I saw the postman Pisciny at my mother’s house on his route and he went above and beyond to help me get my package. It was a signed delivery and for some reason I wasn’t having any success getting it even when I was home but he made it happen! Give that man a raise!!

I have never written a review none the less a POOR review, because I constantly try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but the service here is awful!! The women at the desk was extremely rude to me and the older women in front of me. She was borderline yelling the answers rudely to me when I just had a simple shipping question. I understand everyone has bad days, but this was truly an awful experience.

Have been calling for 4 days straight and no one answers the phone. Ive been waiting for a package to sign for but they wont come down the driveway but will gladly leave the paper at the mailbox saying sorry we missed you. Absolutely ridiculous.

I had the worst experience at this post office! There’s always something!! I went on a Friday around closing time and the middle aged women blonde hair was extremely rude along with the manager, he along with her were very nasty because they had to do THEIR JOB. I understand that it was close to closing time but you never treat a customer or talk down to one the way that they did to me. I hope no one else has this experience.

They don't ever answer the phone...long wait and then just goes to busy. they should be reported.
They haven't forwarded my neighbor's mail for almost a month. They refused to forward it when I brought it to them.
A piece of mail was returned to me saying that it could not be delivered to an address that was being used for over a decade and which has been confirmed as correct. They just blamed the post office in another state and refused to take responsibility for their error. It is, after all, the US post office not the Indiana post office.

Understaffed and poorly run. I’ve never been here before when there wasn’t a long line to the door. I mailed a package out in early December, and the USPS returned it to me at the end of December, but required my signature to receive it. Why do I need to sign for something that I mailed out? Since I wasn’t home, I requested that the USPS reattempt delivery. They never did. So finally I found the time to physically go to the post office and asked them to explain the situation. They couldn’t.

The worst post office I’ve ever been to. The staff are rude. They are never open when they should be, and I’ve waited over 25 min past their opening time with the gates still closed because no one was polite enough to tell us that they were having staffing issues and couldn’t open on time… so they just let us (a group of 10+ people on a Saturday morning) just stand there without even saying anything despite us being able to hear them from the other room. And despite asking numerous times for an answer.
This is unacceptable for a USPS and I will be reporting to USPS Inspection Services.

Well, the post office is closed due to staffing problems. No desk service, but you can pick up your mail. How can this review get anything but one star? No one wants to work at the post office?

Update April 12, 2024
We are back. I have no words for what was in our mailbox when we arrived. There should have been NOTHING. Yet there were numerous ads as well as catalogs along with a few surprises. One, our count tax bill from December 2023 and a wedding invitation from March 2024! Our mail forward was from October to the beginning of April. Somebody in New Paltz USPS is dropping the ball. This is not a small one time error. Just terrible service.the worse mail forwarding we have had since we began doing this in 2017. I would give them zero stars if I could. Because we were not exactly sure when we would return we put the mail on hold on April 1 ..now suddenly every day there is tow, three pieces of mail showing in the Informed Delivery Digest. I am saving those emails and when the mail gets delivered we shall see how much of it actually was saved.
Yesterday, March 30, 2024 we picked up the mail which we have forwarded to our second home in central Florida. A large mailer with our current home owners' insurance with the bill was enclosed. The post mark forwarded on the yellow sticker with our forward mail address was stamped February 10, 2024. That's right ..it was 40 days after it left NY that we received this bill. Obviously past due now!
Sadly this IS the norm for us.
The informed delivery digest is a joke. Most mail is not in it. 50% of the mail that is shown never arrives. The digest is fond of sending me pictures of ads and flyers… Several Christmas cards remain MIA. A recent wedding invitation is MIA. The tax documents for a taxable account back from January MIA but thankfully I have access to the December statement so I could still do my taxes..no thanks to the USPS.
There is no plausible excuse for a bill to take 40 days for mail forwarding. It is totally unacceptable and the lot should be fired..Recently I say a snazzy ad on the TV.for the USPS upgrading etc..really? Not holding my breathe one bit..just totally done with em..and yes we have contacted the postmaster in the past years.Mark..and all we have heard was they are doing the best they can and are training new staff..

Just watched these folks pass a first amendment audit like real Americans are supposed to. Absolutely refreshing to witness as it is unsettling how many crackpots who breathe our oxygen are the first to escalate aggression when exposed to the free rights of others. Thank you new Paltz USPS for being both professional and educated.
