Over the last 9 years being a program member for my childrens swimming lessons I can say I have never had an issue until the last 3 months. We always participated in group swim lessons but i inquired regarding private swimming lessons. I was told to leave a message with Christina "the aquatics director" which I did approximately 4 times, left 3 emails as requested, spoke to the front desk 6 times having given my contact information to 3 different staff members and the manager "tim". All saying I would receive a call back, I have not received any return calls or emails. I even spoke about canceling my membership with the manager who honestly could not of cared less. There is no follow through and terribly unprofessional. I paid for a membership expecting a service and the ymca staff at the patchogue location have fallen short. I was persistent in reaching out to the facility as I liked the environment and swimming instructors but now I would rather give my money elsewhere.

Not a bad gym they do have a fair amount of equipment. Could definitely use more stationary bikes for those that can’t stand. It’s kept very clean. But my only issues were the price, which kept increasing and all I used was the gym area. The other thing to keep in mind is when the teens and some also older people come in and sit on equipment they aren’t using but play on their phones it’s really annoying. That needs to be stopped. It’s hard to get to all the machines when a person is sitting and staring at their phone for 20 minutes.

The pre-k program was good, in the sense that my son was happy there and his teacher and TA were great. But we will not be returning here for any childcare program due to administrative staff, especially Laura in billing. She was particularly difficult to deal with, difficult to get a hold of, and absolutely rude and nasty. We had an issue with billing and she went as far as to make empty threats stating “your son won’t be able to attend graduation if this isn’t cleared up by such and such date”, which after speaking to the director John we discovered she had no authority to make decisions like that. Completely bizarre experience dealing with that woman.

I have been a member at the YMCA for 50 years. Mostly in Queens, NY and Bay Shore, NY. Most years I hardly visited the Y but paid my membership anyway because I believe in what the YMCA does and who they help. We have been members since Patchogue YMCA opened in 2010. Our cost is $68.00 per month to use the pool only for 1/2 hour, 3 times per week. On 4/15/19 my wife and I were told by Executive Director Donna M. Boyle and Associate Executive Debbie Santoro at the Patchogue, NY YMCA that our membership has been terminated because we complain when the pool is not operating at a temperature not usable for a senior to exercise in, 82-84 degrees. We complained when the pool was 80 degrees or less and we only complained to the executive staff, not to the younger staff. We were always disgusted to see young children shivering with blue lips and the disabled and or seniors not able to use the pool because it was too cold. We complained not just for us but for every other YMCA member who couldn't use the pool. My wife and I are both retired/disabled and use the pool to exercise. The only low impact exercise we can do. Newsday article 10/23/10 "In the new facility, the swimming pool is in a glass-enclosed room where water is set at a constant 85 degrees, Boyle said, with an air temperature of 90 degrees. "It's summertime all year round in here," she said." During the years as members at the Patchogue Y we have overlooked many problems that the YMCA has. Many pool closing for repairs (sometimes for weeks), constant mold in showers, shower water temperature too cold to shower in, stagnant water on shower floor for days, staff allowing members to use lockers permanently while signs state locks will be removed on Sunday evening which makes finding an open locker hard to find and very small changing areas. Another incident, Associate Executive Debbie Santoro allowed a male worker to be in the women's shower while my wife was showering. The main problem at the Patchogue YMCA is that there is no membership liaison working for members so staff can do whatever they may please with no consequences. Not even the Long Island YMCA President & CEO Anne Brigis will help you. When has it been a crime when you complain, that you are not getting what you pay for? So before you sign on the dotted line make sure you and your family know what you are getting into.

So DISAPPOINTING! How DARE they bring something to this community for the community yet the working class are not excepted as part of said community!!!!! A scholarship program is just that , not a hand out , yet you’re treated with little respect. All the questions and papers you must send in, a reason why your child deserves to have a fun summer while mommy works how much is spent on food, rent, clothes ext…Has this establishment looked around to see the community in which it resides?!!! Children should have fun summers at an affordable camp. Parents should feel stress free while at work. How ? It’s sad to see that my review IS NOT THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND.Crystal Torro front desk got so offended when this conversation was directed at her. No Ms.Torro you may not make the rules but Ma’am you represent the YMCA.Laura Cole , went right to voicemail. You were my first choice for my child because I felt safe at home. Yet I see that we are not welcome because we do not fall under the right bracket!!!SHAME ON YOU YMCASHAME ON YOU LAURA COLESHAME ON THE COMMUNITY OF PATCHOGUE FOR ALLOWING THIS UNFAIRNESS !!ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS SHOUOD BE TREATED EQUALLY WITH AFFORDABLE PRICES FOR ALL KIDS!!!
