I’ve been a solid DR shopper for years but coming to this Duane Reade is an exercise in futility. Nice staff but severely understaffed and overextended. Bare shelves and whatever is there is under lock and key. But because they’re so understaffed it takes time for the staff member to open up the case. Better bet is to go to the CVS a couple blocks down.

The worst store ever!1 cashier no matter how many customers waiting to pay.The cashiers are not the sharpest tools, actually the slowest ever seen!Suggestion: close shop and allow people that want to work.

Prescriptions filled fast and they have a great selection of household items. I don’t buy food here so cannot confirm the other reviews of expired food. It’s a great spot if you only need a handful of items.

Had a vaccine appointment here despite the bad reviews. Sure enough, morning of -- after letting my job know I'd be stepping out, they called to cancel my appointment because "they don't know when the pharmacist will be in and is late." They then suggested to reschedule from 10:30-12 so I suggested 11:30. Then, they said actually we can't then how about the afternoon.This place just needs to get it together.

Nice selection but a lot of trickery with their pricing making shopping a headache, also inaccurate price tags. Milk is often rotten. Customer service could be better.

I cannot say enough good things about this store and their staff. They always solve any problems I may have in getting my medication's. They are always pleasant, efficient, and ready to go above and beyond. I have had to transfer prescriptions to other Duane Reade, or Walgreens and it always gets screwed up. But this one always fixes it. Thank you, Duane Reade, Long Island city!

Bought a 2 pack of Duracell 9V batteries for $19 and change. Got home and realized the same exact thing was on Amazon for half the price. Went back to the store 15 minutes later to return the batteries. Same cashier that sold me the batteries was there but refused to refund me because I didn't have a receipt. She acknowledged that she remembered selling me the batteries 15 minutes before, but had to call her manager. The manager asked for my ID and refused to refund the money because I didn't have a receipt. Instead she issued store credit. Luckily there is a CVS 2 blocks away so I will be taking my business there.

Honestly, I think the people who work here purposely make your experience miserable.I was browsing body soaps for a bit, and one of the employees decided to stand really close next to me and front the items directly above me. Really? Out of the entire store that is constantly a mess they had to organize right over me? So I stood up and waited a few mins for him to finish. It really felt like he got in my way on purpose. He could care less that he was plowing me over.Then when I’m checking out, and had a few heavy items, I suggest to the cashier, who immediately had a terrible attitude, to use two bags. He proceeds to stuff the entire order in one bag and throw my receipt at me. So I ask for a second one and he looks at me like I have a dragon head. He finally gives me one and gives me a dirty look.Again, not asking a lot but gosh dang have some self respect and awareness. Your prices aren’t even that good for us to be treated like this. You know the people around this neighborhood are decent people so there’s no need to act miserable all the time and be rude to your customers.Shape up or ship out.

Someone’s review below said that they think that the “people who work here purposely make your experience miserable” and I have to agree. So much sass and disrespect, it’s really not necessary especially considering they’re already not very good at their job. Unfortunately, not a lot of alternative options in the area so they can, sadly, continue treating people like this. It’s a shame because people who are requiring prescriptions are generally already having a tough time with their health, so getting a terrible attitude from pharmacy staff is really just unwarranted. They really don’t have to be so rude. Do better.
