We were so thrilled to spend 3 days at HBC to celebrate our recent engagement. The property is beautiful, and right on the beach. The staff is attentive and friendly. The owners put a ton of care into the property and the guest experience - it shows. From the complimentary wellness classes, to the smores kits on the firepits, no detail was spared. HBC is located within a quick walk from town, which was very convenient for us. The spa was awesome, and my fiance says it was the best massage she’s had in years. Already planning our stay for next summer!

For the location it sits on a very busy corner in Montauk.
What they have done to create a relaxing atmosphere with open spaces, fun furniture, and nice pool. They serve a continental breakfast and offer food and drinks during the day. I give it four ????
Walkability: Close to all that Montauk to offer. Shopping, restaurants, and beach

I stayed at Hero Beach Club for two nights and I loved the fun vibe of this hotel! Upon arrival, I chose a complimentary drink to enjoy while I walked around back to see the sculpture garden and lively backyard. I had a cozy room on the second floor which had a lovely view of both the town and the beach. I was excited and anxious to see and open a few welcome gifts that they put in the rooms - I love freebies!!! The property was fun to hang out at during the day in the heated pool and even after dark by the firepits (really nice amenities for the cooler weeks from May to early June). They serve complimentary breakfast at the lobby bar in the mornings which was perfect to grab before my morning walk on the beach. The hotel is beachside and is easily accessible from the yard's gated walkway. Even though you can walk into the town from the hotel, I found it to be more fun to use the complimentary bikes to get around. I would love to stay here again!

Everything true to pictures and fair price. Giving 2 stars however, as a strange incident occurred where just after me, a woman, and my mother visibly left our hotel room to go eat we received a call at 4:45 pm from male reception staff asking if they could take a picture from the view from our room. We said no as we found this very odd. We were pretty sure the room next to us w/ a similar view was vacant and it wasn’t like it was sunset yet or anything so we do not understand this request for someone who regularly works there. We didn’t know if they wanted to check us out, steal something, put cameras in, or make it easier to break in later on. It’s just common sense in 2024 that this felt really predatory towards two women alone in a somewhat middle of nowhere place during a slow time (middle of the week). We came back and offered to let staff take picture in case we misunderstood the culture there as we are city folk, but they said they’d do it tomorrow. Balcony door was unlocked when we came back when we are pretty sure we locked it. Staff also did not seem apologetic that the request offended us, which is not very professional for a room that was almost $900/night. Really gave us the creeps and I hope management teaches staff better. I could have not posted this, but if this is a legitimate safety issue it should be out there.

Beyond over priced. Not worth it. Highly advise staying at cheaper options as this is marginally better. Also beware of hidden resort fees which continue to run up your bill.
Noteworthy details: They use resort fees which are a dishonest way to add more rate to the room rate.

Had a great winter stay here before they closed for the season. Perfect yard area to play with our son, right off the beach, beautiful rooms, and very friendly staff!

A wonderful place near the beach. Lots of fun activities in the courtyard, including a small fire where you could grill "mother-in-law's" El marshmallows every evening. Great massage but it has to be ordered in advance. No breakfast but there was coffee and fresh croissants every morning??
Walkability: Just 2 minutes from a beach that is fantastic. They have so comfy sunbeds. You never want to leave. The beach is so wide and not so many people, you can take a long walk ?

Picture it 1980’s the Catskills - an intimate place where families can go back to every year and create life long memories. Now fast forward to modern day out east Montauk, that same feel of family togetherness - beach, pool and s’more making - all at Hero Beach!Food & drinks: Everything in walking distance!

$800+ a night for a motel experience. Rooms below par. Manager’s rude. Food stinks. I’ve stayed all over the world and this is the worst value to cost hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

A surprisingly lovely stay. The hotel had very few rooms but great amenities, so everything was close and intimate. The rooms have a view of the fire pits in the backyard. We used the steam room ?♀️ in the morning which was rarely used. There was a simple breakfast included as well. Everything was lovely and nice!

Very limited level of service leading up to my stay. I reached out to them multiple times over email and phone. Hotel itself is fine as long you understand you’re being overcharged

Staff is very nice. The common areas are enjoyable. The beach nearby is good and clean. Pool is relaxing. Location is accessible.
Agree. Too expensive for what is offered. Better for guests in their 20s.
Downsides:
Agree. Do not book a first floor room. You can hear people moving - just walking.
Walls are thin. Someone in a room adjacent was playing music at 5 am without headphones. Their choice (inconsiderate? yeah) but they probably weren’t expecting anyone to hear it. It’s been 1-1.5 hours of early morning music and we tried to notify hotel staff.
We could have been hit by a car that sped around a blind corner on the walk to the beach. We later saw a couple on electric scooters who could have been hit as well. In each case, only a few seconds made the difference. There should be signage - Stop or Yield to Peds etc. to slow cars/drivers and warn others . And possibly a mirror so drivers or peds can see people are walking/driving.
No pool service. You have to go to the front desk to order drinks and walk them back.
Agree. Sink is small plus at the entrance to your room and not IN the bathroom. Agree. Not really anywhere to sit.
Plus on the first floor you cannot open your shades for sunlight and view because it’s a fishbowl/no privacy.
Still I am giving it 3 stars which may seem surprising!
Update - Husband who got up to work reports “No one at the front desk…card doesn’t work to get in”. I also sent a text and no reply. Hence the 2 stars for Service! It’s not that staff are not nice.
