I am a longstanding client of Custom Carpet Centers, and have worked predominantly with Pam whose experience and professionalism are wonderful. They have a wide range of flooring and have helped with difficult basement installations of vinyl as well as carpet runners. The only unpredictable experience is with the installers, some are more experienced than others. Generally though that has not been a big concern as if there are any installation questions, Cliff will be sure to address them.

I had many options to choose from. My salesman, Mike, was very helpful. We bought an American made carpet and we are very happy with it.

Expert estimators that will think outside the box and guide the homeowner to the right product for the job. The installer(s) are top notch. My wife and I had three separate projects over the last six years and realized after this third. Custom carpet was the go to after vetting several others.

The sales experience was five stars. Kathy was very helpful and patient and let us take home as many samples as we wanted in order to make our flooring decisions.
The estimating experience was three stars. While the flooring estimate went smoothly, there was a lot of confusion as to what was in or out of the baseboard/trim estimate. The estimator failed to show for one appointment and two appointments were needed in order to obtain an accurate estimate.
The hard flooring installation was five stars. Vince did a superb job of installing the vinyl flooring and baseboard/trim. I highly recommend him.
The carpet installation was three stars.

This is our third time dealing with custom carpet. Great pricing on our lvp flooring from karndean. Also sales people very friendly an helpful. We had Mike as our sales person this time. But usually deal with Kathy who goes above and beyond for her customers she's very good. If your in a hurry for your flooring maybe this isn't the place for you. It took five weeks from ordering to finally get installation. Installation by Tim was fantastic. Thank you again for another job well done custom carpets.

I want to preface this review by stating that my fiance and I are very patient and cooperative people. We are both first time homeowners and we hustled extremely hard to be able to close on our house with enough time to make the alterations we felt necessary before we had to move in. This included drywall in multiple areas upstairs as well as painting two separate rooms upstairs after the drywall as well as installing trim throughout the whole upstairs. We ordered the carpet roughly 2 weeks before we moved in and our carpet was ready about a week and a half after. We lived out of our living room until the carpet was ready. A day before the carpet was installed, I spent a few more hours touching up drywall in one room and touching up paint in both rooms. My fiance is pregnant and we wanted our upstairs perfect for our baby girl and us, and it was...until our carpet was installed. The carpet is nice and we have no complaints about that, we're actually satisfied...but damage was done to the wall in our bedroom and the door to the crawl space was broken. As mentioned, my fiance is pregnant and we have kids and a pet so leaving the door to the crawl space open wasn't an option so I fixed it with her brother. Earlier that day, Dean assured me that he would have Cliff, the installation manager call me the following Monday to talk about the gouge in the wall and the door as well. Monday comes and goes and Cliff not Dean reach out. Tuesday comes and someone with slurred speech reaches out to me about coming to see what damage was done. I assumed this was a manager of some sort so we scheduled a visit for the next day. Next day comes by and ITS THE TWO PEOPLE WHO INSTALLED THE CARPET. I showed them the damage, told them what they did and how Cliff was supposed to reach out and didn't and how I was becoming frustrated with the customer service and they admitted guilt and asked if they could pay for the paint to fix the wall. I said I wanted to speak to Cliff and not just an employee. They said they would reach out to him in the morning at the office. Thursday morning comes and goes and finally mid-afternoon, I called this store trying to to reach Dean. Dean is off. I told the person I spoke with my situation and that I couldn't reach Cliff and Cliff hadn't called me back and they said "I'm not surprised." I asked for the corporate number and I was told to call the Orchard Park store. After calling the Orchard Park store, I managed to be transferred to Cliff. I expressed that I was becoming inpatient with their customer service and that I was waiting on a call from him to come to a resolution. He cut me off by saying that there is no resolution as the two people who came by told Cliff that they didn't do the damage that I complained about and my pregnant fiance had signed off on a walkthrough that never was fully completed by James because another employee with long hair was vacuuming in one room while she was asked to sign off. All she saw was one room and the carpet being throughout the entire upstairs. She saw the crawlspace door down but assumed it would close. Regardless, at 8 months pregnant she has bigger issues to worry about and at this point I just feel she was taken advantage of. The carpet was nice but the installation process was upsetting and it didn't have to be this way if the installers didn't lie about the damage done. We are honest, patient people that were taken advantage of.

Salesman was great at first, however, when I called with an issue regarding the transition threshold, I was given the run around. A reducer threshold should have been used, but wasn’t. Not only is it a tripping hazard and lift’s easily but you can see the wood flooring underneath from the living room and mud room.”. I was told to “give it a few days to see if it still bothered me and there must have been a reason why a baby threshold had to be used because the guy that came to measure is experienced and has been doing this for years”. then I was told “the flooring company probably doesn’t make a reducer threshold in that particular color”. Hmmm, my response to that…. The “experienced” man that came to measure should have told me the threshold would have been an issue and I would have looked for an alternative. I then called the flooring manufacturer, Cortec, directly who told me the reducer should have been used when transitioning from an higher floor to a carpet and they most definitely sell it in that color. When I called our salesperson back, I told him that I didn’t want to wait, I wanted the threshold replaced and done correctly. He said to me “well you understand that the hardwood will still show”. Why wouldn’t he have offered to send someone out to look at it. I’m sorry, I’ve had many floors done in my time and have never had an issue going over hardwood or any other floor. Either stretch the carpet, to meet the floor or figure out a way too make it work. We’re spending a lot of money to not be satisfied and not to have these possible issues explained to us beforehand. Delivery of the flooring: the pallets that the flooring was on were left for us to dispose of. THREE pallets. Never had that before. My husband is cutting them up as I’m leaving this review. Installers were good, I can’t complain because they used what was provided to them. Ultimately, the salesman said he would order a new threshold and let us know when it is in. Never offered to have someone come out but did say he wanted us to be happy with our purchase. We bought our carpet there several years ago as well but I do t think we’ll be going back.

Salesman was great.
Installation not so great. Carpet razors left in various areas of house. 3/4 full Pepsi can left in linen closet, Extra-large big gulp full of orange soda left in on-suite bathroom along with razor knife. Crew asked for garbage bags they forgot to bring. Knocked guitar wall hanger off wall and tried to spray glue it back on wall. Found that out the hard way when I went to hang my Expensive guitar on the hanger, and it dropped like a stone to the floor. I signed them off just to get them out, did most of the cleanup myself. I will never use Custom Carpet again.
