Avoid, avoid, avoid. Took my cat who suddenly could not walk on his right foot although there was no apparent wound. After almost 3 hours Vet looked at the cat and without even touching the paw said "it's swollen" (Duh). This "exam" cost $200. She left the room and a vet tech came in 10 minutes later with a $2800 breakdown of treatment cost if we proceeded - (part of the bill was for "dressing of wound" even though there was no wound - the vet didn't even examine the paw). Couldn't afford this ridiculous pricing. I left - $200. poorer and no treatment. My poor baby had to wait to see my regular vet - total cost at regular vet was $265. This is part of a corporate system, the vets are not private practitioners, but employees of a corporation which sets the prices. Sad.

I just want to thank all the staff and Dr Ursitti! Yesterday, May 27, 2023, was a very difficult day. My precious fur baby, Sabastian, was not well and needed medical attention. My usual veterinary was closed for the holiday and other veterinary practices said they were booked and could not squeeze us in. Finally, I was directed to Guardian. I believe it was Divine intervention! They were very busy but took us right away. The compassion and genuine concern given by everyone was overwhelming! Inspite of their being extremely busy they all took time to listen and to treat my Sabastian as if he were their own, showing him much respect and dignity to the very end. Not once was an attitude given nor did I feel we were being given the "bum's rush". What was also impressive was overhearing phone calls being made to others to let the people know they were running a little behind along with alerting those in waiting area of the same dilemma. A lot can be learned by the human medical emergency care by observing the professionalism and genuine care given by the folks at Guardian on this very hard and sad day for me. Words cannot truly express my gratefulness and overall feeling of being blessed to have had the opportunity to experience the ultimate compassion and care given to my Sabastian in his final hours and to me. You folks are the best and I will never forget you all! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Sincerely Submitted by Sandy M., Tuxedo, NY

I used them years ago and it was a good response. Recently I had a Shih Tzu that was in distress due to Kidney issues and even though they closed at 7 AM and I got there at 6:10 AM, they would not see him because they were in the middle of discharge. I have no idea if their services are good anymore, but if they had any empathy, they would have seen my dog. He had to be put down anyway but the fact they would not even see him bothers me. I will go elsewere from now on for emergencies.

Wonderful staff! PLEASE take your animal here if needed. I didn't make it in time for my soulmate to pull thru. But my baby girl passed on Christmas, and her ashes were ready to take home to celebrate the new year with me. They were very kind in one of the worst moments of my life.

Coming from California with a lot to choose from, I found myself freaking out trying to make a decision on what 24/7 emergency vet to take my fur baby to. I decided to stay more local before I traveled any further and decided on Guardian since there's decent reviews and they participate with ScratchPay. We had to wait about 2 hours since there was another patient in critical condition, but that wasn't an issue to us since our boy wasn't in life-threatening conditions. The reception was nice, the vet tech was very informative and gentle, and the vet was as well. The vet (I don't remember her name) gave us a lot of different options/home remedies on how to treat our dog's wounded and infected paw. They quickly treated him & prescribed him medicine at a reasonable price (keep in mind that emergency pet care is a convenience, So their prices will obviously be a bit higher than your typical primary vet). Overall we left feeling very satisfied with the service and grateful that our dog received adequate care. I definitely would recommend this emergency clinic if you are in desperate need of care, especially on a Sunday. Thank you Guardian Vet Emergency for relieving our anxiety and helping our fur baby heal ! & to those that are reading this, please keep in mind that vets, vet techs, and receptionists are doing their absolute best to treat everyone's pet in a timely manner. If you are not immediately being treated, there's more than likely a patient that needs to be more of a priority at that given moment. A little kindness, empathy, and gratitude goes a long way :)

Fast service, very professional and friendly and CARING! Was nervous about using an emergency vet service but there was no reason to be. Greatly appreciate their help.

I brought my very sick 18 year old cat in; Dr.John was kind and caring and took time to explain the situation. The people at the desk and phone were also helpful and nice. I have been there a few times in the evening, it was not crowded and was seen quickly. Having a pet is not inexpensive especially as they age.

I literally can't not fathom how people have not given this clinic 5 stars. Not only were they available for my pet emergency, they took him in ASAP. They were so compassionate, they had empathy and above all gave my pet the BEST care . Dr. Ursitti and staff were amazing . I recommend them to everyone . I wish she could be my pets full time vet. Ps. The tech was one of the nicest and most knowledgeable techs I've ever been around .

