They WILL nickel and dime you and pull on your heart strings to get you to open your wallet. And the treatment doesn't even work. Been going there for 4 years trying to help one of our dogs allergy health issues and yet nothing worked and the bills were stacking up. Changed vets and started fresh and the doctor listened to us and turned out that our dog is allergic to protein so we went with a suggested food and holy crap he's back to his normal healthy self.

These people are greedy and try their best to rack up unnecessary charges for healthy pets. Avoid at all costs! They have made it difficult to get routine care for my healthy pet. When I scheduled my pet's innoculations well in advance, they canceled the appointment last minute and then made it a hassle for me to get in again, this time splitting the appointment into two visits several weeks apart (so that they could charge more money!). And then with these two appointments they started recommending all sorts of additional exploratory tests. When I tried to talk directly with the veterinarian who was recommending these exploratory (and unnecessary) tests for my healthy pet, I was first told by the office that the vet would call me, and then the vet never did call me back. When I called back to ask to speak to the vet, then I was told by the office manager (an incredibly officious woman who--surprise!--is the practice owner's daughter) that I would never be allowed to speak to the vet about my dog's care and find out any answers regarding the vet's recommendations. If the tests are necessary, that warrants speaking to the vet. The office manager also told me that _everything_ that they recommend isn't necessary, but it's optional. That's quite a bit of verbal gymnastics to cover up that they are ripping people off. And if that is the justification, how is anyone supposed to trust _any_ recommendation? The office manager then left several sanctimonious and incredibly lengthy voicemails, and then to hammer home what a bully she is, denied a prescription for my dog and told me that I couldn't get my dog's preventive medicine unless I engage in yet another painfully frustrating conversation with someone other than the vet. Their customer service is horrible and they are greedy. And if they cared about the well-being of my pets, they wouldn't interfere with filling a prescription so that they could talk at me about how right they are in trying to rip people off. That's one way to ensure that they get to treat a very expensive problem -- block a dog's access to heart worm preventive meds. In addition to this horrible care and even worse customer service, they have repeatedly recorded incorrect information and failed to update my pets' records. These scam artists are only in business because the honest practices around here are full up and not taking new patients. I'm embarrassed for the owner of the practice that he lets his daughter conduct business this way and that the veterinarians who work for him are expected to prioritize his wallet above everything else.

I am writing this as a follow up to a recent review of mine. The New Hartford VCA was able to help me get my pet insurance refund to be what was expected for a surgery. They were very helpful

My worst experience ever was with New Hartford Animal hospital when our little dog was hit and her eyes were , literally, out of their sockets. I called them and told them who I was and that my husband would be bringing the dog there ( one mile from our house) . They said it would be a $500 charge just to have the dog seen for an emergency, which I agreed to pay . I previously adopted a dog from the shelter that belonged to my friend who had to go into long term care so they had all of my information . My husband brought the dog down there , he was in a panic and they told him he had to sit down and do all this paperwork. He told them the dog needs a vet "now" ( the eyes can't stay out of the sockets long). The vet came out and told him to " settle down , sit down and do the paper work", threatening to call the police. He left , took our dog to Waterville vet ( 20 minutes away) , they tried to save her eyes but they were now dried out and she ended up blind the rest of her life. Very bad experience.

I had a traumatic terrible incident, my little dog ran away from me and got hit by a car. I called New Hartford animal hospital and they took him in immediately on a Friday evening. They staff was so friendly, caring and genuine. Luckily PJ didn’t break anything or even fracture, he is badly bruised. Even so, these ladies took him right in and gave him immediate top of the line care. I would recommend this vet and staff to anyone who loves your pets like I do! I can never thank you enough for your comfort at this difficult time! You are truely wonderful women!

At a very concerning time with our pup, New Hartford Animal Hospital was there to ease us through what could of been an awful experience. They were incredibly helpful, kind, and understanding.

I brought a 10 month old ferret in because I knew that he was not feeling well and he was acting different. Scheduled an emergency appointment and waited in the room for over an hour and ten minutes, after having already had my appointment time bumped back multiple times. I told the vet multiple times what his symptoms were and all she kept deciding to say was, " Aw he is broken", while my ferret laid on the ground clearly suffering and in pain. Having to deal with a sick pet and hearing a vet say that made me very frustrated. It was noticed that my ferret could not stand on his own 4 feet, and the vet also mentioned that his spleen was enlarged, and decided to do nothing, but to offer me bloodwork after she had already taken my pet in the back. Then proceeded to tell me that she would recommend if we had x-rays done and that I took cans of food home for him to eat when I specifically told her that he's not eating. I believe that if she suspected something was wrong with his spleen or his stomach the x-rays should have been taken before the blood work was done. The whole time I was there I did not feel like my questions were being answered. The bloodwork results were supposed to be in by Monday and I did not receive a call so I decided to call there and they told me that the results still weren't ready and that she would have to call me back on Tuesday. When I received the call on Tuesday it was now "recommended" that I had to also buy antibiotics and I was not even told what the antibiotics would be used for. My favorite happen to pass away the next morning, I called to tell them that I would no longer need to pick up my antibiotics because he passed away unexpectedly, and nothing was said. I already paid 400 for the blood work which told me absolutely nothing, when the x-ray should have been offered before the bloodwork. Then calling to see how much it would be for a cremation, the girl nicely throughout the price of $280. Personally, I believe that this is a horrible place to take your pet, especially in an emergency situation. Unless you are made out of money do not go here, that is all they want. It was absolutely ridiculous what I had to deal with, and personally I believe that that vet had no idea what she was talking about.

I was visiting from out of town when my senior dog (who was traveling with me) got very sick. New Hartford Animal Hospital was the closest clinic to where I was staying, so I called them as soon as possible, which was Christmas Eve and they got me in immediately. When I arrived at the facility everyone at the desk was incredibly kind and welcoming. They even have scented scarves to help those furry patients who get a bit of anxiety when visiting the vet! I did not have to wait long in the waiting room, nor did I have to wait long to be seen in the examination room. In fact, the doctor (Dr Jamrosz) was waiting for me in the examination room so he could begin immediately. He was incredibly thorough, very thoughtful when he gave his diagnosis and gave great consideration to my dog's condition and the fact that we were visiting from out of town. I did not know this, but they had called my home vet in advance and received all of dog's records so they could understand her history ahead of time. I felt incredibly confident in the care that my dog and I received. Thankfully she recovered quickly before we made the trip back home. If I lived in New Hartford, I'd make NHAH my regular veterinary clinic. Highly recommend! The one thing that they missed is charging me for my exam visit - per their website, new patients get their first exam free with the voucher. I guess since I didn't print/show the voucher, I wasn't eligible. Still worth it!

My dog gets anxiety any new place. The veterinarian was awesome with her and made her feel comfortable. They discuss everything needed and prices before doing anything. They also recommend a time frame instead of doing everything at once that would have cause her to be affected. Love this place and definitely bringing her back here.

Coming off multiple bad experiences with another vet clinic in the area, I can't tell you how wonderful the staff is here. Both our dog and cat have had fairly major health issues in recent years (joint issues for the dog that ultimately required surgery; bad asthma issues for the cat) and they not only got it right with both of them, putting them back on track to live comfortably, but showed incredible compassion and professionalism. They're not dirt cheap, but the pricing is consistently more than fair for what you get in return. Can't recommend them enough.
