The complex is fine. It appears secure, and the location is excellent. However, the space is overpriced given its square footage and condition. Nevertheless, Angel from leasing was an absolute pleasure. She is one of the most modest and charming leasing agents I've ever encountered. She is also incredibly knowledgeable.

Pros: Concierge, maintenance and leasing office are nice. I lived there for a year, I am moving out because of work. They helped me not lose my security deposit and they are communicative and transparent, particularly Loren S.The location is great, is close to a subway, and food, and the park. I really enjoyed loving in that area of the upper west, close enough of the commercial area.Amenities: Rooftop is nice, amenities are good, the gym is good, living areas are good. The wifi was okay.People living there are friendly and nice.Close to Columbia (subway) and Fordham if you are a student. The Cons: its kinda expensive and keeps getting expensive, I don’t know if it’s equity residential or something related to taxes in NYC.

Honestly the best place to live in the UWS! I spent 2 years here thanks to the building's fantastic community manager Sophia Kocevar. The staff is amazing with 24 hour concierge, making the building feel safe & easy to receive packages. Everyone is so nice (Andres, Walter, Jose, Eduardo, Edison...too many to name!). It's also really great that if something needs to be repaired, the maintenance team comes right away. The apartments are kept up very well (modern & new), the rooftop is amazing, and it's only a short walk to Central Park and Trader Joes.

My husband and I have lived at 170 Amsterdam for 1 1/2 years. Our apartment, the building, and the neighborhood felt like home within days of moving in. When our lease was up after the first year, we immediately re-upped for 2 more years. The building has just the right amenities for us. We especially enjoy the rooftop terrace and the music practice rooms. We love our apartment. It has everything we need - modern layout, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a fabulous view. But the best part has definitely been the people who work here. Sophia (the community manager), Andres and the concierge staff, and every single person who works here really goes above and beyond to help whenever we need something. Their positive attitudes and can-do spirit really make this a great place to live.

My husband and I are so grateful to call this place home with our two small pups. Sophia and her entire Team have become “family” and everyone from the front desk to the building workers are wonderful. We couldn’t be happier.

I’ve lived in the building for over four yearsConcierge and the maintenance are wonderfulEquity residential is a different storyThey are in the middle of construction now and I live on the first floorThe two bedrooms and the living room kitchen area are all floor to ceiling glassInitially they boarded it up with plywood and felt this was acceptable until people started to complain and then they replaced it with plexiglass with plywood planksEquity residential does not really want to give anybody on the first floor anything but a very minimalAmount of moneyWe cannot use the outside area at all and for me I have no privacy as workmen walk back-and-forth all day longAnd I can still see them through the shadesI have to get dressed in the morning in the bathroomThey have commandeered our laundry roomThey are sawing and doing work right outside my bedroom window not on my area of the building but doing work for other parts of the complex without regard to my privacyThey will not give me any kind of a date when the work will be finished nor will they give me any money but a token amount of money to make up for my loss of privacy filthy windows workman walking back in front of my apartment all day long, etc.And loss of use of my outdoor spaceI pay over $7000 a month in rent and I’m treated very poorlyEquity residential has shown Little interest in treating the residents with any respectApparently they have no person in charge of watching these workmen and after many many requests that they don’t leave garbage in front of my windows or work product in front of my windows I have to constantly send notes because nobody watches themThe community manager is a 25-year-old young lady with absolutely no experience in dealing with these situationsThey have in fact indicated that I have no right to privacy etcThe way I have been treated is appalling.I would not recommend this building nor with equity residential or any of their buildings

In addition to my review on goggle, I would like to add that the building itself has some issues. The air conditioning ducts in the gym are filthy. Some of the equipment does not work.I took pictures of the ducts to send to management. The elevators are frequently out sometimes both. And the building manager is about a 25 year old apparently with little experience. And who has time to talk to the concierge but was unaware of the ducts in the gym.

By far the best building I've lived in. The staff is kind and attentive, and the building is extremely well-kept.

1. Great service / staff however the front desk attendees are lax in vetting anyone come into the building. All food delivery people are allowed to roam all over the building. 2. Elevators are the ABSOLUTE WORST. Always out of service with major delays. Hope you are in shape -get ready to climb stairs. 3. If you face Amsterdam Avenue, it is only a matter of time until the constant blaring sirens from FDNY and the slow, steady parade of ambulances drive you out of your mind.

