I have very thick, curly, unruly hair. Tony, the owner, has been doing my hair for about 8 years. It takes a special skill and very few have been able to make me look human. Tony, in his Edward Scissor hands sort of way gets it perfect every time. We talk, he snips away and boom, another great haircut. His wife Kate does great on my girlfriend's nails. I have no qualms recommending them.

I made a 2:30pm appointment for my 4-year-old daughter and myself. When we entered, there were 2 available nail technicians, which I thought was perfect. As usual, they directed my little girl to pick a color from the display case for her mani/pedi. There was a yellow post-it on one area within the case that we did not initially notice. It said the the nail polishes within this particular area cost 2 dollars more as they were longer lasting nail polishes. We mistakenly chose from those and we were very appreciative when my nail technician mentioned to me that they would cost more. She informed me it would cost $4 more for my daughter's mani/pedi ($2/each) and I thanked her and chose similar colors from the other display cases that did not cost more. I made sure I chose the correct ones from the owner, Tony, and he encouraged me to continue to use the nail polish that cost extra. My response was that I would have loved to if my daughter allowed them to stick and not peel them off. My daughter subsequently sits in her assigned pedicure chair and I go with Gabby, my wonderful nail technician to begin my gel polish. My daughter is waiting while I begin. 2:30 becomes 2:45 and she is still sitting as still as a soldier for 15 minutes. At 2:55pm (25 minutes later) I ask politely when my 4-year-old will be attended to for the sole reason she is, well 4, and her patience, while quite impressive, is not unlimited. The owner says abruptly "she is eating her lunch." While I was genuinely glad she is eating, we had an appointment at 2:30, my 4 year-old has now waited for almost a half an hour and we have somewhere to be by 4. The owner rebutted that my daughter will be done before me anyway so what's the difference. This comment did not make much sense because she needs time to dry her nails, while I do not (I was getting gel) so the time we both complete our nails is not of equal standing. Also, how long do you expect a preschooler to wait this long past her appointment time and still remain still for the mani/pedi? She's a toddler! We finished at the same exact time, but now my daughter needed time to dry. I ask the cost of the nails to pay and I gladly tip each technician over 20percent as usual.I join my little girl where she is patiently drying her nails. At this time, my nail technician approaches me and states I need to pay $5 more for my daughter as she used a few colors, not just one. I said, "huh? I purposely replaced the $4 nail polish as to not spend that additional money AND consulted w the owner to avoid additional charges, so why would someone not tell me that more than one nail polish costs $5 AFTER I already paid?" I tried to speak with the woman who I heard direct Gabby towards me to collect the money, but she completely ignored me. At this point, I see my daughter begin to get a little anxious and I just say, "please have a manager discuss this with me and I will be happy to talk it out." No one came up to me, my daughter's nails dried and we began to exit and cheerfully thank everyone and bid them farewell. I figured they decided not to pursue it. As we exit, I hear the woman yell to the technician, "go get the 5 dollars from her!!!"The owner who followed me outside said, "over 5 nail polishes is 5 dollars." That was music to my ears because my daughter did not use over 5 nail polishes. He responded, "well it takes a lot of time to open more than one polish." I said, "my daughter took practically no time at all and you had her wait for almost 30 mins to begin her appointment. " He continues to argue with me and tell me how time consuming multiple nail polishes are... this is ridiculous. NO ONE was waiting for an appointment, my daughter waited for 30 mins, NO ONE told us about the additional charge and we had already paid and provided the tip! This was really not a way to treat a long-time , generous customer and a toddler...Services: Manicures

