extremely rude, completely unwilling to help. I understand every location has there own way of doing things... However most places are more than willing to help, not Mahopac.., I had a trip to go on and package was late.. I asked if they could give to me( I could literally see it through the window) they completely refused, saying it needed to be scanned in.. I get it I really do but I can literally see my package. I could tell soon as I got to the counter they were not going to help me do anything, and if it wasn't for their attitude, I wouldn't even be writing this.

It's just sad reading all the reviews I've been to this location on a few occasions they're very understaffed but the overall the people seem very nice and helpful, but not delivering packages and important mail and things like that to the correct address and making excuses for it. That's an excusable, got to get it together people. It's also a younger generation they don't want to work they want everything for free and they all have attitudes and they all feel entitled up here. Sad, need to hire, competent mature people don't know what they're doing.

Terrible service - non chalant I don't care attitude . Went there for a passport renewal for our child . Arranged 2 work schedules and waited a month for this specific date to get there and be told they were cancelled and we received an Email. Which we did not. Told us to go back online and make another appointment. As we were waiting to be told this - the man was "helping "someone else and was not giving direct answers- said I don't know a bunch of times and was not apologetic or helpful. Now I know why there is so many bad reviews -

Wouldn't even give one star if I didn't have to. I had a 3:00 apt to get a passport for my baby which I needed photo services for. I called ahead of time and spoke with an employee to confirm that they could take the photo of a seven week old (she can't hold her head up) they told me yes and to get there 15 min early. I arrived with my husband and baby at 2:45 and the woman who was handling the passports was running behind. These things happen so we waited. At 3:30 she comes out and starts grabbing our documents, and I mean literally grabbing them out of our hands. She was snapping at us to "hurry up" and saying "she's busy" and "she has other people waiting." Her attitude alone was bad enough but then she disappeared into the back with our documents and IDs for an hour. When she finally reappeared and it came time to take the photo she told me to grab a cardboard shipping box and put in on the floor where everyone was lined up. She then put white folders on top of it and told me to put my newborn on the ground so she could take the photos. She was so unprofessional, so unaccommodating, and so nasty. We left without getting done what we came for. In total the unfinished process took two hours.

In what other business can you get away with not opening on time? If you advertise you open at 8 am (which is great for some of us who start work at 8:30/9:00) then open at 8:00. Not 8:10, 8:15 or even the postmaster himself opened the doors at 8:35!! This is not an isolated issue ALL. THE. TIME. The only exception to the rule is when the young man is opening - he is always pleasant on and on time. The blond woman or the postmaster horrible. They blame it on the truck being late or some excuse if they give one. I bet their lunch hours don't get skipped or are late starting... horrible.

I've been a long time customer here. Over the years, there have been several very very nice employees who are most helpful, and respectful. However, the was a change in Postmaster general in recent years.Much to my chagrin, there have been NUMEROUS TIMES THAT I myself, (n I've heard from others), that he is significantly rude to some of his customers. That should not be the case, but it's best just to ignore unpleasant people n there actions. (as long as they're not harmful).

Worst Post Office ever. Greedy and Rude staff. I was told I had to buy a $4 roll of tape from them to tape a small envelope closed, (one small strip of tape needed for the envelope), or I could "go home and tape it", or "go over to Rite Aid to buy tape." Greedy and Rude. Never again will I go there.

I have no words. The clerk at the front desk is such a disrespectful human being. Lost me as a customer for sure.

This review is for the service in general, not the people who work at the counter. I've always thought it silly to write reviews about government offices but I will make an exception for this clown show. This post office is THE worst I have ever experienced. I have lived in 3rd world countries before and gotten better service. Sometimes they will not deliver the mail for days. How do i know this? I leave the flag up on my mailbox and the mail never gets picked up. If you are expecting a package on the days they decide not to deliver, your tracking will say "Invalid address" "Inaccessible" or something to that effect. Sometimes it will be delivered eventually, often you will have to go to the office itself and have the staff scrounge around the back and keep your fingers crossed that they find it. I now have to have things delivered to work or a PO Box since this sheet show of a circus can't even do their jobs properly.

everything below is still true. but now when they don't wanna deliver your items they mark them as "incomplete address" which i find funny. i get my packages the next day and the address is fine. they just mark the packages whatever when they don't have time/don't want to deliver them after 5pm

I cant tell if they are lazy or just greedy... I needed to mail a letter to Planet Fitness during the pandemic. I drove to the gym, and the only type of drop box I saw was one of those communal ones that are all locked. I didnt have a stamp since I was just going to slip it into their mailbox, but then I saw the post office. I thought to myself "maybe they will be decent human beings, and just walk LITERALLY RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING and put it in". Nope. Returned due to nonpostage. Are you peole really that d baggy? Why the **** should I postage for a letter thats destination is right door??? You literally wasted more time and money by bringing it all they way back to my house in driver wages and fuel costs, not to mention putting them more at risk of getting the virus... I dont know, I must just be stupid I guess...
