Commodore chocolate is the best chocolatier you will find. It is not a cafe. It is not a restaurant. I don't care where you're from. I don't care what you think you know about chocolate. This is a small shop. What they do is make excellent candy. It is in Newburgh, New York. The outside of the building looks a little sketchy. Do not let that fool you. The inside is gorgeous. Plenty of parking out front. Just double check their hours that they're open before you go. You will not be disappointed.

If you're talking about a must see place in the Hudson Valley when it comes to chocolate I think Commodore is the legacy place that you need to come visit. Everything is prepared by hand and on the premises. It's a family-run outfit that has employees that are pretty much a part of the family as well and you can tell by which way the care and attention is paid to every customer that walks in. Impeccable service and a very friendly vibe when you're in there. Take your time to walk all the way to the back and browse to the shelves. There's something for every taste.

The presentation was awesome. Appears to be very high quality. Granted it was chocolate covered matzah- I just had higher hopes for it. We had this for my husband during the high holidays time. These were mailed, so possibly the store is more fresh and taste better.

I observed very poor, officious treatment of another customer here this Easter weekend who was simply trying to check a few prices -- save your money for a chocolatier that values customers as much as they do their oh-so-precious (and too-expensive) product.
