disillusioned. Regrettably, I cannot in good conscience recommend Danfords Hotel and Marina and will not be returning in the future.

Great place to come for lunch or dinner. Sitting outside having a drink with friends and fam is always a great time, plus you are doing it in a beautiful backdrop overlooking the sound. So, if u want to come for day drinking, or dinner, they will have something for you!

Great place to get away from it all. The food, service and location are top notch. Everything about it is TOP NOTCH! A playground for the rich that people like me (lower middle income) can enjoy every so often too. They have an outside bar on the marina with live entertainment as well.
Nearby activities: Great restaurants and quaint stores and boutiques right down the block (easily walkable).
Walkability: Everything is close by. There are two main blocks with lots of stores and boutiques right across from the hotel.
Food & drinks: The food is outstanding. This is a place for wedding receptions and it also has a few little villas for smaller parties and another reception hall up the road complete with golf course and stunning views of the ocean.
