As New Penn, they were always one bad month away from disaster. The disaster finally happened in February 2017. The cost cutting was vicous, but it wasn't enough to save the company.
Soon after they changed names, closed branches and laid off all of their employees. They went from bad to worse in terms of service. But apparantly they can sell the mortgages (most Lenders do) well enough to stay afloat.
Would I do business with them? There's no reason to. No Mortgage Bank these days have anything different in terms of loan programs from anyone else. it comes down to service, service, service!
You'll get that from a local bank where you know the staff who can go to bat for you. Don't bother with thses folks.

Trying to payoff the mortgage with the insurance Money that loss draft has. They have my money!!! I still waiting over 3 months NOW. Paying interest and fees. Calling almost 3 to 4 times a week waiting for 3 to 4 hrs every call. Never gets anything resolved. Always a different story with them. We have to wait for management, management, management. They never call or email back either.
I don't recommend this to no one. Is so stressful.

DO NOT GET A MORTGATE THROUGH THEM IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. I would give them zero stars if I could.
They have held my mortgage since late 2017. Every year I have a problem with them properly updating my insurance information and have to send to them multiple times. This year they have charged my escrow account for lender placed coverage I did not need. I have requested this be corrected multiple times, with no success yet.
In addition, their customer service is HORRIBLE. I am selling my co-op apartment and NO ONE at their customer service line could tell me how I could request my original stock certificate for closing. I spent two weeks talking to various people, including supervisors, who had no clue what I was talking about. After my 4th attempt I was finally connected to the right department who told me it can take 6 to 8 weeks to obtain the original documents and they cannot provide an ETA for when they will arrive. So we cannot schedule closing because this company is full of incompetent employees. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!

The absolute worst company ever. I've received three notices from them in the last year re: my flood insurance policy. I've provided them countless documents yet I keep receive requests from them threatening to cancel my mortgage. It's also impossible to get anyone on the phone. Avoid them at all costs.

Weeks of correspondence issues and misdirection prompted us to pursue other refinance options. The lack of communication and correspondence for our refinance affirms all of the negative reviews that they have. Do not refinance through Newrez; do not do any business with Newrez unless you're strictly required to do so (if they bought your mortgage etc...)
Do not do business with this company!

Terrible! I have automatic monthly payments scheduled through my bank. Every last day of the month. When NewRez changed their payment address I missed an email (October). Also never scrutinized the payment coupons to see a new address because why would I!? For the next seven months I guess the payments were getting forwarded because there was no issue. Then my July payment never received. Got email end of July and resent (still to wrong address). Then my August payment never received. I called but still no one said hey what address are you sending to? So I paid July and August right there over the phone. When in September this appeared on my credit report I again called and was informed of address change and instructed to write a letter with proof of sending payments. I sent proof from my bank that payments were sent on time (to their old address), however they refused to remove this late payment from my credit reports! WHY?? I’m buying another house now and guess who I will not be using for the mortgage?

Tons of miscommunication and changes throughout the real estate purchasing process. Also miscommunication between them and the preferred title services of Avenue 365. Wouldn’t recommend.

Stay away from this bank the underwriters are horrible don't care abt the customer they delay the closing by 3 months horrible horrible state away.

Can I give less than one star? Terrible company. Terrible service. Bought my mortgage from another bank. They have made mistakes on my account. Their customer service is terrible. Stay away! I hope they sell my mortgage to a better lender. Really really bad!

By far the WORST mortgage company I’ve ever dealt with. Had my loan taken over by newrez last year from Mr Cooper. I’ve owned my home for 25 years, never, not once was I late or missed a payment. Since this horrible company took over, I’ve been late almost every month, even received a letter stating I was at risk for foreclosure. Every month I speak to an inept representative who eventually fixes everything, due to them screwing things up. In the meantime my credit score has dropped almost 60pts, and have accumulated multiple late charges which they say they cannot return, even though it’s their fault. Last month spoke to supervisor who noticed we actually had a month and half extra in payments in our account. Guess what I just received for this month, we are two payments behind. If my loan wasn’t close to the end I would refinance just to get away from these idiots.

Horrible customer service, I can't access loan information online. Customer service is of no help telling me try an log in later. They bought my loan from another lender and it's been nothing but a headache ever since.

Absolutely the worst, incompetent individuals ever! Terrible service, left me with out homeowners insurance due to their inability to write a check correctly. After they screw up, they tell him it’s your problem you have to fix it. Unbelievable!

This is the most horrible company EVER! I’ve had a mortgage for 20 years and NEVER had a problem. These clowns take over my mortgage in August 2023 and tell me my first payment is due in October. I question why they don’t need a September payment and they tell me they already got it from my old mortgage company (Mr Cooper). Three months later they send me a letter saying I’m a month behind in my mortgage and I owe them another payment to catch up. Turns out they made a mistake and realized Mr Copper didn’t give them a September payment, as if I have a few thousand dollars sitting around to double pay my mortgage in a month. Then they make it out as if I’m having a “hardship” and need to be put on a payment plan to help me catch up but my credit rating is going to suffer due to falling behind! I told them the only hardship I have is having them as a mortgage company. So I had to deplete much of my bank account to make up for THEIR incompetence. They don’t care, they constantly give you misinformation and they are nasty. I mean it when I say the government should go after them because they are ruining people’s financial lives. Horrible, horrible company. I only pray that they sell my mortgage to a real company someday.

If my interest rate wasn’t so good I would ditch this company asap! Three times you messed up my escrow account, changed my payment amount without notice and then charged me a late fee which now you say you won’t waive and it’s your fault. My wire direct deposit made on the first of the month still not showing as pd as of the fifth???? Seriously? Please get it together!
