My two daughters have attended a total of six formal events in the Capital District, and ALL of their dresses have come from Fancy Schmancy! The service at this boutique is exceptional (the sales staff treat you like a star!), the dress selection is astonishing, and the store is impeccable! Fancy Schmancy is the ONLY store I would trust for these special occasions! Thank you, Fancy Schmancy!!

My recent experience with this store has left me deeply disappointed. As a parent preparing for my daughter’s prom night, I trusted this establishment to provide her with the perfect dress. However, the store’s inflexible policy on returns and exchanges added to our frustration.Despite our sincere request to exchange the dress for one that fit better, we were met with a resounding no. We offered to exchange for a lesser value dress and even pay associated fees, but to no avail.Prom night is significant, and feeling comfortable and confident in attire is crucial. Sadly, the store’s lack of empathy and understanding for our situation was evident.I urge the management to reconsider their stance on returns and exchanges, especially for such important occasions.Our disappointment with this store’s policy has overshadowed my daughter’s prom excitement. It’s clear this establishment lacks the understanding and flexibility customers deserve. As a result of this policy, not only were we left with a dress that does not meet my daughter’s needs, but we were also left feeling undervalued as customers. This is the BEST place to shop - my visit started with a friendly greeting by the most helpful, knowledgeable staff! When I mentioned I had a special event coming up Ashley picked out the most fabulous outfits! I have a policy of only buying clothes I absolutely love and that work for multiple events. The staff have such a great eye for style - they picked out beautiful clothes. I would give 10 stars if I could. ?

The best experience I had dress shopping ever here today April 18th 2024 was far amazing each and every staff member including the owner was by far amazing helped beyond beleaf they helped my niece find the perfect dress and shoes for her first prom I would recommend this place to everyone that wants respectful staff and great service and beautiful gowns hands down nice to meet Susanne, her daughter and the rest of the staff ❤️ thank you so much for engaged and making each of these girl feel special....

I went here to buy my first ever prom dress. I bought a $430 dress with the original designer tag from here. They altered my prom dress without telling me and sold it to me for the original designer selling price. When I took my dress to be hemmed, the seamstress found the dress had already been altered. The alterations made to the dress weren't even good. Whoever originally altered the dress removed the bodice from the skirt to remove the original tulle and then sewed the bodice back on, leaving the original stitches and sewing a weird pocket into the bodice when reattaching the skirt. They even cut the tulle directly off the dress in some places. The underskirt had chalk lines and pin. holes from the seamstress. Not to mention they removed the tulle and didn't adjust the skirt, which makes it hang weird. I thought it just needed to be altered to fit my body, but the skirt hung like that because it was ALREADY ALTERED, and poorly. Then, when we went in to question their policies, the owner insisted that removing the tulle was store policy and made the dress "worth more than the original." Even though other similar dresses my friends and I tried on had tulle under the skirt. I feel taken advantage of, I have never been to an event where I needed a dress like this. I love the color, I just thought that the dress didn't fit right, only to find out the dress I had been promised was "new" off the rack had already been altered. All around, she was rude, especially to my mother. Would not recommend.

Sweet, loving customer service. I went to help my daughter find a wedding dress and what do I see, something so different that I had to get it ??♀️??♀️ well as the saying goes you only live once, but actually you live daily and only die once . So while I’m alive I wanted to see myself in it. And I love it , glad I got it

I had an AMAZING experience!! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The prices were great and very reasonable. They offered us water and chocolate, it was a great experience overall!! Walk ins are available and we arrived early before it got busy and we had amazing luck! I wouldn’t have gone anywhere else! They had an amazing selection of prom dresses very trendy and unique. 10/10 well staffed and very clean!

Fantastic experience with Susanne, who immediately helped me find a gown and was so kind. I told her exactly what I wanted and we found my gown in 20 minutes. It was perfect. I wore it to a fantasy ball in Edinburgh, Scotland and I received so many compliments on it! Thank you for helping me make a fairy tale a reality!

We drove an hour and a half to shop here for my daughter’s prom dress. Your boutique came highly recommended and we were not disappointed and could not have asked for a better shopping experience! Susanne was so patient with my daughter and listened to what she was looking for but also brought her alternative styles and colors to try on. You can tell Susanne has an incredible passion for what she does and is determined to find all her customers the perfect dress for whatever the occasion. She carries an enormous selection of styles, colors, and sizes. I have a formal wedding to attend later this year and I will definitely be back to shop here. We’ve also sent a few others your way because we want them to have the same amazing shopping experience we did. Thank you for an incredible experience - you and your entire staff were fabulous!

I recently had an unfortunate experience after visiting Fancy Schmancy, and I must say that I am thoroughly disappointed with their unethical business practices. My mother and I went there to find a mother of the bride dress for my wedding, and what we encountered left us shocked and appalled. We spent some time trying on various dresses, ranging in price from $300 to $500. Finally, my mother found the perfect dress that she absolutely loved. However, our excitement quickly turned into disbelief when we saw the exorbitant price tag of $1099. It was a little out of her budget, so we decided to leave and have lunch to discuss our options. Being close to Mother's Day, I wanted to surprise my mother and purchased the dress for her later that day. Later that evening my mother called me to inform me that she had found the exact same dress online at newyorkdresses.com for only $330 and had already purchased it. It was heart-wrenching to realize that I had already paid the full retail price at Fancy Schmancy. In an attempt to rectify the situation, I contacted Fancy Schmancy and explained the circumstances. To my utter disbelief, they coldly informed me of their strict no-return policy and showed no willingness to assist or accommodate me in any way. I even offered to pay a restocking fee, but they outright refused to consider it. What made matters worse was the realization that I had paid full retail price for distressed merchandise that had apparently been sitting in their store for two years, as revealed by one of their associates. This clearly indicates a lack of integrity and fairness on their part. I am deeply disappointed with Fancy Schmancy and their complete disregard for customer satisfaction. Their no-return policy is unreasonable, especially considering the circumstances and the fact that the dress had been untouched in its original packaging for less than 24 hours. I will never step foot in Fancy Schmancy again, and I strongly advise anyone considering shopping there to think twice. Their unethical business practices and lack of customer care are simply unacceptable. Save yourself the disappointment and find a reputable establishment that values its customers and provides fair and reasonable policies. It is my hope that this review serves as a warning to others and encourages Fancy Schmancy to reevaluate their practices and prioritize customer satisfaction over profits.

Great shopping experience. Lots of prom dresses to choose from. Friendly helpful staff. Will be back next year for another prom dress.
