An absolutely terrible bank who allows people to steal out of your account with checks, knowing that your signatures don’t match and then when you go to do something about it, they tell you that there’s absolutely nothing you can do shut down all your family members accounts and everything with them, and then on top of that they allow automatic payments to still come out after the account Was closed supposedly to the letters that they send you but then they wait six months to close your account

I was very disappointed with M&T with in just a few months after opening a checking account with them. For starters i was able to open a checking account just fine. But then i go into the branch (Perry NY) to open a savings account and i was denied. Do to some issue with Chex Systems which was taken care of. (Inactive account fee from a old bank account) After even showing a paper from the old bank stating it has been paid off and closed. Along with the Chex System report showing the same thing i was still unable to open a savings. So that in its self was discouraging and annoying its self. But then the lady kept saying that my ID was fake!? The same ID they have on file when i opened my checking account with them. As well as the same ID that was used to go get a State level background check!? So safe to say my state issue ID was 100% valid.The following week i had made a few more purchases on amazon. (After making previous amazon purchases in the past) They flagged them as fraudulent activity and had to get the transactions lifted.At one point my account went negative $16 and some change after a purchase i forgot about came out. So when i noticed i transferred $9 and some change from my Venmo and then I I walked to the branch on my way to work and deposited $5 from what i had left to my name. Which made my account -$1 and some change. I explained to the banker that i have set up direct depoist from my new job and next friday it should hit my account. How ever i have a paper check at work waitng for me but you guys will be closed by time i get out of work. She said i would be fine untill monday.Long story short over the weekend they did sevearl reversals on transactions that has all ready been posted. With out me thoroughly checking i only seen that my account was positive $65 +/- so i made a withdraw at the atm to go to a farmers stand and went to the store to get a drink. Sunday my account was + $4/5 Monday how ever it went to -$80+/- and there was a issue with my direct deposit so i left the house early and went and got my check. Being that my check was not enough to cover the account and pay rent they refused to cash it when the check was drawn from there bank as well. So that is when all the issues with the bank started a few days later i gave them my entire check (did not pay rent at all) and gave them my debit card. After they refused to listen or let me explain anything etc. So i believe i did my part and paid for the atm withdraw the drink and the fee from withdrawing money from my account when it was negative. (Even though the atm showed a positive balance and my online bank showed me in the positive as well as there was no warning on the atm that i was making a negative withdraw and would be charged as well.) Due to how rude and aggressive the bankers and the manger are at there Perry branch location i no longer bank with M&T. My account is at a -$14.02 and they refused to close it in order to send me a bill. Like i have stated i no longer will bank with M&T and will never set foot in the Perry branch location. I would have resolved things much better but being how i was treated going into the Perry branch it did not seem like the bank for me. Good luck if you decide to go with them. However your much better going with another company or staying away from the Perry branch location.

The tellers are always nice and very helpful, but we made an appointment to take a name off of one of our accounts. We were told it was all taken care of, that now there was only one name on the account, only to find out months later from another manager that that's not possible. We would have had to close the account and reopen a new one under only one name. So why were we told it was all taken care of if it was impossible from the start? Additionally, during our initial appointment, I was asked inappropriate/personal questions that had no relevance to why we were there. I see no reason why that manager (?) needed to know what my dating life was like. Absolutely inappropriate.

I attempted to change some information on an account and I attempted to move some money out of a securities account. This process began on October 6 and is still not resolved -- almost two months. We received the wrong paperwork, have had to fill things out twice, and have YET to get the money transferred that I asked to be taken care of almost two months ago.
