Lots of good condition used books by major contemporary authors, both hardback and soft, for ridiculously low prices. It's a steal! If you like to read, why aren't you here??

$0.50 for paperback AND $1 for hardback AND all the proceeds go to the library? This is the perfect used bookstore. You'll be surprised at how many genuinely good/newer books they have on hand. On my first visit I walked away with 10 books, 5 of which were on my "to be read list".They say their turnover is crazy and they get 99% of their books from donations. That means the whole store is basically new each week. Will be returning over and over again to keep taking advantage of their incredible deals while simultaneously supporting the library. It's a win-win for everyone.

Well - I wrote the Board in light of the terrible treatment I received from the Library Director and sure enough, they reimbursed me for the cost of my phone. Props to them - whether it be because they had integrity, or they knew legally they would be liable in light of the negligence of allowing a shelf (whether knowingly or not) that was unstable to be in their store and could have potentially hurt someone. (I was actually bruised but not entirely hurt). Sadly, the Director continued to harangue me in emails, literally blaming me for my phone breaking - falsely accusing me of scanning books with my phone which I do not do (as if I am to blame if I was, in fact , doing that when I wasn't ) - and she also told me " I was not paying attention " and that is why my phone broke! If that wasn't enough - then she told me while clearly being retaliatory and continuing to not take responsibility for what happened.... "in light of the review I left, we feel you should shop elsewhere ! and because I I wasn't a Peekskill resident I shouldn't shop there ! Can you imagine a PUBLIC LIBRARY store telling someone they weren't welcome because he/she/they left a bad review or because someone wasn't a resident of the town ? Appalling ! Ironically this store gets most of their " profit" from book dealers and or Amazon book sellers who DO NOT LIVE IN PEEKSKILL - but come from places like NJ and Rockland county . I literally had to write to Jennifer Brown and tell her to cease and desist from her harassing behavior. My review was not about the store - but about the Director - who I believe the Board should get rid of. Thank you for the Board for reimbursing me! Then I wrote to the Board and asked them if I was banned from the store to please advise me what policy I violated that would ban me from the store - and I never heard from them. I never violated any policy - I was being retaliated against by the Director. Hmmm..... That Director should be fired - in my opinion - she is nothing more than a liability to the library and the store - If she treated me that way - who else is she potentially treating this/that way?

This bookstore is a little gem in the middle of the big city. All items-books, CDs, DVDs, books on tape and more-are donated by the public and the library. Everyone who works there is a volunteer! They give their time to sell the books etc with all proceeds going back to the library. The books are so reasonable priced, ie hard covers $2 each that almost anyone can afford them! I highly recommend a stop at this little book paradise next time you are in the Peekskill area!

his is both a review of the Book Store " Manager" and the Library Director who presides over the Bookstore. Shame !Shame! Shame! - is the title of my review. I went to purchase books at this store and came upon Art Books that were haphazardly placed upon an unstable bookshelf. Of course , I didn't realize this initially, but when I went to look at one of the books I found out. As I pulled one book out , due to the unstable shelf and how these heavy books were piled on it , several heavy Art books came tumbling down upon my foot and hand. One of the books was so heavy it knocked my phone out of my hand and then the books fell on my phone completely cracking its screen. Of course any ethical store would acknowledge this and cover the cost of the repair of my phone. However, that is not what happened here. The Bookstore Manager told me in a text message that she would tell the volunteer who witnessed this to give me a credit explaining that the Library Director would not cover the cost of my phone repair because the Insurance company would not cover it. When I showed the volunteer who witnessed the bookshelf collapse ( who upon witnessing it, took all the books off so that it wouldn't happen to anyone else) a text message from the manager (also a volunteer) telling me she would have the volunteer give me a credit , she said, " I was told not to give you a credit." She then proceeded to read an email sent from the manager explaining that the Director told her not to give me a credit because that would admit to culpability! Talk about SHAMEFUL. Not only did these people cause my phone to break with their clear negligence of a unstable book shelf ( which has since mysteriously been replaced with stable shelves and placed in their back room where the donations are delivered) , but then they sought to suppress the truth . At one point the manager actually tried to change the narrative on me and text me a message that stated " I feel bad because YOU broke your phone " . A rather manipulative response drenched in denial because as a manager she was culpable for placing heavy Art books on an unstable shelf and if she didn't do it , she permitted it. Not only did she fail to take responsibility but then denied it and victim blamed. WOW. These people are entrusted by a Board who is supposed to support the public - and yet this library in my opinion has A MORALLY BANKRUPT DIRECTOR who not only denied the truth but sought to suppress it and a manager that is so unethical, that in spite of not being paid, went along with the lie. Again - SHAMEFUL!

I adore this place so much! SO many books and they are ALWAYS organized! I've been coming here since I was a young kid and I still enjoy coming here with my tote bags and stuffing them full of books. You truly can't beat the prices and the volunteers that work there are extremely friendly and kind and always up for a conversation. This is definitely my favorite hidden gem in Peekskill.

This is a great bookstore. The sections are nicely organized so you can look for specific books. They practically give away CDs, DVDs, etc., they're so cheap. And always friendly people running it.

I wanted to donate 30 books in great condition. Online it says you are accepting donations. I paid for parking, and carried 30 books to the store only to be told they weren’t accepting them and to come back. Come back- to pay for parking all over again and to be turned away? 30 books went to waste
