I live in the area and own a 2008 BMW 5 Series. As one could imagine, that requires an auto shop on speed dial. While the car is mechanically sound, there are constantly small things that need to be addressed (headlight out, drain clogged, wire needs replacing, brake discs, alignment, inspection, etc.).Anthony and his team have been there to handle all the small things as well as a few more major repairs like a valve cover replacement, and everything else that comes with an aging BMW. It's been almost half a decade that ZA & D. have been working with me to maintain this vehicle and I've always found them honest, competent, and transparent.I've lived in NYC over 16 years (coincidentally, about the same age as the car) and I've only felt compelled to write a review for one or two other businesses that have stood out to me as exceptional. These guys are it.

They offer good old fashioned service. Honest and fair. I trust them and although I no longer work in the area I come back when I have car troubles. Love them!

Anthony and his team did a great job on my 89 Ford F250 bricknose pickup truck. OBD1 gen and very temperamental electronics, weird idle systems etc. they were able to resolve all my idle issues, do the annoying and hard work with patience and update me whenever I called or checked upon. Prices were very fare and outcome of the work is very reliable. Not too many people left to work on 80s cars/ trucks. Support these businesses…

The most honest mechanics I have ever dealt with. We’ve been going to them for years — for service and body work.

The most honest gents in the business. Been here twice, once for an oil change and once for some body work/brake stuff. Both times they were friendly, straight forward and helpful. For as long as I live in Astoria, I will be using Zad.

I came here today for a vacuum pump alignment. It was a little costly for me but Anthony was kind. The overall vibe I haven’t decided yet since this was my first time at the shop. So far so good now, but the car barely made it home. The battery died out on me after it left the shop, roughly 15 minutes and the car died. Hopefully since the codes were cleared and reset, hopefully that’s all it needed. I guess I’ll update this review if something happens.**update 10/28So after my car battery died on me after they installed a vacuum pump (last mechanic clearly left the job unfinished), the mounts needed replacing. I’m really not sure how and why every mechanic I go to never just fixed the issue but also has other things spring up. The car is older (2007) so it makes some sense. Can a woman that owns her own car go into any mechanic shop in NYC and get hit with FAIR prices? I’m honestly not sure. In my experience most mechanics have been incredibly crooked and when they see a woman, worse. This shop changed the mounts which were originally supposed to be $400-500. Yes, that’s already steep… and because they got the “the electrical mounts” turn out to be over $700. Makes sense for it to be slightly higher in price but $300 extra. I honestly am scrambling to put next months rent in this pandemic. So far the end result is that the car works the same way it did before the first mechanic changed the vacuum pump so I am satisfied with the fact that my car is back to normal. I am not so happy with the dead battery that died out on me twice after taking it here, or the bump in price. Usually, price is talked about and clearly given before a job. A baseline price for a part that it wasn't at the end rendered pretty useless. At the end of the day, would I come back here? Yes. Although communication between shop and user lacked (had to do multiple call-ins just to see if the car was done), the car seems to be back up and running. I want to leave honest and helpful feedback. I hope this does. It’s a decent shop in my opinion. I’m not sure how the car will be…until the next update.

I drive a Mercedes Benz S550 I had car issues and it would not start..I googled the nearest repair shop ZAD came up..I called looking for a tow company Anthony assisted..Once the fair price was set. I told other mechanic they said if he does it I will be taking my car to him.Anthony call me to pick my car up.If you know Mercedes-Benz it has a bunch of computers.Anthony decided to clear them while he serviced the car. While checking my fluids he noticed the windshield fluid tank hose was leaking and he fixed that as well. When I came to pick up the car he said drive it for a week or two and come back and I will let you know what errors you have. That's a Xmas present and if you have a Benz this is the place to go in NYC!I am very appreciative of his family business work ethics.I read ZAD's reviews some people have different experiences with different people but I always say do we look at our own actions to see if we are the reason we got the reaction we got.......I am a customer for life.I strongly urge you give this company a try.