Lived here for two years.Location: very very good. Not on top of m the subway and yet pretty close - not only one but two subways (66th and 72nd) - 72nd is an express stop. Close to Trader Joe’s and not that far from Target and Whole Foods on Columbus circle. Close to Lincoln Center. Close to a bunch of restaurants on Columbus and Broadway. Just a few minutes from both Central Park and Hudson River Park.Staff: These guys are a top-notch team - they are always patient and helpful in many ways - with packages, mail, fixing stuff (not that I had many of those) - overall what I miss most about this place - to name a few like Andres, Eduardo, and Murat. The leasing staff is not bad, but they changed the team quite often.Apartment: here is where you need to be careful - the finishing are mostly the same and pretty good - but choosing the right layout is important - we used to live facing Amsterdam Avenue on a mid-level floor - we had a nice view, BUT it comes at a cost - even though the windows are thick and soundproof - it will for sure always hear those ambulances from the Mount Sinai hospital down on 60th - you will hear those trucks going through the street at night - you will still hear those fire trucks from the Fire department right on 66th that always make a right on 68th in front of the building. It is not an issue during the day, but during the night, it is somewhat annoying. So if you are sensitive to noise, pick one facing the back of the building and sacrifice the view.Amenities: there are some amenities we didn’t use as the golf simulation -but the rooftop is fantastic, and we always used to go there during warm days - just wish they would put an ice machine to make things easier - but it has a lovely setting, and sometimes you would even have trouble finding a spot, but neighbors were always nice and accommodating - I have met many neighbors just hanging around there. The gym will cost you $75 per month - not super big, but it is well equipped and maintained. The reason we left: management was pretty tough to negotiate when it came to renewing or upgrading the apartment - they were offering great deals to new tenants and not so much for current tenants - at the first year before the pandemic, increased the rent and added a bunch of surcharges of more than $200/month - even the second renewal during the pandemic it was tough to negotiate anything. The corporate renewal staff was very attentive, but not much they could do, I guess.Overall we liked this building - the staff was terrific, and the price seemed fair (before they started adding a bunch of surcharges on the first renewal) - if you are looking to stay in this place for more than a year, really advise negotiating upfront when you join the community otherwise I think management is way too greedy on renewals.

This will be our new home. It was a pleasure working with Sophia. The process was simple and easy. Looking forward to getting acclimated to our new community.

Very organized and professional staff. From the front desk to the leasing agent Olivia. I felt very welcomed and enjoyed seeing all the wonderful amenities. I loved that they have a conference room, pool table, pet spa and gym among other amenities . Very convenient to also have a nice cafe at the base of the building. Loved the large sound proof windows. Excellent location on a quiet part of Amsterdam next to Lincoln center, Central Park, Apple and steps to Trader Joe's.

It has been one month, and I feel extremely confident writing this review. 170 Amsterdam is everything you could want in your first apartment in a big city. I moved from a small town in CT and was nervous about find the PERFECT apartment. I went back forth between a few different styles, and finally chose the "E" category and could NOT be any more happy with the layout and the look and the natural light from my apartment. The floor to ceiling windows are truly stunning (and great for dog/people watching lol). Everything about my apartment looks, smells, feels new. The beautiful waterfall island is just the icing on the cake. The doormen in this building are INCREDIBLE. I have been into several buildings and NO ONE tops the kindness, willing to help, safety and overall demeanor of the men in this building. As a young woman, safety is a top priority for me, and I feel as though I am in good hands here. The property manager sends out consistent emails letting you know about various maintenance issues or concerns there may be. The resident portal online is a great place to reserve a space or even buy something off of another resident.Overall, 170 Amsterdam has been the best decision I have made. I am truly over-the-moon that I found this building. I would NOT look any further if you are looking here. This is HOME.

Moving into 170 Amsterdam was an easy decision and one we don't regret! The location was the first thing that attracted us to the building but then we met Sophia, who helped us get our lease signed. She was fantastic and really gave us a glimpse of what living there would be like. The customer service we experienced from maintenance, concierge, and leasing provided a smooth transition into the building. Our specific unit is beautiful, with an open spacious layout that allows us to entertain our friends and family. The 2nd floor is surprisingly quiet for a NYC apartment, with a great view of a small, private park. The appliances are all Whirlpool and well maintained! And of course, who doesn't love an in-unit washer & dryer. Our bedroom comfortably fits a king size bed, 2 nightstands, a dresser, and a chest of drawers. The amenities exceeded all expectations! But I'll let you check out the website or stop by for a tour to see for yourself... Words cannot describe the roof top patio! Customer Service - Amenities - Great Units
