I am normally not a negative review type of person but I am so bothered by the way the employee named Greg spoke to me when returning a Snow Blower that I owned for 2 weeks and would not stay running.Upon meeting the employee Greg for the first time to deal with this issue, Greg seemed very bothered that he had to turn off his music in his ear to help a customer. Greg first asked if I used the machine at all and I said yes, it ran for 10 minutes. Greg responded by saying "Okay so its a used machine, take it to sayville for repair"I explained that I was not interested in going through the hoops for repairing a machine owned for two weeks and that I was there to return and either purchase the same model or a better modelGreg walked away and another person said to return the item to the cashier up front. When I went to get the machine, Greg was back out front and saw that the lever arm for the speed adjustment was not connected. Greg then accused me of hitting something and breaking the machine. I explained to greg that this lever arm came off on my way home from purchase and I was going to rig it back up, I also explained that if the Front of the machine is in perfect condition with no dents scrapes or anything wrong with it, how would I hit something and bend a lever arm that's behind the machine under the handles that you push. Gregs responded by putting his hand up towards me saying "Whatever, Sure thing Guy".I then started to explain to Greg that his attitude is unacceptable especially considering I am a very frequent customer who buys most of my material for my business here and that I was there to get another machine. Greg continued his attitude and walked away shaking his head at me.The manager of the store returned the machine.When I left, I was out front looking at more machines because I wanted to buy another one but decided that based on Gregs extremely poor customer service and attitude towards me, that I would take my business to Costellos down the street in Rocky Point and purchased another Snow Blower from them.I am extremely disappointed and still bothered by this experience 24 hours after it happened. The actions and behavior of this employee named Greg is totally unacceptable. I have shopped here for many years because I believe in keeping the money in the local businesses instead of big box retail.True Value lost a great customer yesterday, I am now moving all of my business down the street to Costellos ACE Hardware.

Doesn’t get any better than Brinkmann’s. Everyone has always been friendly and helpful. These things you don’t keep at a big box store.

Awful customer service. Bad attitudes. Was a reward member for three years now ,But after the rude attitude and lack of customer skills I won’t be going here anymore. Do yourself a flavor, drive two-three minutes east to Ace Hardware in Rocky Point. So much more helpful. So much nicer. Worth the extra minutes .“Less than perfect experience..”. Is that meant to be condescending? I wasn’t asking for a “perfect experience.” I was asking for just a shred of help and respect for being a loyal customer . I think I see why the customer service and attitudes are so poor now.

The kiln dried wood was delivered on time. The delivery was placed exactly where I ask. Great service and quick delivery.

I walked in and there was not one staff member on the floor to help me, all of the men were just walking around having conversations amongst themselves. Where are those girls that would always greet you with a smile and be ready to help? Bring them back! Never shopping here again until this place can get themselves together like they used to be.

Since google screens the negative posts, hopefully I can get my opinion out here without being silenced. My opinion is allowed to be shared, when I have an experience at a business...bad or good it should be allowed to be heard. This is what I had written:Where did all the employees that worked there go. The girls that used to work there were so friendly and always helped me whenever I needed. It's definitely not the happy friendly place it used to be. You don't even get greeted walking in the door anymore. It's concerning what is going on there.

I have been going to Brinkmanns Hardware for 6 years .Always was greeted with a smile and found the staff friendly and knowledgeable about all the products. Last few months there seems to be a change in staff and atmosphere. I heard Ali is know longer there which is very disappointing ..Always smiling always willing to go out of her way to help. I noticed other staff are also gone. Tells me that possibly new management has taken over and they are not showing loyalty to their long time employees .I will take my business to Costellos down the road.

Not sure what’s with the turnover in staff, there seems to be only 1 or 2 familiar faces. I hope it’s for good corporate or economic reasons because the friendliness and customer services are suffering. I already find myself not patronizing this location as often as in the past and that’s from someone who’s a proponent of shopping locally.
