Been attempting to use this vet with my dog for over 4 years now, but the office staff is horrendously disrespectful and rude. Really don’t seem empathetic to animals. Are always visibly making fun of people behind the window. Not helpful when calling and desperately need help for your pet. Had no issue with the owner (vet) always satisfactory service. But some of the other vets seem indecisive, unknowledgeable, really could use some additional training for differential diagnostics. They don’t even do basic care for sick visits, like take a temperature. Rooms aren’t clean, often there’s no vet tech. It’s disappointing and honestly dangerous to you pets. Would love to speak with the owner about the concerns, but again, some of the staff as discussed… I really hope they correct things before someone gets hurt.

Accommodating, thorough, attentive! We could not ask for anything more. Such a breath of fresh air after many frustrating experiences with other vets.

I have been bringing my cats to Jefferson Animal Hospital since 1981 and I have always been happy with the medical care that they received. Thank You!!!!

The service I recieved today for my carpet python was second to none. Was able to get a same day appointment and Dr. Brian took his time to thoroughly exam the snake and explain everything he was seeing. Extremely reasonably priced as well. Couldn't recommend this place and their staff enough.

Excellent veterinarians and the staff.. I love Brian and his brother, they show empathy and really do care about you and your pets. Well knowledgeable about exotics, I bring my rabbit there and I trust them fully..

Please be careful when getting quotes for Rabbit procedures from them..I got a quote for a possible tooth trimming for my bunny..Was quoted 700.00 from Dr. Brian..No not a misprint..I then asked again to check with his brother Dr. Jeff because he does the surgeries, and that was a ridiculous quote, and he came back again with $700.00..I was taking my Bunny there a lot at the time, and they knew I would do anything for him, and I feel they were trying to take advantage of my love for my pet..I went to Catnip and Carrots and they did the tooth trimming for $100.00. ..I also find the staff at Jefferson incompetent many times forgetting to give me my medications such as pain meds for my Bunny's operation..and Dr. Jeff's vet tech rude when speaking to her on the phone..Most likely the one forgetting my Buns mediactions..The LI Rabbit Rescue recommends only three vets on LI..I would truley recommend this place being your last resort..They aren't experienced with Rabbits like the other 2 places recommended...When you leave your Bunny over night there there is no one there at night watching the animals..Not even a video Cam to check up on them to see if they are okay..The other 2 places your bunny is watched 24-7.. I also once asked Dr. Brian about Rabbits eating too much fruit, and he said they can eat as much fruit as they want..HUH!!! Of course that doesn't sound right which makes me question his Rabbit experience ..Unfortunately when it comes to Rabbit experienced vets on LI they are very few and far between, and Dr Rose's are more experienced then most, but not the most experienced, and I would visit the other two vets first..My personal favorite..Catnip and Carrots..They put their love for Rabbits above everything else, and their prices are very fair, they don't take advantage, and try to rip you off.. They are very professional with the nicest staff...It is a very different atmosphere then Jefferson Animal Hospital..
UPDATE as of 9-1-24.
Long Island Rabbit Rescue no longer has them down on their site as a recommendation.

My daughter trusted Dr Brian with her senior cat Kittles after we moved from Huntington several years ago. When I got a cancer scare for my Pomapoo Abigail I went straight to him. He took care of her and I trust him implicitly. As she came to her final journey recently, he and the amazing staff were so caring and gentle. It made it easier to let go (still hurt). I recently adopted two 5 month old brother and sister Cavapoo pups. And they have their appointment set with him. Can’t wait for Izzie and Leo to meet everyone :-)….

Sophie is our 2 year old rescued cat. We moved from MA to Mount Sinai 2 months ago and I was recommended to Jefferson Animal Clinic by a new neighbor. I read about the three Veterinarians at the clinic, their professional training and education, and decided to make an appointment for Sophie. We met Dr. Jeff and l was very pleased and happy with his thoroughness and professional manner. His staff was friendly and welcoming as well. The clinic also has boarding facilities which is what l was especially looking for in case we went away or needed a place to board Sophie on short notice. Nothing better than being near one’s doctor. I believe we made a good choice.

I really like Dr Rose and the vet techs here. Staff seem happy. It’s a small space and the wait time can be long, but the great care outweigh those cons.

Brought my dog here, was told my dog had a previous injury, sent out bloodwork and X-ray and was told everything was fine. Just a slight fracture. A month later she is now dead. Thanks Jefferson animal hospital for everything. Never going here again.

I understand the practice is very busy. But when you plead with the receptionists to ask Dr. Brian to see my senior rabbit whose blind and can no longer suddenly walk if he can fit me in and they just flat out say no is very sad and comes from a disheartening place in the morals of the practice. I have pleaded and pleaded for them to fit me in and to not even try to consult with him makes me very upset especially because I trust Dr Brian the most and I know it may be the last hope I have before my rabbit might have to cross the rainbow bridge. We all know on the island that there are very few exotic vets that are trust worthy and have a good sense of direction in care. I have brought many of my pets there and it’s just very upsetting that he can’t fit me in for 7-10 days when the situation is dire and urgent! I understand there are emergency clinics for exotics but there is nothing like going to a trust worthy vet that you have seen for the last five years to give you good care and peace of mind for what may be best for your beloved pet. It’s just very unfortunate ! I know you’ll tell me in reply to call the practice but I tried over and over and it’s always “sorry no.”

Thanks Dr. Brian for going above & beyond for us and our Ball Python.
