Great fresh fish, cool products, and the Black Cod phenomenal!. Very similar to Chilean Sea Bass (nothing like cod) that's great there too! Don't forget the clams, any questions, just ask the Captain he will be more than happy to help. Stop by another time and have a great drink at his bar as he tells you some tales of the sea!!

I walked into this place thinking it might be a convenient store, but it turns out it is the best local bar in town.It is also a seafood market. I met the owner, and he provides excellent, personable service, without being in anyway overbearing. He is from downstate, which I presume is where he forged all his seafood connections, because I'm no expert but even I can tell his seafood is of great quality for the price compared to what you can get at the local grocery stores.I would have never really thought of a seafood market and a bar working so well together in this area, but he really makes it work.

I met a friend here today and shared a few great brews and two delicious cheese and smoked fish plates. don't know anywhere in town where the appetizers are so thought out and interesting! I also asked for advice on their fresh salmon to take home for dinner. August was extremely helpful and explained the differences between the three fresh salmon choices. I choose the Scottish salmon and oh boy! it did not disappoint! Salmon was super fresh tasting, August put it on ice for the ride home! Simply seasoned with salt, pepper and paprika with a few lemon slices. Absolutely delicious. Thank you August for your expertise and kind service!

This is where to get fish and shellfish fresh and expertly prepared. He knows everything about what he has every week: where it came from, what it's like, how to prepare it, etc. Every week, there's the stuff you'd expect (salmon, tuna, cod, halibut etc.) plus things you won't find at the supermarkets around here (branzino, monkfish, sea bass, every kind of north Atlantic oyster you can imagine). Everything is clean and has a fresh aroma! I even got advice on how to shuck an oyster and what kind of knife to buy. For years now, Capt'n. Cook's is our neighborhood fishmonger!

The seafood and meat selection has always been exceptional. I especially appreciate trying the little snacks that you can't find anywhere else. A really solid contribution to Oneonta and the Sixth Ward.

Everything we had was delicious - the owner has curated a really special selection of cheese, charcuterie, accompaniments, and beverages. Definitely stop in if you have the opportunity!
