As a physical therapist myself (pediatric specialist, not sports,) choosing the right professional to guide my own rehab was very important. I have been to several local places and my experience at Island Sports with Dan and Jesse has been far superior to anywhere else I have tried. They give personalized attention in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Dan knows the ins and out of sports and ortho rehab in a way that I do not and is able to guide me with what to expect during my recovery, how hard to push and if what I'm feeling is typical for the injury/recovery. Hoping for no future injuries, but if my family needs a PT, we will be going to Island Sports from now on.

I have worked with Dan Donato at Island Sports and Physical Therapy for the past several years. Most recently, his knowledge and techniques have allowed me to recover from two knee replacements and a total foot reconstruction. I was able to fully recover from my first knee replacement in 6 weeks and proceeded to have the second one done . My knees were fully functional and pain free so that I was able to move forward with my foot surgery. We're still working on full recovery from the latter but I am making excellent progress. I was told by the surgeon that it would require a full year to heal from this difficult procedure and I am well ahead of schedule in achieving my goal. Thank you Dan for your excellent therapeutic interventions and patience. MJB

I injured my back several years ago and as a result I had extensive surgery (3 fusions and 9 laminectomies) late in 2022. After the surgery I had a week of in-hospital PT and 10 sessions of at home PT. thought that was it, that I would heal by myself and that I didn't need any additional therapy. I was wrong. I had several falls that resulted in injuries. The most serious injury required another surgery to repair damage to the original surgery. After giving that surgery a little time to heal my wife finally convinced me to get PTand recommended Island Sports. She was right. After a year of unrelenting pain and difficulty walking I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. After only 10 sessions my pain has decreased considerably and my walking is improving every day. I realize that I still have a long road ahead but I intend to go back to bowling at some point. That's something I couldn't even dream about a few weeks ago. The people at Island Sports PT are the best. They're all friendly, caring, compassionate and professional. They're just nice people. I really look forward to and enjoy my visits even though I know it's going to hurt. I know I'm going to feel better afterwards

I have undergone 3 major spinal surgeries. My first was 2011, an 8- level cervical fusion. Prior to this, my balance and ability to walk were severely compromised. After leaving rehab, I decided, due to my wife's excellent experience, to go to Isand Sports. I was given a program designed for my specific needs. I was closely supervised, and monitored. I began to recover based on Dan Donato's - and staff's- care and expertise. But I didn't realize how much i recovered until our first beach trip. When we arrived at the beach, we discovered that the boardwalk to the beach was washed away, and this necessitated a long mile and a half walk burdened with beach stuff. It wasn't until we returned to our car that I had managed to easily walk 3 miles in sand. Prior to my treatment, 20 yards on pavement was an achievement. Two major surgeries later, I'm currently a patient at Island Sports.I'm never alone either on the exercise table or the gym.I have osteoporosis,a paralyzed right leg, have limited use of my arms, and am taking a blood thinner, so a fall could be catastrophic. I am supervised and offered any assistance I may look like I need. And many is the time that while standing to do an exercise, a welcome hand is placed on my back to steady and support me. I don't ask for this, but the point is I DON'T HAVE TO.I feel safe and in very good hands at Island Sports and Physical Therapy in Nesconset. It is also a place that provides the kind of atmosphere that patients feel welcome and also have the ability to interact with other patients, if one desires.I highly recommend Dan Donato and Island Sports and Physical Therapy in Nesconset.

When I get my therapist I’m glad but don’t like getting pawned off on the assistants. I don’t get a good massage, I feel like I don’t get the attention I want. I can do the exercises at home…I don’t need to travel there for that. So when I only have 8 visits approved by my insurance, every visit is important to me. Today was the first day my therapist wasn’t there and they gave me student to work with. While I understand the student has to learn, I don’t want to be insensitive to that but I just don’t feel like I got enough out of my appointment today. Disappointing
