The bank let me go as a Citigold customer after 16 years due to a corporate policy change and the branch laughed about it. Not sure how that's funny. If your rates weren't garbage for 3 straight years, it wouldn't have happened.

The staff doesn’t seem well trained. They don’t know how to handle anything more than a quick deposit or withdrawal. They are not well versed on policy and procedure, which makes banking with them very difficult and time consuming. I will be closing my business and personal accounts today and switching to another bank.

After 30 years banking with Citi, I am closing both my business and personal account. I have had nothing but problems with clerical errors which delayed the start of my business and have been given misinformation since I opened my business account with them 6 months ago. I feel like a pariah when I walk in because of THEIR errors and lack of proper training in handling business accounts. It finally came to a head yesterday after I followed their instructions and it still wasn’t enough to deposit checks I have been holding for months because of their refusal to deposit them. It started when it took me almost two weeks to get my business account opened with citi because of their errors. They made me come back to the bank several times to prove my identity, flagging me for fraud, despite my banking with them for decades and having moved hundreds of thousands of dollars through this bank over the course of my life time. It turns out they mistyped my SS number and my account was frozen as a result. At this time someone was waiting for a 56 thousand dollar check from me and this delayed me and almost damaged a business relationship. I handled this situation with grace and expressed frustration but I can always acknowledge that people make mistakes. What I didn’t expect was employees passing me off to each other because they are too afraid to deal with me and being made to feel like a problem customer despite being a service worker my entire life and being nothing but respectful and patient towards everyone at all times.
Fast forward soon after the start of my business, they informed me they couldn’t accept checks written out to my DBA until it was visible on the NY state website which is so completely reasonable, i accepted this explanation and I went to work to expedite this process. After several weeks I finally had everything settled and had proof on the New York State website. By now I have over 20k in undeposited checks because my business has taken off over the last month and checks rolled in faster than I could get this settled. As soon as my DBA went live on the state’s website I went right to the bank. Citibank refused to accept this and wanted a physical copy of my certificate after THEY told me weeks ago all they needed was proof on the state website. I sat there making phone calls trying to locate where the state had emailed or sent the certificate. The person I called for help asked me why I was even doing this, no further proof was needed than what was posted on the public New York State website, and told me to go to Chase, that this was absolutely nonsense. It finally clicked, I WAS tired of this nonsense, this constant running around, feeling like a criminal in my own bank. After I told the Citi associate who was trying to help me I couldn’t do this anymore and I was going to close my account and was going to Chase I was met with an “okay” and I realized how little this bank wants to do business with me anymore. I’m officially a problem they don’t want. I walked out and walked into Chase down the block and opened a business account with them within an hour. They accepted my checks and accepted my DBA which was clearly visible on the public NY state website. When I told them the issues I was having at Citi they laughed. As soon as Citibank opens today I am happily closing my accounts, both of them, and never looking back. I don’t blame the employees here, despite them being terrified to help me because of continuous issues with my account, I don’t blame them. The company needs help but that’s not my problem.

The bank Doesn’t hv the waiting list for safety box, the one who answered the phone told me to call back daily to check up if there is anyone who cancels his/her box. Doesn’t make it any sense, calling back everyday to check?
