To add to others' experiences, I went to adopt a cat. I was actually able to see the cats, which was nice. Sent in my application, no problem, they called my references which is a good sign that they care. Then got told that they have a "no outdoors" policy. Because my other cat is allowed outside, they won't allow me to adopt another cat even if the adopted cat would stay inside all the time. Would be nice to see the policy listed online or somewhere else so possible adopters could see the rules before visiting.

Adopt somewhere else! I got a dog that was supposed to be healthy, but when I went to the vet, they said I'm looking a 2,400 dollars' worth of surgeries.

Today I just adopted a beautiful Chihuahua. Oh my God I love this dog and the SPCA in Hudson Valley was the best I would highly recommend my friends to go to SPCA in Hudson Valley in new Windsor. They take excellent care of their dogs. Thank you so much Kathy.

Terrible people work here, giving you the run around and ultimately dont want to give dogs to good homes. It has been 3 weeks with me, calling several times for an adoption update and nothing. The older lady in the front was not friendly and has yet to complete my application. I DON'T RECOMMEND this facility!!! I would give 0 stars if I could.

Beat up my 70-year-old 911 first responder nurse to Twin Towers to feel our puppies and error service dogs because they could sell them on a puppy finder through the animal control woman from the Montgomery Police Department named Anne and then she worked with Amelia and John from the SPCA who pretended to come out to the house as people who wanted you help because concerned Neighbors thought that my wife needed help taking care of these puppies while all along they knew they're supposed to hold any dogs that they seize what's 30 days and they did not do that they had these dogs up for sale on Petfinder that and the animal control warden from Montgomery Police Department basically advertises to look on there site and they sell our puppies 10 of them for $5,000 each and in one day they sold the mother and father to the police and when they came to my house they thrashed my wife a 911 volunteer nurse to Twin Towers up against the New World post crippling her breaking her neck her collarbone the tip of her shoulder blade knocked out her knees and her ankles and added to already I'm broken back from carrying rescue man in Twin Towers tragedy these people can never be punished enough beware of imposters like and will tell you to call Jean heck c h t well the real dog controller whose name is h e c k or vice versa died in 2017 and his position is available for $120,000 a year Well since it comes to start with but then look at all the badass people you got to cover for

I sometimes volunteer here in the cattery. The kitties are well taken care of despite the place running on a shoestring of donations, donated items, and donated time by alot of wonderful and caring people. If you are looking for your furry companion, you will find them here.

Matt is great took in a husky I tried to save from a situation but realized he was ex military dog with ptsd. Matt stepped up fast. The women there are a bit tudey though. I called a few times to check in on the dog and was treated disrespectful and like I had no right to. Not knowing the circumstances they were being biased and rude like i was the original owner..... now i'm hearing these women are straight denying taking in dogs saying they're at capacity when they aren't. Regardless they're a nonforprofit and no shouldn't be the only answer. They should be helping people who are trying to do the right thing. Forcing someone with a dog that is aggressive to rehome them without training to correct the behavior is not serving the community best interests nor the animal. I beg management to change the behavior of the staff and come up with a strategy to serve those who are reaching out to give up their pets. Help them get training and find a home if you cannot take the dog in. Just turning people away is not what this place is designed for. Check the attitude of the people who interact with the community.

Horrible management. Approved for a puppy but because someone else had a previous approval for some random dog/puppy we did not get the one we wanted. How can a business work this way?? Animals shouldn’t go to a new forever home to someone who has a generic approved application. Totally disgraceful behavior by an agency that pleads for help and donors.

Over the years, my family has adopted four dogs from this shelter. Matt and his crew always put the best effort in finding a safe and loving homes for many animals in need. We are so grateful to have the shelter in our community. Please support by donations or volunteer, because help is always needed ❤️
