BLECH! Cole slaw from the deli tastes like pure "refrigerator smell." I didn't think about it at the time, but the prepared deli foods were all uncovered and open to the cooler case air. It was a disgusting waste of money, straight into the trash. Store otherwise looked clean and well-stocked, but what an unfortunate lunch choice for me! I'd rather go hungry. And I am.

I was in Tops New Paltz on Thursday, August 22 in the afternoon and I'd like to commend the cashier Leslie. She was very friendly and helpful. She said she was relatively new, but seemed like a seasoned pro. Thanks for the excellent service.

I was there last night around 7pm. I saw several employees but only one check out open. As I approached the check out along with another customer, the employee turned the light off leaving zero check outs open. Why so many people would be working but no one working a check out is lost on me. I was forced to use self check out which could not scan an item and I had to wait for the clerk that was stationed there.. but she was too busy on her cell phone.

They allow pet dogs in this grocery store despite it being a health code violation. They are clearly pets, not working service animals. Employees just smile at them. Really very disgusting to have live animals where food is being served and sold. I do not consent to animal hair and waste contaminating the groceries I buy for my family.

This place has always been poorly managed. But it steadily gets worse over time. There are never enough cashiers, leading you to long checkout lines (even though there are plenty of employees standing around). There is rarely anyone at the seafood counter either (I’ve been standing here at the seafood counter writing this review and watching movies while waiting for someone to show up).

I moved to New Paltz in 2018. I have been a loyal customer to the Tops in New Paltz because the lay out is well planned out and food options are amazing. I found most employees to be friendly and helpful.On the 31st of August I went on my lunch break to pick up few items I needed for dinner. As usual I forget my bags, so I walk in and grab a bag like I always do to place my items in because there are never any baskets out front. I suddenly hear a woman yelling at me that I have to pay for the bag. I turned around and everyone in that area was looking at me. The woman had blonde hair and was over by customer service. I have always paid for my bags so I'm not sure why some random women would embarrass me in front of everyone. It was uncalled for and I have never been treated in such a manner. I walk over to her and I asked for a basket. Then she goes on to tell me that they keep the baskets behind the customer service counter because people "STEAL" them. It was at that moment that I thought to myself that I will not purchase this bag and left it on the counter. I will never shop at Tops Supermarket again.
