“I like the selection of spirits. Good customer service. If you don't see what you want, just ask. If they don't have what you want they try to find something similar until they stock what you like.”

“This is a great addition to Bergen County. The staff were awesome, friendly and most importantly knowledgeable. The lounge area is warm inviting and comfortable. They have an offering of signature cocktails, I went with a classic old fashion. They nailed it. We ordered the hummus and a flat bread with porcini mushrooms and onion. If you are reading this you are interested in this place I can tell you it is worth it. Enjoy”

“An absolute gem hidden in the heart of Chauncy square. What makes this my go to liquor store is the knowledge, professionalism, and friendliness of the owners. They are always recommending bottles that seem adventurous to the palette but are worth taking the risk!! I learn something new each time I go in whether it be about the wine, vineyard, grape etc. Go check them out!! You won't be disappointed!”

“Thank you Grapes! I was looking for a very specific bottle of French wine from Hermitage and Daniel Posner there was quite helpful when I reached out via email to confirm they had it. (Which wasn't the case with the other company who will go nameless. :-( ) I ordered the wine the next day, online (seamless!) and it was delivered exactly when they said it would be. Thank you very much for the great customer service! Cheers!”

“Great neighborhood shop, staff are always friendly & helpful. Really good wine selection, esp for a small store. I walk 10 blocks to get there bc it's worth it. But I also often use their delivery service, it's very prompt and efficient.”

“this is my first visit to Gary’s. I loved the depth and breadth of their wine inventory. I really like South African wines and many wine shops either do not carry them at all, and if they do, have a very limited selection. Gary has a nice selection of South African wines as well as Italian wines, with the Italian wines featuring a lot of regions that most other wine shops do not. Kudos to Gary’s! Oh, and by the way, their wines are priced very fairly .”

“I love shopping here. They use the space well and house an impressive variety of wine and spirits. Eric is an absolute sweetheart and gives the best recommendations so you’ll never buy something you don’t like. Hours are great and prices are super fair for the area. Conveniently located across from the Hartsdale train station - stop by and chat Eric up, you won’t be disappointed!”

“Though the store does not carrry a huge inventory of wines, there is a bit of everything in the store. From old world, new world, to champagne and beer, cognac and whiskey and others, there's no way you can leave here empty-handed.Truthfully, the store runs through a gamut of prices to fit any budget. More importantly, on two different occassions, the staff is on point on providing excellent customer service. That makes me a fan! At wine ventures, there's a special bottle waiting for you. I know I found mine.”

“The owner knows every detail about every bottle of gin in the store and generously offered a tasting of any of those she had open. There's also a friendly dog who greeted us at the door and magnet tiles to keep the kids busy while you browse”

“Gigantic, and the inventory is insane. It's impressive enough to wow people who come up from the city. The add-on restaurant and brewery are nice too. Drinking beer out at the big picnic tables by the Sheldrake River (I should say "river") is the best.

I'm taking off a star cuz they are always out of the one thing that I come here to buy, Dr Brown's diet cherry soda There's a big hole in the shelf in the same spot every time. They could order more but they don't for some reason. Pure luck whether they have it or not.”

“The BEST small high-end wine shop in Harlem. By far. I love the selection and I love the staff. They’re super helpful and lovely people to talk to. It’s my go to shop. They’ve got a great website and will also deliver quickly if you call. I’ve literally made friends on the subway just by seeing and connecting over our Pompette Wine bags lol this is a beautiful little neighborhood shop for wine enthusiasts but also with great knowledge if you’re just dipping your toe into the wine and spirits water. Also love when they have liquor and wine reps come in and educate on their stock.”

