I’ve been going here for over 20 years. I grew up in Oakdale and would go here with my parents. Now I’m in Massapequa and still use Academy Cleaners! They are so friendly, do great work, and are quick!

Great cleaners, had my daughters wedding gown cleaned and preserved. Called me to come and inspect the gown before they wrapped and boxed it. The gown was like it came right off the rack.Beautiful work as the gown was dirty on the base due to stepping on it.they brought the gown out and showed me the entire gown to make sure it met my approval before boxing it up. Not 1 box.. but 3 boxes its put into to preserve it. They were so gracious and caring in making sure that their customers are happy. My family has been using Academy Cleaners for as long as I can remember. It is a town away from my parents' house - there are a few closer places - and it has always been their go-to. I still go here for all my dry cleaning (formal dresses, work slacks and suit jackets, etc.) and any time I need something altered. I've had all my work slacks taken up here on multiple occasions and they were always hemmed perfectly. A few months ago I had a bridesmaid dress altered here and was extremely happy with how it fit afterwards! Everything is priced extremely reasonably. Even the bridesmaid dress job! If you brought that to a place that specializes in wedding attire, the same alteration job would have cost a lot more. (Depending on what you need changed, it is worth asking to see if it is doable!) The owners are kind and will work with you if you need something finished by a specific time. The 4-star review is because the place itself isn't the nicest looking and the changing room is small and uncomfortable. It isn't so important because they get the job done, but I had to factor it in. But seriously, if you're looking for a great local place to get your clothing cleaned, pressed, altered, or what have you, stop by Academy Cleaners.
