We rescued our second baby from here last month, and they truly are my favorite non profit in the world. Thank you for caring for our furry friends!

We were fortunate enough to find the perfect new member of our family thanks to the help of the wonder staff. They took the time to make sure we were the right fit for eachother.

My wife adopted a dog from this rescue and while I applaud and am very grateful for what they are doing for dogs, the administration is very rude to my wife. Argumentative and very condescending. I hope they figure out staffing because their mission is doing great things for animals.

Impressed by the cleanlinesss of the kennel and the helpfulness of the staff. They also have many services after adoption(training at many different levels etc.) We adopted a puppy and so far she has been wonderful!

I am very ashamed to give this rating. After seeing others it makes sense. At least six years ago I adopted a senior dog from helping hounds quite easily. I did not have a vet. I was living in a single one bedroom apartment and they accepted the application. This dog came to me needing his glands expressed. And unwell. If they vet their dogs like they say they would have informed me of this. Fast forward to this year. Im in a town house with a small yard. Not only my own vet but my husband also has a vet. They emailed multiple times telling me they needed to hear from this person or that person. They contacted both of our vets offices and we were denied. I am in a much better spot now than I was when I first adopted. The worst part is they won’t tell you why they deny you. So it’s not like you can understand or possibly adjust accordingly. It’s just a shame. I thought they were a good shelter. But if they don’t want a good home for their dogs then that’s on them. I will be telling my friends about my experience going forward.

I have volunteered a couple of times for Helping Hounds. I normally walk the dogs and it's the most fun thing ever. I love what they're doing for these animals and I really appreciate it. I'm hoping to help as far as I can. They have friendly staff and very accommodating

Adopted 2 dogs from them when they were in DeWitt. Used to be a great place and I highly recommended them. My dogs are getting older and we went back recently for a 3rd, and they are awful now. Staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. I understand it is tough in a rescue, but as a proven client you know I'm a lifer. I will never recommend again, plenty of other rescues in the area to support.

If you are a senior and looking for a dog, don't stop here. He recently lost my mom to Cancer and the dog they shared for 6 years, also to Cancer. He was not sure he wanted another ( couldn't bare to watch another loved one die. He finally decided he would get another dog. He was approved and knew what he wanted. When we got there they just kept saying we don't have any dogs for you because of his age. They presumed to know him and what he need based on his age.b How rude, that's decrimination. When we left he said maybe I am not supposed to have another dog. same on you people, don't worry we won't be back.

FILL OUT AN APPLICATION BEFORE GOING OR YOU WON'T SEE ANY DOGS. Very clean. So many volunteers walking happy dogs! Very friendly employees. I was impressed. ALOT

Honestly, the staff there are absolutely horrible. We were talked down to the entire time after taking the time to look to see what dogs fit our family best. The dog handlers are great but the paid workers are incredibly rude and quite dismissive. Especially the woman at the front desk. East coast adoptions is fantastic as well as HumaneCNY.

They deny applications without giving any reason as to why, even if you are a fit home for a dog. They gatekeep their animals and apparently don’t want them going to a family with an actual home who would want them forever. All we wanted to do was help a dog out. People say “adopt don’t shop” but shelters like these make it very difficult.

If you're looking for a new pup in your life, then I would highly recommend helping hounds any day over any other shelter! Great price friendly staff, very clean establishment. We have 4 pups from there!

if I could give them zero stars, I would. I adopts a dog from them. He could not do the stairs in my house. I have a raised ranch so it was a necessary ability. I kept im for a week and tried to help him. in the end it was too much for him. so I returned him. During the week that I had him he only at a quarter of a cup of food. I contacted his foster and got what he had been eating, but he still wouldn't eat. when I took him back I had explained the situation. they were less than sympathetic. I cried while filling out the return document. all they said was that my answers were very short. They assured me he would be evaluated, but his profile was back up the next day. I find this organization to be very unethical. Adopt at your own risk.
