Qui Plantavit Curabit. Love the motto on the front door " He who planted it, will tend it". This is the kind of house I would like to have, if I were rich. Not too big, and in a traditional style. It would be great if the house were near the ocean too.
I love the large land plot it's on. I love nature. I guess I'm still an old hippy from the 1970s.

Such a great spot I can understand why Theodore picked it. Don’t miss the museum that is also on the grounds. Where one of Theodore’s sons used to live There is so much important and interesting history that took place here. It’s also a wonderful place for photography but they don’t allow pictures taking in the actual Sagamore Hill House. It is free to walk the beautiful grounds but there is charge for a house tour Unless you go on National parks day. It is well worth a visit here. Recently the house and museum has been fully restored and is now an American National State Park. One more thing at the old orchard museum the other house on the grounds in the backyard there are walking trails that lead down to the water. That’s the entrance to Oyster Bay Harbor. Also a beautiful boardwalk is here and is a great place for birdwatching many shore birds a preserved here. Also this area was a great stomping ground for Theodore and all his children back in the day. This place is very kid friendly and many school trips are held here.

Sagamore Hill is a fantastic NPS unit, perfect not just for Parks buffs or history aficionados, but for those looking for a great hike or cycle also! Teddy Roosevelt's home is preserved in pristine condition, our tour guide was incredibly detailed and insightful, and the museum was the icing on the cake.
The real surprise to visitors, though, will be the gorgeous grounds. You'll see plenty of folks from the nearby communities arriving for a stroll, a hike, or a bike ride, and as they can tell you, it is easy to see how Teddy fell in love with this place. Don't miss the trail from the museum down to the water!
Come. Learn. Immerse. And love every second!

The Sagamore Hill National Historic Site is a renowned historic attraction that features the home of the late Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President Of The United States. Located in Cove Neck, New York, the site was known as the “Summer White House” because Roosevelt frequently spent much his summers there while he was President.
In February of 2024, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a tour of Sagamore and we very much enjoyed our experience there.
During our visit, my wife and I took part in a guided tour of the Roosevelt family home at Sagamore. Our tour guide did a great job on providing a concise overview of President Theodore Roosevelt, his family and their lives at Sagamore Hill. When touring the home, we viewed and learned about a multitude of the house’s furnishings ranging from gifts given by foreign dignitaries, pieces of arts and books, and trophies awarded to Roosevelt for his big game hunts.
Our favorite parts of the house were the bedrooms of the Roosevelt family, most notably the bedroom of Theodore Roosevelt, where he passed away in 1919.
The home was also visited by prominent figures such as Thomas Edison, Russian state officials and even President Franklin Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt.
When traveling Long Island, both my wife and I highly recommend that you visit this amazing historic destination.

The walking trail is definitely recommended.
Nice forest, nice beach.

Oh, it's so diminished....it's heartbreaking!!! ?? There's no rose garden or separate gift shop since an unfortunate fire some years ago. And it's sad that the self-righteous, oblivious, obnoxious Government/U.N., thinks that "port'a'johns" are an acceptable accessory. ??? I didn't even get to the Main house? But I will go back! As a former employee - the "new" DISGRACEFUL CONGRESS has A LOT to answer for! A LOT! ???

Thought the home looks impressive on the outside, wait till you see what’s on the inside! I went into the tour not knowing what to expect, and it was truly a time capsule of Theodore Roosevelt’s life. There’s a lot of antiques from all over the world; the space really highlighted just how much of a free spirit and adventurer he truly was. Our tour guide was spectacular in weaving the story of Roosevelt’s life in such an interesting way. I had no idea that an inkwell could be made from the foot of an animal, or that Roosevelt valued living life to the fullest despite being told that he wouldn’t live past childhood. It’s a touching story, and being in the house really brings you back in time to the mindset and interests that Roosevelt had. He was sort of an erratic genius? I highly recommend this tour, and supporting the space by purchasing tickets online. 10/10 experience!

Be sure to go online to get tickets to tour the home so you can view the many historical artifacts. The young man who was our tour guide was very knowledgeable about historical data and also had some amusing facts about family members as well as some poignant stories which show the Roosevelt's were not immune to great sadness and tragedy. If you are a TR, or just a fan of American history Sagamore Hill is a must see. After the tour take a seat in one of the rocking chairs on the porch and allow the serene quietness and your imagination take your mind back to the time of TR, it must have been, Bully!
