I am completely biased as I live in Westchester. I am passionate about collecting art, yet live in a tiny home(not those teeny homes) and have filled every inch of my walls, window sills and shelving with local Hudson Valley artists.

Wonderful place !!!! Creativity RULES ! If you are looking for a cozy studio to learn or enhance your skills Putnam Arts Center is just the place. It has wonderful, happy teachers in drawing, anime, painting and ceramics (both wheel throwing and hand building). There is also an active art gallery with different and fascinating art shows, openings, and talks all year round. It truly is a hidden gem.

I have been taking classes at the Putnam Arts council for over a year now and have learned many techniques that has greatly improved my artwork. I was a true beginner and now feel much more confident and have taken drawing classes using charcoal, graphite, and pastels. I really enjoyed the painting class and learned a lot more about drawing and painting abstract, landscapes, and portraits. Learning all of these techniques from Jim Sparks, an accomplished artist and college level teacher has been an invaluable adventure. He works with all levels, classes are creatively interesting and very entertaining. His constructive criticism is spot on and completely helpful and provides much needed insight. Never did I feel uncomfortable, intimidated, or inferior to pick up a pencil during any of these classes. I would highly recommend this class if you have any interest in art and drawing. Even if you think you can't draw, guess again, Jim's classes will help develop you into a better artist and definitely inspire you to improve. So sign up!

I take the printmaking and watercolor classes and the teachers Quincy and Lynn are great. Printmaking is exploring a new world and having a press is a privilege. We are experiencing new elements of art and its great. I love my watercolor class, I've painted before but Lynn is always showing us different techniques and color combinations. We love her.

Always something new to see. The opening art receptions are lively and interesting. Great place for an artist to learn and keep re-newing that connection to art. Enjoy the classes. Sally Jarvis--Artist
