Crooked, rude, and sketchy owner.
I went in to buy a bicycle pump. When I got home excited to fill my tires, it didn’t work. Noticed the hose was broken at the tip. No big deal! These things happen.
When I go in hoping to exchange or buy a more expensive and hopefully better quality one, the owner said he wouldn’t take it back and accused me of breaking it myself! What interest would I have in wasting my time in that endeavor.
I said that was a crazy accusation and he refused to exchange or even allow me to buy another one for insulting him.
He insulted me!
He can keep the paltry $24 dollars. It’s the principle of the thing-
And this man has no principles.
You would do better to buy from Amazon than deal with this man.
Unfortunately this is a small business you should not support.

Horrible business that will rent you dangerous bikes that fall apart when you are riding them. Had a pedal randomly fall off at speed, causing a wreck that bloodied my friend up, which could have been much worse if a car has been nearby. Only refunded the one bike out of the three of us, even though it cut the whole trip short after only half any hour end. Employees got extremely aggressive and threatening when pushed about refunds. When they picked us up at the site of the wreck, they put us in the back of a van with no seats which was very unsafe on a winding highway road. They were just horribly rude the entire experience, even before the mishap.

Lost a favorite hat from Montauk Surf shop ordering a new one was quick, easy in stock. We live in Kansas so they expedited and shipped it very quickly. Definitely going to shop there on our next visit to Montauk

DO NOT RENT THE MOPEDS!!!! We rented the mopeds for my bday weekend on Labor Day. We paid for the mopeds ahead of time and reserved them. When we went to pick them up they were pretty beaten up (missing mirrors, etc) None of them were charged (they were battery operated) so we made it about 10 min out and had to turn around to bring them back. The man in charge of the rentals said he would credit my account for all 4 mopeds we rented. He failed to credit me for two of them. I had many text messages back and forth with him over the next two months and he assured me he was taking care of the credit yet never did. I had to finally dispute it with my bank, and just received the credit nearly 4 months later (because the bank issued it, no help from the rental owner). I will never rent a moped from there again. In fairness my daughter rented an e-bike that was great from this place. The moped rentals seemed to be separate from this store, but the store promoted it and that’s where I met the owner of the moped rental. I hope this store doesn’t allow this man to do business with their customers any longer.

BEWARE: DOES NOT ACCEPT RETURNSI purchased a pump for an exercise ball. The pump was cheaply made and overpriced $15 vs $5 for something similar on Amazon. I figured I could return it if it didn’t work.The next day after I struggled 30 minutes attempting to inflate my exercise ball I tried to return the pump.The store would not refund me, accused me of returning the item after I had gotten use from it, reiterated the pump worked, and treated me with disrespect saying I was lucky to even get store credit (the owners wife)I have never been treated so poorly at an establishment and will never walk in here again.

For good reason, this has been a Montauk staple since I can remember. Was here this morning with my daughter and was reminded of why so many of us treasure Montauk. There are good people, like the store's owner, who keep Montauk together as a community.About the store. First, it sells the most fun things of any store on Long Island. Second, it has the best bargains in Montauk. Third, everything it sells is nice and high quality. The friendly reception is the icing on top!

I read reviews that said this store had the worst customer service. I have to say I absolutely disagree. I sent an email to them on a Sunday evening and not only received an email response, I received a phone call within the hour. I was extremely impressed with their prompt response!

We got surfboard rentals here and had no issues. They were happy to provide us with cardboard and straps to fasten the boards to the roof of my car. It was $45 for a board rental for the day, and we brought our own wetsuits but I believe they rent those as well.This doesn't appear to be the most hardcore surf shop in the area, but it is open the earliest which is helpful for getting out for the best waves early.

For bike rentals: a tandem bike is pictured but they do not rent them. The bikes we rented were pretty solid but needed a bit of maintenance. I had a really hard time reaching the lowest gear on my bike and I did end up losing my chain at one point. Subtracting a star for black fingers! Haha

I have never left a review before BUT I'm calling out the rudest, worst place I have ever been. Rented E-bikes for a promised 4 hr min rental. Bike lost power after 3 hrs- upon return NO courtesy at all. In fact owner blasted us out of the store. DO NOT a sponsor this A**H*** in any way shape or form. All cheap shit!!!!

I bought a really cheap quality swim suit at this place because I had forgotten my suit and had to meet my son at a friend's home. Even though the suit was just pieces from suits and incomplete and was probably worth maybe $10-20 they asked for $59 but when I paid they didn't give a receipt and I wasn't asked to sign anything. They charged my credit card $596.74 and I've been trying to call to fix this and I do not get calls back and I have disputed the charge but it reappeared on my card. I believe this is deliberate fraud and I imagine they target distracted tourists whenever possible and overcharge them and because they don't use signatures or give receipts - no one notices until their credit card has been charged. I had a terrible feeling when I was there that it wasn't a safe place and I was mortified by how overpriced the unbelievably low quality merchandise was but I was late, distracted and in a hurry and decided to buy the suit and of course, I got scammed. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. It is corrupt and the products are extremely low quality and horribly overpriced (even before the scamming happens.)

My friend and I rented electric mopeds from here. The attendant was very kind and covered the basics of the vehicle in under 3 mins. I had the time of my life riding the moped down Route 27. Highly recommended
