Well, the post office is closed due to staffing problems. No desk service, but you can pick up your mail. How can this review get anything but one star? No one wants to work at the post office?

Update April 12, 2024
We are back. I have no words for what was in our mailbox when we arrived. There should have been NOTHING. Yet there were numerous ads as well as catalogs along with a few surprises. One, our count tax bill from December 2023 and a wedding invitation from March 2024! Our mail forward was from October to the beginning of April. Somebody in New Paltz USPS is dropping the ball. This is not a small one time error. Just terrible service.the worse mail forwarding we have had since we began doing this in 2017. I would give them zero stars if I could. Because we were not exactly sure when we would return we put the mail on hold on April 1 ..now suddenly every day there is tow, three pieces of mail showing in the Informed Delivery Digest. I am saving those emails and when the mail gets delivered we shall see how much of it actually was saved.
Yesterday, March 30, 2024 we picked up the mail which we have forwarded to our second home in central Florida. A large mailer with our current home owners' insurance with the bill was enclosed. The post mark forwarded on the yellow sticker with our forward mail address was stamped February 10, 2024. That's right ..it was 40 days after it left NY that we received this bill. Obviously past due now!
Sadly this IS the norm for us.
The informed delivery digest is a joke. Most mail is not in it. 50% of the mail that is shown never arrives. The digest is fond of sending me pictures of ads and flyers… Several Christmas cards remain MIA. A recent wedding invitation is MIA. The tax documents for a taxable account back from January MIA but thankfully I have access to the December statement so I could still do my taxes..no thanks to the USPS.
There is no plausible excuse for a bill to take 40 days for mail forwarding. It is totally unacceptable and the lot should be fired..Recently I say a snazzy ad on the TV.for the USPS upgrading etc..really? Not holding my breathe one bit..just totally done with em..and yes we have contacted the postmaster in the past years.Mark..and all we have heard was they are doing the best they can and are training new staff..

Just watched these folks pass a first amendment audit like real Americans are supposed to. Absolutely refreshing to witness as it is unsettling how many crackpots who breathe our oxygen are the first to escalate aggression when exposed to the free rights of others. Thank you new Paltz USPS for being both professional and educated.

I bought tape from this location about half an hour ago after dropping off some packages. When I was placing the tape in my car, the lip sliced me open. I rushed back into the post office to ask for a bandage, which the employee on hand brushed off despite there now being a puddle of blood on his store floor, not to mention there was a long line of guests looking on in terrified gazes as I was bleeding out in the post office. I had to rush over to the nearby gas station to get a bandage and wash up. When I returned to the post office to request a refund on the tape, the employee laughed in my face and said the post office does not offer refunds, even after the scene that had just transpired in his store. This post office is incredibly unprofessional and I intend on never returning here.

Very rude to me I didn’t know what I was doing as I’m a young adult trying to learn, very disrespectful and really put me down, I’d like for those employees to be put in place you know who you are

Its USPS. Why giving such low ratings? The New Paltz location is clean and run as efficient as they can with staffing available. Carriers are always respectful of property and deliver in sun, snow, rain, sleet ...... Happy we have a system to deliver goods and packages at reasonable rates.

My issue is petty but an issue nonetheless. My regular carrier is great. The people in office are great. My issue is on my Sunday package deliveries, on 3 occasions they have been delayed a day. 2 of those packages I needed for Monday, which led me running to Kingston in the middle afternoon to get what I needed. All day it says package is out for delivery. All 3 times they said front door was not accessible. I have a wrap around driveway and there is never an obstruction to my front door. Today, February 5 everything was clear. So clearly nobody is delivering on some Sunday or they are slammed and play the customer. Don't blame the customer when you are not delivering. It's ridiculous. Own it. If I did that in my business, I'd be unemployed. I have to own my mistakes in business. Again, it is petty, but a real inconvenience when you have a family, to pack up and drive to Kingston. This may even be directed at the Highland office, as I believe they handle Sunday packages. Someone should addiction this.

The New Paltz USPS office has abysmal customer service, period. I went here once and left stupefied as the lady behind the counter acted as if I were an annoying fly. Literally rude. Like most of the public offices (e.g., police dept) these people were shabby. Probably more home living under a bridge in Mississippi or in a third world country where the simplest administrative tasks take months to be accomplished. I will not shop in New Paltz because it is such a mess. Now, the national USPS is truly a quandary. If you pay for 3-day delivery there is only a 50% chance it will get there in four days. Some of my 3-day packages have taken 12 days to arrive. I wouldn't complain if I weren't paying an up charge for expedited service, but to me it seems that the national USPS administration particularly logistics and that involving combinatorics is a disaster. This began under Trump when the new PO General actually closed a key processing operation in the northeast. Intra-European mail runs much more smoothly and that involves international borders! How can I order a box of screws on Amazon Sunday night and get it Monday when USPS takes 3 days for a $25 overnight and 10 days for a $8 3-day? If ever privatization were in order this is a case study!

Robin used to call my office to notify me that I had returned certified letters to come pick up, she was a doll!! She retired a few years ago. Jelani is cool, he was the clerk that helped me the day after J.Cole album dropped. We had good conversation about that. I went again today Antony was clerk that helped me. He is serious dude but courteous. I really like the people who work at this post office, compared to the other cities I lived in.

- First rate. Postal workers here do all that's possible to assist customers. They are knowlegable and make certain that post office users are satisfied with service.