Took my cat here last night after throwing up and becoming unresponsive. They told me she would most likely not make it and offered to hold her overnight or a day or two in an oxygen cage untill she was doing better for 1600 dollars and still probably wouldn't make it. I requested to bring her home and attempt helping her breathing myself with steam treatment in the bathroom and such or at least not let her pass away in a vets office by herself as you can't go in due to covid. The doctor told me I would watch her suffocate and there would be nothing I could do about it if I took her home. After 12 hours at home in my care she is doing so much better it is night and day. I will be bringing her to her normal vet tomorrow as today is labor day and he is closed but she is doing so much better walking around drinking eating a little, laying on my lap and using the liter box on her own. I am very very happy I didn't follow their actual advice of putting her down. The reason I am really giving 1 stars is the way the doctor tried to make me feel like I would be a bad person to take her home and hope for the best if I didn't pay 1600 or put her down and now she is doing so much better without doing either of those things. I don't believe he meant this maliciously but still it bothers me he made it seem my only option was to pay $1600 while he didn't sound convinced it would help when she apparently didn't even need that.

I see a lot of negative comments but after a horrible experience with the emergency hospital in Newton NJ I chose to drive 26 miles to this overnight vet.My dog had a bleeding issue. To top it off he is aggressive outside my home. Even though they bleeding stopped and he wouldn't let the vet near him, The vet was very helpful and even gave me guidance incase the wound opened up again. They were upfront and honest even about cost. Hopefully I will never need an emergency visit again but with the overnight options I have available to me I would definitely try them again.

I called this vet on Tuesday 9/1 around 11:00 pm my pregnant cat was acting strange not at all like my cats had in the past and also had some bloody discharge and was acting in pain. The woman who answered the phones told me that my cat would know what to do and that her behavior didn’t sound odd and that I should just keep an eye on her. I again said her strange behavior and that I had cat’s have kittens before and this was not the same the woman still said that cats know what to do. The next morning I woke up to know change in my cat took her to a regular vet and she died within an hour of arriving. She had dead kittens and her uterus had ruptured. Had this emergency vet actually listened to what I was telling them my cat would prob still be here and wouldn’t have suffered all night. My family is devastated we lost our pet and her babies she was only 3! I wish I had contacted a different vet do yourself a favor and find another!

Steer clear - We went there with a 13 y/o 12lb dog presenting with a softball sized ruptured tumor and were sent home to research "low cost surgical options" to avoid their suggested approach to have a specialist operate for an estimated 5k. Doctor recommended that it was not appropriate for us to consider euthanasia despite my request to proceed and returned the dog to us in a towel without cleaning or dressing the wound. She told us to let the dog rest on a tile floor at home for easy clean up while we looked for someone to operate. We followed up at a local animalhospital asking for X-rays and bloodwork and an opinion on possibly operating. They compassionately confirmed what we had known which was that the prognosis was grim. Her tumor had grown from the size of a pea in March and was assumed to be aggressively malignant. Given her quality of life and the likelihood that she would not live much longer even with heroic efforts, they did not see it necessary to do any testing and agreed that euthanasia was the most humane approach. Under the circumstances, we called OCAES to complain and request a refund. They jerked us around and made excuse after excuse for their unacceptable service and grossly negligent advice. All with no genuine concern to resolve the situation. The charge is now under dispute with my credit card company. My advice is to avoid this place at all costs.

i visted ocaes on the night of tuesday june 1st, 2020. due to covid, all of the dog groomers were closed and my bailey was in desperate need of grooming. so i decided that i would attempt to cut her hair myself. i started with clippers but her hair was too long so i used a scissor to cut it down first. while cutting the hair on her back legs i accidentally cut her leaving a two inch opening. i called ocaes and was told i could bring her in. due to covid we were not allowed inside. when we got there i called and stephanie bought out paperwork for me to fill out and took my payment and bailey inside. after about fifteen minutes dr. john called me and i explained to him what happened and he told me what needed to be done. shortly after, stephanie called with the price of $804. although i was not happy about paying $804, i agreed. an hour or so later stephanie bought bailey out to me. not only was she stitched up, dr. john gave her a full hair cut and clipped her nails. i was so thankful it bought me to tears. the friendliness and care and concern that was given to us was more than worth it. if ever an emergency arises, i won't hesitate on going back.
