My dogs swallowed a chicken bone last week and needed help immediately. Assisi took him in as quickly as possibly to get him the help he needed. There were some complications in his xrays, and I was able to get him into an ultrasound the next day. So thankful for you all!!

My dog Muffin was a patient of Assisi Hospital and was scheduled to be cremated today July 7th after suffering for days and after having 11 seizures the office contacted me 1 hour before her scheduled procedure to tell us they will no longer be able to perform her euthanization. After spending all these hours watching our family member suffer this was what they told me. The staff was extremely insensitive to my family needs and to have her suffer waiting is inhumane. We've supported this vet for many years and whoever is responsible for scheduling and counting inventory should be repremanded.
I do not recommend this vet and I am disappointed in their care and concern for my pet in her last day.

This is the best Vet office i have ever dealt with.My dog Gizmo had some medical issues and the amazing care provided by Dr Guzman who has known my now 16 year old pooch since he was 2 years old was simply beyond compare.Dr Lopez and Dr Hyacinthe who also helped to care for my dog were top notch!The kennel staff also wonderful and caring.The receptionists are compassionate ,caring and Patient .My dog is coming home today .Thank you all and especially Dr Guzman who patiently and kindly walked us through the process.Every one of the vets who treated Gizmo took the time to talk to us and explain everything .Its literally a family there.I recommend this place without hesitation !Without reservation .

I just had the heartbreaking task of having my best little buddy get his well deserved eternal rest. Dr. Lopez was the kind, compassionate human being who soothed my soul in making this decision and gave my beloved 17+ yr old little doggie a gentle dignified end to his distress. Dr. Lopez explained the x-rays & bloodwork that could be done (at a substantial cost) but was gentle in letting us know that for a dog of this age & degree of heart issues this won't be a real fix. In fact, the stress of it all could prove too much on him. A lesser man would have put potential dollars compassion for animals & pushed a pet owner desperate to take her "baby" home towards that unnecessary route. I am so thankful a friend recommended Assisi to me last year when my little guy was ill. She was also the owner of 2 elderly dogs & couldn't speak highly enough about their care at Assisi. Last year we saw a female Dr., whose name escapes me & we were pleased with her thoroughness & care. Today though was the true test in kindness & professionalism. We were even given a beautiful remembrance of our sweet little boy in the form of a plaster imprint of his paws w a beautiful poem & a vial containing a bit of his fur. I have used other vets & this is beyond a doubt the best I have experienced. Do yourself & your pet a favor & visit Dr. Lopez at Assisi.

TECHNICIANS not CLINICIANS. Rely too heavily on costly diagnostics exams and not a physical exam. Why? It pays. Useless Xray ($600!!!) to r/o an obstruction in a dog with a totally benign abdomen, no pain and having normal, solid bowel movements; blood test to r/o pancreatitis? Again, benign and non-painful abdomen. $1400+ dollars later - diagnosed with enteritis. Pathetic.

Want to publicly thank Dr. Guzman and the staff at Assisi Veterinary Hospital for their over the top care and concern they took with our Irish Setter Ryder.Ryder swallowed a human heart med that accidentally fell on the floor. We brought him to Assisi and action was taken immediately.Dr. Guzman went over and above for our boy!We are very lucky to have such a dedicated group of vets, techs and admin staff right here in Malverne.Thank you again Assisi.

My dog was very sick and these doctors let my dog almost suffer to death. I brought my girl in for help she had a tumor, cyst, lymph nodes but was being treated for an infection. None of their test were accurate. They were not aggressive in finding the source and time was not on our side. We did test after test that came back negative and a bunch of blood test and fluids seemed to be their treatment. When she desperately needed a xray and ultrasound they let 5 days go by on this treatment then gave her back to me sicker then before with medication that had nothing too do with her sickness. I called every day to update them. I was very detailed because I felt this was not right at all, not once did they say rush her in, treatment is not taking. They chucked it up too side effects, I couldnt take it anymore and brought her in. At this point they were appalled and realized quickly the medication and treatment was not working. I asked why is this happening they said shes not hospitalized, on fluids and not taking her meds. So, they truly were confident in their diagnosis and treatment. I suggested she needs a 24 hour care vet they said again it will be twice the cost but insured they were capable. I then took her straight to manhattan where they did the xray and ultrasound they were very aggressive in caring for her and getting to the bottom of my dogs illness. They said it was a shame the last hospital did not see the urgency for the xray and ultrasound that I approved and then later found out they were not giving me results based off of those test. I am still very shocked as too why those tests weren't done and how they were giving me test results. Why was she there for 5 days and these test were not done. In just hours when I went to Manhattan they got the right answers, they wasted no time doing the necessary test. The moment I brought her in Assisi Vet should of done all the test necessary then come up with a treatment plan. If your pet is sick, things can progress very fast, faster than I could of processed. I brought her in tail wagging responsive, healthy weight and with in two weeks a huge decline. If Assisi Vet took the health of my pet serious and was honest with their capability of taking care of a pet my dog would of not suffered the way she did. They were convinced she had leptospirosis which was a misdiagnosis that took away time that she needed to get to the source. Real professional doctors waste no time and is very honest with the owners about their pets condition and options. This place will watch your dog suffer and not give you a realistic plan but would rather treat your dog for something they dont even have. If you pet needs to be hospitalized thats your sign to run and take your pet to a reputable 24 hour facility. Assisi Vet staff is very kind and makes you feel comfortable but when you pet is dying and needs hospitalization you need experienced capable professionals, who will communicate the severity of the situation not wait until your pet is almost dead && then try to help her and suggest a more equipped facility. I experienced a total traumatic nightmare at this hospital and now I will have to live with the regret of coming to this hospital.That is not true. We never denied any test that was recommended. We literally took her to NYC to do those test. We ran all recommended test given too us. I specifically spoke to the ultrasound doctor the day the lab lepto came back negative and said to him I am pulling her out right now, he assured me he was the ultrasound doctor and will do the ultrasound for her. When doctor Lopez checked her charts to see if those test were done he said they weren't and I took her right away to do those test. Your facility also discharged her with a heavier breathing than when she came home with no explanation and 0 concern on your behalf

Place was very poor in accessing the health of my dog.For the people that decide to give this place a try - remember look at their reviews. We were desperate in getting our dog somewhere to be checked out, because she was showing very concerning symptoms. We called everywhere but they had no appointments available, this place had same day appointments. Please don't make that mistake.In reply to your comment.... that is a lie.
