I had been to a few other Royce stores and this was by far the worst. There were two staff members just standing awkwardly, staring at our every move as we browsed around. They did indicate they would offer assistance if needed (no smiles, just very to-the-point), but we didn’t get any warmth or welcoming vibes from these women. There was no music playing, and with no one else in the store, it was just a bizarre experience that made me want to get out as soon as possible. We picked up a couple of things as quickly as we could and headed to the register. To top it all off, they were asking for a TIP. For what? Your time spent staring at us? Lol. This store is a joke. I would find a different location if you want to be appreciated for spending your hard-earned money.

Very interesting store with Japanese chocolates. On expensive side for sure, you can tell that as you walk in. Had somewhat between ice cream and chocolate bar, with champagne. Excellent, it melts in your mouth, very good quality chocolate

My friend and I came here on Sunday but the employee had a disdainful attitude and seemed like she didn't want to welcome customers. I wouldn't recommend this place because the customer service is so poor.

So so good. They sell a chocolate that has to be refrigerated that is to die for!!! Their dark chocolate in small circulate shapes are killer as well.

I'm kind of a snob when it comes to ice cream and chocolates. I have tasted chocolate from a lot of the good brands and stores but the chocolate from Royce has the most amazing creaminess that I've not encountered before. The Nama chocolate (which is what they're known for) has several different flavors including champagne. They have a matcha flavor that is very unique and made with white chocolate. I have been here a couple times and yesterday I decided to stop in because I was craving the chocolate covered potato chips. And as luck would have it, I received a box of the bitter chocolate chips because I spent over a certain amount on my purchases. The service is excellent and they are always offering samples of selected products to try. The store is clean and well organized. I highly recommend giving their delicious chocolate a try.

This is our second time coming here; their chocolates are fantastic, and they have a great selection of flavors. Just like last time around, we ended up getting a whole bunch of items, including their Nama Islay Whisky, Nama Matcha, and a few Rum Raisin bars. They're a bit difficult to spot if you're in the area, but well worth it if you know what you're looking for!

I am going to Japan next month, so this was an amazing treat just before my trip! Aria was so charismatic and exceptional, and the whole staff were just overall so cool. I learned a lot about the different nama (fresh/raw) chocolates (surprisingly the matcha white chocolate was really good!). The dark chocolate ended up being my fav, but for anyone sensitive to rich chocolate like that when testing I'd recommend grabbing some water. For me it helped reset my palette to try the next chocolate. It's directly next to Bryant Park, and since I go around there often, I'll surely be coming back. This experience truly made my day!

Been to Royce a few times now and gotten amazing service every time. The chocolate is obviously amazing and speaks for itself. Plus it's a nice little shop that's a little hard to find but worth it once you're in.

The staff here is really knowledgeable about their chocolates. Everything is made with dairy product from Hakkaido which is an region in Japan that is really well known for their dairy. They also are famous for their "Nama" which means fresh in Japanese. These are supposed to be melt in your mouth. I tried a few of these and they were just okay. I wouldn't recommend buying tons of these. Maybe a box and share it with a bunch of your friends? The ones I really liked though were their Spring collection. The Pistachio Teddy Bears and the cherry blossom coins were absolutely beautiful.IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

Disappointing to find Royce uses artificial flavors - and also to find old chocolates in the father's day tasting box. The actual shop itself is beautiful, though there are only stairs to get inside - very difficult with a stroller. Staff are friendly.

my favorite chocolate, but the service in the store is extremely cold. It feels like you are not welcomed. Also they stopped handing out samples, you can ask for one but the interaction I had was extremely cold and awkward.Employees who were there were silent most of the time and just kind of stared at me instead of engaging or maybe telling a bit about the products, unlike anywhere else you go in New York. From 4 nama chocolate boxes I bought from this store, not one had a spatula inside :(

The ROYCE store is kind of hidden away just within a building on the perimeter of Bryant Park, but it is a neat shop nonetheless. The store is pretty small, but it has a good selection of chocolates as well as variety of chocolate products (chocolate covered potato chips for example) and seasonal selections. What's great and unique (well somewhat?) is how nice, creamy, and just sweet enough their chocolate is. Whether it's the matcha, dark chocolate, champagne, etc. The employees are also very nice, positive and informative. Overall, cool to checkout and bonus points for its view of the park.
