Ive been coming to this clinic for a while now and have always trusted Dr. Maggie for her knowledge and usually pleasant demeanor. Today, however, my experience was different. I was running a bit late due to unexpected circumstances, arriving around 10:30 for a 10:15 appointment, and I made sure to call ahead to explain. Though I repeatedly apologized and even offered to reschedule if needed, I was reassured it was fine. However, when I finally saw Dr. Maggie, her tone was noticeably passive-aggressive, which was unexpected and disappointing given the care and expense I’ve invested here.
During the appointment, I asked about my dog Bonnie’s ongoing issues with stuffiness, something she’s struggled with for two years now. I was told it was simply a ‘reverse sneeze,’ but I felt my concerns weren’t truly listened to. When I pointed out Bonnie’s stuffy breathing in a video, I only received a half-hearted acknowledgment without any clear guidance, just passive remarks and laughter that felt dismissive. This isn’t what I expect when I come for a professional opinion, especially from someone I’ve trusted in the past.
Overall, I’d like to see a bit more respect and attention to my concerns as a responsible pet owner. I hope future visits will be more in line with the positive experiences I’ve had here before.”

My cat was showing signs of kidney disease and each doctor I went to there told me it didn’t seem too serious, just give him fluids and monitor him. He was getting worse and after a second blood test they told me he was in end stage kidney failure and that I should consider euthanasia. They offered no medical treatment to help him. I did my own research and found a supplement that saved his life and returned his kidney values almost close to normal. My cat began sneezing a lot of blood a few weeks later so I brought him back to diagnose what was going on. They insisted that him bleeding excessively from his nose wasn’t a concern to them at all and that they want to do more advanced bloodwork for his kidneys. They gave no medication for his nose. I called back to ask what the bloodwork showed and all they said was “kidney problems”. I paid 450$ for a test and they gave no advice or help for him. After a week I called back to tell them his nose was still bleeding a lot and they prescribed antibiotics which would’ve been smart to do when I initially took him in for the issue instead of disregarding it. I came to pick them up and they charged me twice the amount that the meds cost, an additional charge for something I never asked for or received. And the medication for an upper respiratory infection did not work, he was misdiagnosed over the phone. This place is extremely money hungry and a disgrace. I wish I never brought my cat here.

The staff was incredible, compassionate & kind. Unfortunately, my cat needed to be put down, they were so nice and empathetic throughout the entire process. Jackie & Dr. walker were great. 5 stars!

I have always had positive experiences when taking any of my pets to their office. Dr. Maggie and Dr. Erin are my two favorites. They have knowledge and compassion for my animals. Would highly recommend Paumanok to my family and friends.

Thank you, Dr. Maggie., I just want to say thank you, Dr. Maggie and the girls at work today and the girls at work there. When Gizzy died, she let me sit in the room for an hour in the dark just holding her and kept on checking on me. So thank you Dr. Maggie. Dr. Maggie has a heart of gold without her. I would've had a heart attack. I just want to thank you and the girls who work there. They amazing. Thank you so much for taking care of Zoe and Gizzy.

We brought our elderly cat to Paumanok for an appointment. Our cat was approx. 20 years old and having difficultly breathing. We knew there was likely not going to be many options for him but just wanted him to be comfortable. Dr. David Hensen comes into the room and the first thing he says is ' Oh I thought I was seeing a dog'. No introduction. We then proceed to tell him why we are there and the only thing he says is 'oh I didn't realize he was that old'. He then examines our cat and basically tells us there are not many options other than doing a full workup or putting him to sleep. No emotions or no compassion AT ALL. He then says if we put him to sleep we have to figure out if we want him cremated or we want his body. I was amazed at how a VET someone who's supposed to love animals can handle a sensitive situation and act like they can care less. The vet tech was so kind and even talked to us after the doctor left the room and then came out and gave us some treats for our cat. DO NOT bring your animals to dr. Hensen. We have used dr Maggie in the past and had a pleasant experience but I would avoid Dr Hensen at all costs.

These people are scam artists. I paid them $1400 to clinically clean. My catkidneys out the cat came home never woke up. I brought the cat back. The man told me. $3000 in the cat will probably be just fine. He had the cat for 1 day and charged me I don't understand why somebody's not looking into his practice.I have brought two animals to him in both times he put them down$1500 to kill it. So now the veterinarian has $3000. I have no cat.Because he's a liar either that or is just not qualified to help animals. Doctor Dave should not be called the Doctor at all. He should be called a shoemaker and leave animals alone. Because he is not qualified, help them. She is not my wife and she did not apologize for what I wrote so you lied again when I speak to you. You speak very slow like maybe you take drugs. I know you can't remember if my cat was a he or A. She cause I told you 5 times that it was a he and he kept calling at she. Somebody really needs to investigate your establishment because I believe. There's something wrong there.

I just want to express my sincere thanks to the staff for helping me today. I’m a mental health nurse in the community and our clinic is on Waverly Avenue. When I returned from lunch, there was an injured duck on the sidewalk. I didn’t know what to do… I have brought my dog and cat to you in the past and I drove the duck to your office right away. Your staff was so kind and helpful… it took a load off my mind that the duck wouldn’t die in the street alone and cold. The staff was compassionate, warm, and so kind.

I would just like to start off by saying the woman at the front desk and the vet techs were absolutely amazing. Everyone was loving and kind and really made you feel welcome. As a new patient here I do have to say I only removed one star because of the way Dr. Dave entered the exam room. No hello, no welcome to the practice and to be quite honest felt rushed and dismissed. We will be returning and hoping for a better experience with the doctors.
