The Appalachian Market is a staple of Putnam County. The sandwiches are elite, specially the breakfast sandwiches, which can't be compared to any yuppie cold spring bed and breakfast. Sure sometimes the workers are short with you but they deal with serving a very rude, misguided, and abrasive type of New Yorker that resides in the Garrison or Cold Spring area and thinks they are way more important then they actually are. Thankful for this deli

I got a BEC, and my friend got a BLT. I didn't taste his, but he said it wasn't great. My BEC had one egg. For $4. We also got empanadas, and while I'm not certain, I'm pretty sure they were Goyas frozen. Oh, and the staff was rude and pushy. Overall, it was a complete disappointment and waste of money. Don't bother

Not good if you're a vegetarian. Ordered eggplant wrap and found they were spooning sauce from the meatballs onto my wrap because they didn't have any sauce. They were surprised when I said I didn't want meat sauce. They have one vegetarian sandwich on the menu and it really isn't great, sorry and uninspired. I never see anything new. I don't go anymore.

Grill cook runs the grill, writes the order then you pay and bring the receipt. They have hot specials in the lunch hours. Grill/deli is 24/7 Location is at a shell gas convenience store with plenty of snack and beverages. I believe they still attempt to make conveyor belts pizza in the lunch hours *The overnight grill cooks are forever changing here The current one hates his job. I said Hi how are you 3 times before he would respond and with the look of why am I disturbing him. He tried to ignore me while stocking the rolls. Couldn't order a wedge/grinder/hero/hoagie/sub because they only had rolls so I simply ordered a huge ass double cheeseburger (2x8oz) rare. I told him in Spanish as well as English. I look at the grill and both burgers were covered with melting grill tops(like lids to speed up and overcook food) then he opened I've up and started to squeeze the patty. I asked him to stop and explained again I don't want it cooked a lot. He flipped and cooked the patty's several more times while I kept asking him to stop cooking them and add the cheese. I wasn't rude about it yet he looked like " why is this customer trying to tell me how to cook"? End.... Please do t be intimidated by grill cooks. You pay it's not free. This deli mid week is basically the only option overnight. I'll never stop going here and it's crazy busy at times. The food is always fresh and the entire store is always clean. 4 stars for cleanliness 3.5 stars for deli type food .5 stars for the never friendly overnight staff .5 stars for inexperienced staff

I will never stop here ever again. If I ran out of gas in front of this dump I would push my truck somewhere else. Not only are they consistently one of the higher priced gas stations in the area, but they rob you for an extra 10 cents per gallon for using a credit card, which at $4.54 per gallon I imagine most people would use a card. But I have a 36 gallon tank and on a freezing cold, windy night I have to do 2 transactions and then go inside for my receipts because they have an $85 limit per transaction. The guy inside tried to say it was my card, but since I have no limits at other gas stations I know that is not true. I really have nothing good to say about this place.

The Appalachian always seems to be open. A nice place with decent food. Way better food than most gas stations. Probably because its real food, prepared/ cooked. It's worth a stop.

Food used to be the best around but since they stopped being 24/7 the food isn't as fresh as it should be and the quality has now gotten poor. I hope management realizes the blow and fixes the issue.

Good food. I was unaware of the fact that they called themselves Appalachian Market because of location. They intersect with the Appalachian Trail, and that's awesome. So here they have a hot bar/ deli as well as prepackaged foods. Delicious.

DO NOT VISIT !! I always arrive in a good mood and in good spirit to try and change the mood of the employees !! It's like they hate being there they hang up the phone on you before you're finished ordering, and calling back ? FORGET ABOUT IT. They will not answer and hang up on you. They're rude especially the men at night !! The women whom work here are also rude and not helpful. Expect very very, ugly character and horrible attitude when arriving to the Appalachian Mart in garrison, NY ( when they first opened and Pat & Joe whom are the owners actually check on the establishment it was much more pleasant to visit !! )

I stop here once a week in the morning to get one of their empanadas and to fill up my gas tank. I went today for the last time. I was in line. Normally there are two cashiers. I have only seen Hispanic employees. The female cashier was straightening the aisles. There was a male cashier at the register. There were two Hispanic men in the line in front of me and one Hispanic man behind me. I am not Hispanic. The cashier begin looking in my direction and speaking in Spanish. The Hispanic man in front of me, knowing I did not understand Spanish looked me directly in the face and smirked. Meanwhile, the Hispanic man behind me walks up to the register ahead of me and the Hispanic man that had smirked at me begin walking out of the store with his coffee, without paying. I have a problem paying my money to an establishment that gives preferential treatment to Hispanic customers. I will not be going back.

Deli and gas station in an area that does not have much of either. Prices for gas are average for the area and the outside is well lit. Deli inside has everything a gas station convenience store would have from beer to soda and various candy and snacks. Also have a grill and a expansive sandwich menu which can be hit or miss depending on who's cooking. Outside seating as well which is a must these days. Could be cleaner but is a solid spot in the area.
