I interviewed and shopped extensively in the Chemung, Schyler, and Steuben county areas and finally was blessed to find Whispering Pines in Penn Yan, NY, who not only had the best online reviews but offered to make us the most beautiful cabinets at a very fair price. Edward, the CEO and project organizer for cabinets, is extremely knowledgeable at kitchen designing and provides outstanding service to help you design and select the kitchen of your dreams. He was always patient, despite my many inquiries as the project progressed. We found the installation work crew to be just as kind, very efficient, and talented at their craft. The entire project went smoothly as planned and Whispering Pines did an exceptional job at making us custom cabinets and quartz countertops, which looks gorgeous as you can see in the photos. My experience with Whispering Pines went above and beyond what I expected, I am extremely happy with my new kitchen, and I would highly recommend them!

Terrible experience after I signed up with the deposit - once they have you on the hook ($1800 deposit for small kitchen), the customer service disappears entirely. Oh and get ready to pay $700 just to have your own sink installed. With such high prices, frankly I expect better service. When they measured, I asked about how they stabilize the dishwasher and was told (by John, the measurement tech and installer, who should know) to go look it up myself in my dishwasher owners manual, which I did to confirm my understanding. When I asked about whether the stove would be flush with the backsplash so low, I was told that my stove wasn’t made to be flush and that the stove would stick out OR I could pay $175 to have them re-measure because apparently they didn’t measure well enough the first time because they figured the backsplash would cover their slop. What a joke! Now comfortable looking at my owners manuals (thanks Whispering Pines!) I looked it up and confirmed that my stove indeed WAS made to be flush to the wall (which is why it’s so ugly on the sides sticking out from the cabinets). I wasn’t given any option that I didn’t either have to pay more for or wouldn’t accommodate my appliances which existed at the time of measuring. When they did the windowsills, they refused to do the same size sill I currently have because of “materials integrity” (it’s worked so far??) so the tiny sill can no longer have plants on it. It’s as if they don’t realize this is my kitchen, which I have to live with, not them - and as if they think the homeowner has no knowledge/right to decide how they want their own kitchen to look and function.Update: After so much time invested on my part (deposit paid in October) and so much back and forth, rather than work on a solution I’d be happy with, I’ve received a refund (December) of my original deposit and can happily spend my hard earned money with a business who will value me as a customer.

I can’t recommend Edward and his team enough. Edward designed our kitchen and expertly guided me through the process of picking cupboards, countertops,fixtures etc. His team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I love my kitchen. Thanks so much Whispering Pines!

Built us a custom wine rack cabinet using for its top an existing marble countertop pulled off a cabinet that separates our kitchen and living room, then replaced that countertop with a remnant we picked from their stock to create a functional eat-in kitchen counter. Great work for a fair price and in a timely fashion.

Our builder had us order from Whispering Pines in Penn Yann. If you're in the Rochester area, don't let their distance from you dissuade you from buying from Edward Zimmerman and his team. They made us these superbly high quality large kitchen set (wood cabinets, quartz countertops) and large vanity (custom one piece top with two sinks) for our new home. Plus they really use high tech tools to design, build and install for us. They did make absolutely sure that the appliances that you'll get will fit and there is no rework required. From Edward, who helped us design to the crew that put the cabinets in, they really handled themselves professionally. If you thought these nice folks only do traditional wood work and make shaker-style cabinets, you'd be sorely mistaken. Give Edward a call!
