I like Michaels but this location needs some work. I needed yarn for my latest crotchet project so I head to the Michaels in Newburgh. The shelves are almost empty of yarn, but it looked like they received a new shipment of yarn and they had stacked all the boxes on top of the shelves. So I return the next day, because it was non-urgent at the time, and the boxes are still there. No yarn on the shelves. I give it another week. Still no yarn unpacked. At this point I give up and go straight online to order. I really needed to get started on this project. Fast forward to a month later, I'm back at this location for something else this time. I bump into another customer that makes a comment about the boxes of yarn that have yet to be unpacked and put on the shelves. We were in the same boat. Waiting over a month for them to stock their shelves with yarn. It's a new week, I'm guessing the yarn still has not been unpacked.

Super impressed particularly with the framing department, though I've had a great experience with the staff store wide. I brought in a rare, old and significant exhibition poster to be framed (among other things) and was a bit hesitant as I had no idea what to expect. Becky (who I believe runs the framing department) did a spectacular job. I couldn't be happier with it. Becky and her staff are always incredibly helpful and go above and beyond to help me out.

If you are going to Michaels for crafts, you are probably going to find everything you need. If you are going there for art, you might want to check the website first to make sure they have what you are after. Michaels is great for random projects but when it comes to professional art supplies they do not carry some of the standard brands in the industry. But I think everybody knows that. Also the prices at michaels are better than an art supply store. Like most large stores, it can be hard to find help when you need it. However anytime I found someone they were always friendly and answered any questions I had. The Newburgh Michaels is conveniently located and parking has never been a problem. I like that they share a parking lot with Loews because some of the things that michaels doesn't carry, Loews does. If you are after basic art supplies or frames, Michaels is definitely an easy answer.

I can't thank the experienced & compassionate staff @ Michael's (framing dept) enough. I went in with a 90 year old photo of my mother when she was 3 years old. My mom had died 2 weeks prior & this photo was very important to me. They helped pick out the perfect mat and frame & touched up some small scratches... the photo is absolutely stunning & is now one of my most cherished possessions. Thank you for such incredible direction and attention given to this most precious photo. It is so beautifully done.

I've had more trouble with this store. I signed up for a class online. What a hassle. Didn't take over and over. Tried the next day and everything went right through. Later when I called to find out when the class was going to be held (my receipt had a different time than that listed online), no one seemed to know there was even going to be a class. I was told to call back later. I did and found someone who said they knew the time. I arrived at that time but it wasn't the right time. This isn't the first time I've called to ask about something and been told that no one knew anything about it or been given wrong information. Plus if you'll notice on their website there's no place to complain about customer service. I think I know why.

WARNING: The smell in this store is awful--super strong fragrance that was even stronger when I went back to return an item. Triggered an allergy attack--watery eyes, runny nose. Otherwise, it's like any other Michaels--good variety of low-to-average quality craft supplies at relatively good prices, especially if you use coupons. It's convenient, but I generally prefer to buy from local (yarn) stores with better quality products and more knowledgable staff. I also shop bead wholesalers in the city for best variety/quality. As for other products: all their home decor is SO ugly, the flowers look fake and smell weird. I've never used their framing service.

This is a good sized clean location. The shelves are always fully stocked and the associates are helpful. The one drawback from this location is the checkout line is always long and takes forever. The company accepts coupons on your phone which is a plus.
