Canyon Mortgage was able to help me close on my new home in less than a month! Matthew and Johanna are both consummate professionals that delivered more and faster than they even promised. They answered every call and guided me through this process after I had Citibank botch everything! I couldn't be happier and truly appreciated every step of the process. They deserve so much credit for handling too many issues. I highly recommend Canyon Mortgage.

This review is based off of my personal recent experience dealing with Canyon mortgage , late 2020-2021. - David Weinberger was recommended to us by a real estate agent who claimed to have worked with him in the past, we spoke to many lenders and settled with David because of his seemingly honest and ethical approach to lending to clients. While overall David seems like a nice and helpful guy especially in the beginning of the process, the further we proceeded the worst things became. A lot of things played a role in the delay of our closing, specifically the loan process that we had to deal with going through David ( and Joanna his assistant or processor). After everything was said and done I created a timeline of the whole process just to have a visual understanding of what exactly delayed us so extensively. I found that nearly every single day we had a communication with David. At times we would skip a day and follow up with an email asking for updates as they were never on point with responding. This became a routine. For the next five months of the process. David told us that including one of the shareholders on the loan could not be done but when it was required to have this done by the building management suddenly he was able to accommodate the change. This change set us back weeks and it took him a very long time to correct the issue. In addition to that we had an issue with Johanna inputting our address incorrectly into the documents we had to sign we requested this to be changed immediately after noticing -it took them four months to correct the address after requesting this more than 5 to 6 times. Between emails and the phone calls asking for clarification and explanations this process was exhausting. At the end of it all random fees popped up and no one could explain their origin. David pointed at our attorney and our attorney pointed back at him with no explanation at all. If it wasn't for the delay that David and his team caused we probably would have been living in our new place months ago. Although we did get a great rate this wasn't thanks to David (as he tried to take credit for) this was thanks to our timing because we call around a lot and everyone generally gave the same rate, what made David stand out to us was that he sent us a reasonable cost breakdown from the get-go but unfortunately at the end of it all this meant nothing. We also specifically went with him because he did not insist on us buying points but later on we saw that he did in fact charge us for points without our permission, as a matter of fact a lot of decisions were made on his end without communication or permission from us. When we would address the changes we would get an apology and an explanation or excuse and then it would happen again three times to be exact. His processor Johanna is also someone who will tell you that she works day and night and on weekends and stays late - and that you can call with any questions and yet has failed to respond or answer the phone on many occasions. I also want to add that the blender that David chose for us has been a nightmare and it's only been a few weeks, in addition to that, David has not responded to any of our questions after we closed. We are now experiencing serious issues with the lender David Chose and are unable to receive any information that we need from David nor Johanna because he is not responding to us. After everything that we have been through with Canyon mortgage I have to admit I am a little shocked still, that they are so bluntly ignoring basic questions like what is our loan ID number?. Dealing with Canyon mortgage has been extremely draining and exhausting and the problems are still continuing. Canyon mortgage provided us with horrible customer service and unethical Business practices in comparison to how they approached us on the first day versus five months down the line until our closing date.
