No place to sit other than the small crowded monkey cages. Why build such a new hall with no places to sit? Especially that the trains tend to be chronically late. Next time - flight.

The new station is so beautiful- light, airy- a million times better than the old station for Amtrak. There's a fancy entrance with skylight and escalators at 33rd and 7th (you see a perfectly framed view of the Empire State Building as you ride up the escalator), but this is not the quickest entrance for direct access to Amtrak; the entrance on 33rd and 8th is the most direct access to Amtrak (this entrance is on the side with the iconic steps on the outside). There are several waiting/lounge areas for Amtrak passengers. Unfortunately, the gorgeous looking Metropolitan Lounge on the second floor is only for certain passengers (Acela, first-class, Guest Rewards Select Plus and Select Executive). Still, the new lounge areas for the rest of us are still petty nice. Finally, I think the extra space has allowed Amtrak to make boarding a less crazy affair- clearer announcements, earlier boarding. Overall, a gigantic improvement- I always loved Amtrak and I love heading to the station, too.

The new entrance at 33rd and 7th Avenue is just gorgeous. The see thru look via the skylight of the Empire State Building and the skyscrapers in the vicinity offers a mind blowing view. It sure is another iconic add to the existing list. The map of NY overhead is a piece of art in itself. The new user touch points in terms of electronic display is welcome change. The wider hallway will make peak traffic a little easier for the commuters .

A huge upgrade from what the station formerly was. It has now become sort of an escape to the hustle and bustle of the city.

Beautifully overdue renovation of an iconic NYC landmark.

Can I give zero stars? I’m writing specifically about the NJ transit section. Horribly designed station. An embarrassment for New York City. Very ugly and makes no sense as to how massive crowds are funneled through the tiny spaces. Getting to your track is a living nightmare. Watch out for the stampedes.

Wonderful that we finally have a brand new Penn Station in the Farley post office building that is a much cleaner brighter facility than the current one that was made to go underground when the original structure of Penn Station was demolished in 1963 to make way for a new Madison Square Garden and the Penn Plaza office building. It’s a new era of long distance passenger rail travel in NYC

Penn Station is not the cleanest place but its ok. They have eateries down there as you wait for your train. The staff is helpful if you need assistance. Here you can take the LIRR, NJ TRANSIT, SUBWAY or AMTRAK. Very convenient transit hub for people. They have a handful of homeless people, but I found if you do not bother them they won't bother you. Very convenient place for travelers.
