Pet owners BEWARE, Dr. Harrington does not know what she is doing. She Harrington has excellent bedside manner and showed me a lot of kindness in our time working with her but her poor clinical skills are dangerous to animals in her care.
My furbaby, Louie, had bloodwork done in March 2022 which indicated early stage kidney disease but the early diagnosis was not communicated to me as such until April 2023, when we did blood work again and his numbers had slightly increased. There were no recommendations for kidney diet, additional fluids, water fountain (typical treatment for early stage kidney disease that would be suggested by most vets). Instead, Dr. Harrington suggested that I ween Louie off of his steroid, a medication he had been doing well on for 3 years. So I listened.
Louie showed symptoms of getting sick - flaky fur (Dr. Harrington said this was allergies), stinky breath, increased water intake (Dr. Harrington said this was Cushing's disease caused by steroids), decrease in energy (Dr. Harrington said this was due to old age). Time and again my concerns were either dismissed or explained to me as something contributable to old age, minor ailments, or steroid side effects. Looking back, Louie was presenting with OBVIOUS and TYPICAL signs of worsening kidney disease, which by the way is the most common disease amongst cats. As I watched my baby get sicker the phone calls with Dr. Harrington increased and she continued to reassure me that getting him off steroids would be the best treatment. Multiple vets have since told me that they would NEVER take a senior cat off of a medication they've been maintained on for years. But Dr. Harrington did. And eventually, Louie crashed. All of a sudden he wouldn't eat and couldn't walk.
Dr. Harrington was useless and confused by this sudden decline so she recommended we see a neurologist. Louie and I went to AMC and the neurologist found nothing. So after that $350 visit and and 2 weeks of Louie suffering terribly, I was told by the neurologist to get a blood panel, something she was surprised was not immediately recommended by Dr. Harrington. We received the results and Louie's kidney disease had progressed to END STAGE! He went from early stage to end stage all in a matter of 6 months.
The bloodwork revealed just how incompetent Dr. Harrington was so we immediately found another vet. Under a new vet's care, Louie went back on his regular dose of steroids and received kidney disease treatment (fluids, vitamins, diet change etc.) things became stable and we were lucky enough to enjoy one more year together.
I can't help but wonder how much more time Louie and I would have had together if he had been initially treated by a capable vet. Please, for the sake of your pet's health and your own heartache, do not allow your furbaby to be treated by Dr. Harrington. She should not be practicing medicine.

Doctor Harrington is fantastic! Professional, responsive, courteous, and direct.
First met her in 2023 for a second opinion on my older dog's knee a few weeks after moving to the neighborhood. She made time to see my dog same day and gave excellent advice and referrals to a fantastic vet surgery practice in Brooklyn. I immediately started coming to CityVet first for everything.
In early 2024 she made a quick second diagnosis that another vet at her practice had missed, then performed the needed minor surgery on my dog herself with excellent results that immediately cleared up the issue.
Front desk is generally very responsive in person and over email, most recently going out of their way to follow up multiple times when PetSmart kept botching my flea/tick approval and helped me switch to Chewy.
Highly recommend this Vet!

These folks are fantastic. I came in with a dog that had been attacked in Murray Park and had a bad bite wound. They immediately took charge and treated the wound. Dr Harrington was wonderful; empathetic, calm and professional (as were the staff in general.) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Don’t waste your time with the urgent care franchise a few blocks away with their predictably corporate approach.

Brought my dog for an emergency right before Covid. The attention was so pleasing that I wished I had continued with them but they closed when the city closed back in 2020. I came back to the neighborhood and of course I wanted my two dogs to be under the care of this people. Needless to say there was nothing but a commercial paperwork that lasted forever. With an assistant giving attitude really lacking the minimum customer service etiquete.. He presented a bill much bigger than what it was discussed over the phone. And he had not even checked the dogs or go through their records. This is a total waste of time. I left the place and will be in the look of a new vet. The people we hire to manage our business make a great impact in the perception of it. I went from amazed by its service to amazed by its lack of it.

Evil facility. These doctors performed a full extraction, removing all the teeth from a healthy dog, just to make some extra money. Zero consent. No chance to gather a second opinion. A routine cleaning has turned into a life altering nightmare for this pup. Adelaide Harrington needs to lose her medical license. She is not a doctor. She is a sadist.

Just heard about them claiming they would only pull 1-2 teeth but removed ALL the teeth from a dog without contacting the owner. This is ridiculous. You guys should be ashamed of yourself. How do you operate on a dog WITHOUT contacting the owner?