I am very sad to leave this poor review because I have been a loyal CU beauty center customer for quite some time, but today was just unacceptable. I made a 2:30pm appointment for my 4-year-old daughter and myself. She was so excited for this "mommy and daughter salon" time as she put it. When we entered, there were 2 available nail technicians, which I thought was perfect. As usual, they directed my little girl to pick a color from the display case for her mani/pedi. There was a yellow post-it on one area within the case that we did not initially notice. Also, how long do you expect a preschooler to wait this long past her appointment time and still remain still for the mani/pedi? She's a toddler! Fast forward to the completed process and the reason for my review: My daughter absolutely loved her nails and I loved mine. We were both happy customers. We finished at the same exact time, but now my daughter needed time to dry. This was really not a problem. We had just enough time to make our 4pm and I was glad the nail technician hopefully ate her lunch. I don't want anyone going hungry! I ask the cost of the nails to pay and I gladly tip each technician over 20percent as usual. I join my little girl where she is patiently drying her nails. At this time, my nail technician approaches me and states I need to pay $5 more for my daughter as she used a few colors, not just one. I said, "huh? At this point, I see my daughter begin to get a little anxious and I just say, "please have a manager discuss this with me and I will be happy to talk it out." No one came up to me, my daughter's nails dried and we began to exit and cheerfully thank everyone and bid them farewell. I figured they decided not to pursue it. I had already paid what was told to me, he knows I was avoiding the $4 charge so why would I pay a

Tony was very patient and talented. He was honest with the entire process. The cost overall was also very affordable. He is very professional and clear. The results were amazing. I was in for bleaching, hair color/hair cut.

I've taken my grandma and grandma-in-law here for spa pedicures (both in their 80s, both Indian immigrants and unfamiliar with nail salons in general) and the employees were very caring, respectful, and patient. That's an immediate 5 stars in my book. I've also come here for pedicures and powder manis myself and left very satisfied. Def my go to when I'm in Rockland!

My Daughter just went there for a mani/pedi. She used a $40 gift card. Her friends used a credit card to buy the gift card. When she paid, they added $7 to her bill, saying it was the fee for the credit card. She said that she's not using a credit card. In his records, he keeps track of how credit cards are purchased and you have to pay the credit card rate since your friends used a credit card to buy the gift card. That is wrong on so many levels. I will never go there again. Myself and my two daughters have given them so much business. Never again! They are crooks!

I first came here after hearing from a friend that they do the powder gel manicures very well here. I came for the first time about 6 months ago and had such a good experience. CU Beauty is less expensive (only $35) and does the powder gel manicure better than my previous salon. They have a lot of colors to choose from and great customer service. I usually make an appointment since my mom, sister and I all come together, but I do not think you need one. The best part is how clean the salon is. This is something that bothers me at other salons so it is comforting to feel sanitary when coming here.

After finding out that the salon I normally get my hair done was closed because it was Christmas Eve, I was apprehensive to try a new salon. I have wanting to get a specific hair cut for a while and finally got the guts to do it. (yes, last minute!) I wanted to surprise everyone in family with this "new look" and was in a desperate need of getting someone with experience to make my vision happen. Obviously, I had to look in yelp, many places were closed and the places that were "opened" didn't answer their phones! I stumble by CU beauty, read their reviews and decided to book an appointment. A gentlemen, who I'll later meet by the name of Tony, answered. I warned him about my curly hair, about the idea I had about getting a specific hair cut, and zoom! He was able to schedule a last minute appointment. Walking in the place I noticed that it is super clean, there's a coat rack for customer to hang their coats, magazines organized flat on a take I noticed that in addition to doing hair they offer nail service, pedicure and waxing. (The only reason, I am giving it a 4 out of 5 was because no one greeted me when I enter. ) When it was my turn, Tony started 5 mins before my scheduled time. He asked me various questions, I showed him the picture of the looked I was longing for. He washed my hair, and began with the cutting/ styling my hair! Tony has talents! He was able to replicate my hair with the picture I showed him (he even incorporated the modifications I asked about the length being a bit longer). Tony is good at what he does! He took his time to make sure that He fulfilled the image I had in mind. YES I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TONY! I am completely satisfied about my hair cut and new look! I want to thank Tony for being patient with me, for asking questions to clarify what I want and for being able to deliver and make sure that he actually gave me the hair cut I wanted. His attitude shows that he truly cares about his customer and I know that he definitely take prides in his work! if you are reading this, THANK YOU AGAIN TONY!!! I love my hair cut and will be returning! I'll included a picture of the hairstyle I wanted and showed him, and the hair cut he game me. Mind you I've made some modifications on the look I wanted for myself.

Beyond disappointed in my first trip to CU beauty. The lady doing my gel manicure seemed to not care and proceeded to constantly get polish on my skin and cuticle. She then told me that my nails were oily and said this must be my first time receiving gel(it is not). I am upset with the way my manicure turned out, would have just done it myself if I knew polish would be left everywhere.
