Dr. Jonathan May has been treating my cat for a urinary track infection. Dr. May is an outstanding doctor, he’s very compassionate, not only does he care about animals but he also cares about his clients, he goes above and beyond explaining what treatment needs to be done and explains everything in simple terms so that you don’t have to be a doctor to understand. I would highly recommend Dr. May for anyone that needs vet care.

I’ve had very positive experiences at Merrick Veterinary Group. They have cared for my two cats for over 12 years. When my one cat got very ill, they handled the situation with compassion and honesty. I would highly recommend!

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!!! Don't bring your animals here or board them here unless you want them to come home in worse condition then you left them in. They are kept in small metal cages ( three sides are metal walls) and they are in the cages most of the day. The animals are left alone in the cages about 15 hours overnight . Horrible!! The place looks the same as it did in the 1990s when I brought my dog there! It needs a serious update!! They are overpriced for all services! Its definitely worth spending a little more money on an actual boarding facility then to leave your dog at a place that only cares about getting your money and not taking care of your animals for extended periods of time. When my friend picked up her dog they told her he was wonderful and ate fine - but he wasn't acting fine after being there !

Fired me right before the holidays. Tried to set me up like I didn’t show up but I have all the texts saved. Don’t trust these people. After being behind the scenes I would NEVER bring my pet there. The techs are NOT certified. Only the doctors are. They lie and lie and talk behind all the clients backs, and that goes for the “older” people who work there. One more thing. Don’t board your pet here. Unless you want it to be cold in the dark and alone for most of the stay. Sorry someone had to expose this place….

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Villa when I brought my newly diagnosed diabetic cat in. After having had a terrible experience with an Animal Hospital in Wantagh, I went to Merrick Vet Group as a last resort. Dr Villa saved my cat's life by addressing my concerns and fears with patience and guidance which empowered me to be able to administer the insulin he needs. The receptionist and the vet tech were also both very sweet and caring. I highly recommend this practice.

The doctors here love spending your money!! They took my dog in the back to "check him out" for a cough/runny nose. He did multiple blood tests and x-rays- all without asking me . They then tell me I have a $700 bill that must be paid immediately. When I explained that I was not expecting that much- again, he had a runny nose, they gave me an attitude.

They saw my guinea pig for skin irritation and he’s already doing better one day later. Dr was so polite and kind. Very good bedside manner. He was very knowledgeable and gave me concise directions with a lot of useful information. The receptionist was so polite, too. You can tell these people really love animals and love their jobs.

A. Villa was rude and dismissive when trying to ask questions and forced me to reschedule as if she was in a rush to get to the next dog.My dog is nervous when going to the vet and the fact I could not go in definitely made him more nervous. I was called about two minutes after he went in and forced to reschedule as she stated she could not handle his behavior.I understand that its busy, but I went to a different vet the same day and they had no issues, he was able to receive the vaccination in 5 minutes.Just want to give others this information when looking for a vet around this area.