DO NOT bring your pet here! What they've done to my dog is unforgivable and downright torture. I brought my 5 and a half year old dachshund in for a physical. While she was healthy overall the Dr noted that she had bad gums, which is a known trait among dachshunds. She advised bringing her back when she gets her booster for a deep cleaning. They'll put her under anesthesia and there might be a possibility of needing to pull a tooth or two, she advised it could cost between $950-$1100. I brought my baby in a month later at 8am. She had no food or water after midnight. The desk clerk had me fill out a form noting if I wanted to be notified if there were any changes to treatment. I made the mistake of trusting them and said "it's okay, I trust you". They called me at 3:30 and said she was recovering well and I can come get her. I got there at 4 and the Vet Tech started detailing all of the antibiotics and painkillers I'd be needing to give my girl over the next week at different times and ear medicine too. Confused, as this seemed a bit extreme, I asked how the cleaning went. That's when he casually tells me, "oh it was a full extraction." What? I asked again. "We pulled all her teeth." ALL 36 OF HER TEETH! And pardon my French but that's a little different than "a tooth or two", like wildly different so F the form and get my consent! 1. I have the right to a second opinion. 2. How do you know I have the capacity right now to adhere to the after care? 3. How do you expect me to wildly change her diet overnight? 4. What type of monster thinks they can make that decision without consent?! You know who, Dr Adelaide "Frankenstein" Harrington, that's who. Also, the vet is aware of our situation and what my baby girl has been through recently. Just six months ago we lost her other dad and my husband. We are still grieving and adjusting. We are alone. This vet was aware and still made the decision to disfigure and permanently alter my dogs life, when she's still adjusting to the trauma of losing her human. I am still so livid. After paying the now $3,500 bill, they brought me my girl, blood caked all over her snout. Oh but they gave me gauze to clean her up once I got her home. The next two weeks were harrowing, spending all day trying to give her her meds as she yelps from the pain and trying to understand what has happened to her. After spending one very late night in the animal hospital (she developed an ulcer on her lip that I was not advised to look out for) she finally got appropriate painkillers from a Dr who seemed like someone who actually cares about the animals she's treating. Instead of a doctor who thinks completely changing a dogs life of her own volition for a payday is appropriate. Long story and if you're still reading I hope I can save your loved little critters from being subjected to the cruelty and greed of City Vet. And yes, I'll be filing a complaint with the state.

I don't know what happened to this place, but I miss the old ownership in the groomers. I tried speaking with corporate about my experience but was blocked. I was also told that my review from many years ago no longer mattered. I've been coming to this place for years, even during COVID when every business was suffering, and was essentially told that customer loyalty doesn't matter. This all happened because I called to let them know that I would be 18 minutes late instead of 15 minutes late, and they then tried to cancel my appointment.
I know people are busy and I do try to respect everyone's time. That said, sometimes things happen and I really needed my dog groomed. I was really upset by how I was treated. We're all dealing with things in life. Let's be human and mindful of that. Being 15 vs 18 minutes late isn't that big of a deal. Being human, mindful of each other and empathetic is far more important.
Thank you to the groomers for the many years of service.

Really kind and sincere staff. My cat had a little accident, and the team squeezed him in and got him all bandaged up. I’m so grateful for the amazing doctor and staff ??❤️

Took my 2 year old pup Rufus for a check up. Vet was super sweet, caring and patient with my dog. In n out with a breeze and made sure we understood everything about the medication we were taking home. Followed up the next day with a phone call as well to check we needed everything. Get an estimate of payments before any procedures / tests are done that you can approve or not. Will most likely be using City Vet in the future for Rufus' medical care needs.

I have an extremely anxious Shih Tzu and they are so good with him.... extremely patient and caring. And they do a great job with the required paperwork if you're taking your dog to another country.

******DO NOT VISIT***********Words cannot describe the level of treatement I received at this establishment on November 30th 2023. This will be a complete breakdown and review of my experience, and I will never visit this place again. I also work at an international newspaper and am writing an article to warn pet owners.I have lived in the neighborhood for four years, and I stopped by this vet at the end of 2021 or early 2022 looking to schedule teeth cleaning for my eight-year-old dog. I was told they were looking for a doctor to perform teeth cleanings and check back in six months. I regularly took my dog for vaccines and overall checks up, and the appointments were always okay—nothing outstanding, just in-and-out service, which I could appreciate.I noticed my dog's teeth were worsening, so I took him in around September or October this year for a consultation and appointment. While I understand the doctor can only quote an accurate price once they are ready to extract, I was told that the initial teeth-clearing service would be $1,000. For anything additional, the doctor would call before extracting teeth, to which I agreed. I was given a statement indicating his teeth could go up to $3,000, and I will find out on the procedure day.I received a phone call from the technician who explained that his teeth were in bad shape and that the dental work would cost around $3,000. I wasn't shocked and understood, but other pressing life circumstances happened, and I could no longer afford anything beyond the $1,000 teeth cleaning. I let the tech know to proceed with cleaning only. The doctor called me back within five minutes, and the first thing she said to me, not hello, not how are you, was, "What are you doing? What is the purpose of you doing this if you can't afford to pay for everything? My mouth hit the floor. I could not believe a professional healthcare worker called me to scream about my decision on extracting or not. She shamed me for not wanting to pay, questioned why I was doing this, and said she was worried about"money." I just could not understand this behavior. I explained to her I still wanted to clean his teeth as he had never had a professional cleaning and that it was my right to make any changes. The doctor continued to cut me off, speak over me, would not listen, and kept shaming me for not spending the $3,000. She never calmed down and kept screaming to the point that I just said, please clean and hung up the phone.About 90 minutes later, the doctor called me back and tried to give a narcissistic apology by saying, "I am sorry if YOU feel I screamed at you." So now the doctor is gaslighting me with this horrendous experience. Once again, she kept cutting me off while mid-sentence and once again kept discussing "money."At the time of pick-up, I was ushered into a room by a front desk tech and asked to stay in the room with the door closed. Three other patients were being picked up, and none had to remain behind a closed door and wait, so why was I asked to stay in the room with the door closed? I have never been asked to wait in a room while at check-out. EVER.I asked the front desk to have the owners call me ASAP. I was given an excuse that they were sick and would call back ASAP. This was on November 30th, and I am still waiting to receive a call from the owners.I cannot stress if you are in the area please do not visit this place. The level of unprofessional is outstanding and for the fact the owerns have not taken the time to contact me just proves their level of professionalism. We have so many other options in the area.