“Vinyl Beer is changing the game in New York's beer scene. It started as a beer store and now includes a bar, creating a unique blend of shopping and socializing. The space is bright yet feels cozy, thanks to its compact size. The bartender stands out for being super friendly, making everyone feel welcome. There's a strong community vibe here, with patrons chatting about the latest in beer. It's a refreshing change from the usual spots in the city. The atmosphere encourages new friendships through shared interests in beer. This spot is more than just a place to grab a drink; it's where locals gather to connect and share experiences. The approachable staff and lively discussions make it a key spot for community life in an often isolated city. Vinyl Beer offers a clever twist on selecting beers. Instead of just ordering at the bar, the bartender picks out beers from the store shelves for customers to try. This not only shows off their wide range but also their thoughtful selection process. The beers are top-notch, and the prices are reasonable for what you get. This mix of retail and bar, along with excellent service and selection, makes Vinyl Beer a standout destination for beer lovers.”

“Always great prices. I am a chef and always need good selections and opinions. They have both, and the prices are amazing . The customer service is a little rough, though. Try to go Monday through Thursday. Friday always has a line.”

“Hands down the best wine store in this neighborhood (I'd say Manhattan, but it's hard to top Astor Wine). I wandered in one day and asked them my standard question, the litmus test for whether a wine store knows their stuff or not: do you have any Lebanese wine? Not only did they know what I was talking about (Bible, Jesus, Cana, nuff said), they knew there was a whole universe of Lebanese wine beyond Chateau Musar (the one that everyone knows). They had a spectacular collection of wines from Serbia, Croatia, Georgia and other little-known but excellent wine countries. Most of all: unlike other wine stores in this area, which can be exhaustingly snobbish (I'm looking at you, Martin Brothers), the folks at Grape Collective are excited about wine and excited to tell you about it. They don't care how much money you're looking to spend. They care about telling all the different stories of wine—different kinds, different grapes, different places. If you can't afford a trip to Zagreb, then a bottle from Grape Collective might be the cheap ticket. Even if you don't buy anything at all, it's a pleasure and an education just to drop by.”

“Full disclosure: I've only placed one online order with Bottle Grove, so I can't speak to the experience of shopping there physically. But what an excellent experience I had.I placed an order in late August 2023. Within minutes, I received an email from Chris that the following week would be too hot to safely ship wine, but that if this was an urgent order, they could make it happen. I never would have thought of this, and never would have expected a vendor to put this much thought into their fulfillment. I accepted their offer to hold shipment until the weather turned around, and received a follow-up note confirming the bottle was gift wrapped and shipped (with tracking number provided!) from another member of the team, Matthew.Bottle Grove is doing customer service and fulfillment the right way! Thank you!”

“The store is clean and organized! They have such great service, their workers all know a great deal. Even helped me decide on which sake to buy for a friend's gift. There's always sales and great fair prices. They leave you boxes at checkout for your purchase. Best Warehouse in the Bronx!”

“The BEST neighborhood wine shop! This charming little spot has so many unique wines, plus spirits, that you just don’t get at other shops. Grab a bottle or two as a last-minute gift and take a few minutes to ask Yahaida, who is hands down the coolest small biz owner, for a recommendation to try something new. I’ve recently fallen in love with a Toscana Bianca which I would have never discovered without her and which is simply divine with fish, spicy curries, and cheese. Thanks, Yahaida!”

“Whenever I'm on 161st, the is the 2nd best liquor discount store. They always have unique bottles, and the prices are always good and affordable. You should stop in when you're in the neighborhood. You won't be disappointed. The service is always pleasant, and the atmosphere stays quiet unless the re's a Yankee Game, then it gets really crowded.”

“I had the greatest time visiting this incredible wine store and gallery. I came to meet a friend and we turned out getting two eclectic red bottles of wine. They were incredibly flavorful rich and bold, Pascal was wonderful and lovely host. I can’t wait to visit again soon.”

“Wonderful local liquor store! They have a great selection and seem pretty knowledgeable on the inventory. I had a million questions and the employees were more than glad to answer all of them. Everyone seemed so nice (although busy) feels like a real family owned business, I’ll be back!”

“By far, the best wine store on the UWS, especially the Italian wine section. They have premium selected tastings almost every night which are not limited to wine - they include rum, scotch, and even vermouth! Amanda has made fabulous wine recommendations for my dinner parties and my guests are never disappointed!”
