I’ve always been a big fan of Southern spice,An authentic South Indian restaurant in Queens, Long Island area. Recently they’ve come up with kari virundhu(meat feast)served in banana leaf on weekends. OMG I have no words to describe how delicious and exquisitely flavorful varieties they serve you on this feast. You will fall in love with this traditional South Indian meal. Mind you they’re menu changes every weekend. Did I mention they have vegetarian meal as well?? Vegetarians you will thank me later. My only request to the owner, please hire more staff’s on weekends. Like me there will be many many more fans craving for your meals in coming days. Please don’t make us to wait for long to get our food lol.

My friend recommended Southern Spice to me, and I’m so glad I checked it out. I haven’t had Indian food in a few years and don’t know what to order, but the restaurant staff gave us some really good recommendations.My family and I really liked the crab soup and chicken biriyani, but my favorite by far was the fish fry! The flavor was really distinctive and unlike anything I’ve had before. I highly recommend checking out southern spice. I can’t wait to go back and try their other dishes!

Amazing food with South Indian authenticity.Recently went for a weekend special dinner and it was mind blowing. The way food served was very traditional south style. Thanks so much for the delicious meal.

If there was any lesser stars I could have given, I would put in. The service was so bad and we had to pay 15% service charge on top of a credit card fee. The food was colder than the weather outside (-3c to be specific). Wont recommend that on any day/night.Gordon Ramsey should definitely feature this place in his Kitchen Nightmare show.

I recently visited this restaurant with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience was far below expectations. To my disappointment, the food served, including dosas and rasam, was ice cold, which significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. Additionally, the service left much to be desired; even basic amenities like water were not provided promptly. To add insult to injury, a service tax of $13 was added to our bill, which felt unjustified given the level of service we received. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this establishment. Future diners may want to consider other options where the food and service justify the cost.

If there’s an option to give 0 star, I would have given that. The service was below average. The basic thing they could serve is water, they didn’t even do that. The food was very bad. Worst place to go. Don’t recommend it at all.

Horrible service! Food was served ice cold. Not even water was served. And on top of that gratuity was automatically added in the bill in the name of “service charge” so we didn’t have an option to not tip. Was a horrible experience. Will not recommend.

We really enjoyed the feast on banana leaf!! Delicious and completely satisfying. The culture to serve food on banana leaf brings back India to life! My family loved every bit of this experience. Must visit! I highly recommend this place to anyone!

Weekend virundhu on a banana leaf and exotic food items attracted us to this place. The authentic South Indian taste and pleasant staff will allure you to visit every weekend if possible as they offer new menus each weekend.Overall the banana leaf added a touch of traditional charm to the meal and was a virtually pleasing experience making the dining process more enjoyable !!Dr Cynthia Prabakar

It's refreshing to find an Indian restaurant that embraces the traditional South Indian culinary vibe, bringing back memories of home with every flavorful bite.The chicken sukka, mutton samba biriyani, and shrimp fry were definite highlights for me – a burst of familiar tastes that made the dining experience even more special.
