I was bitterly disappointed with this shop. I visited it twice during business hours and they were closed. This shop should either update their business hours on Google maps or add a sign on the door with the actual hours. In all honesty, I won't waste my time coming here again.

I wouldn’t bother trying to go there they are never open. I tried to go twice this week while in the area on vacation and the store was closed during their “normal” business hours.

One bourbon bottle. Not one brand. One bottle. Half a dozen bottles of Scotch. And the shelves were only about 50% full of wines. Prices were high by comparison. The place was a little hard to find. It is in The Mall if you are looking.

i wish i could give 0 stars for the horrible service we had. the workers were rude and so spaced out and distracted we thought they were high. they refused our purchase because our daughter walked in the store (she’s 21) and the alcohol was not for her. they didn’t take the time to i’d her and just refused to sell to us.

Only liquor store without driving and with construction going on and staying at a hotel, it's practically like having a captive audience since getting around is a pain; but they aren't open on their listed hours. Went at 1pm, not open. Came back at 3:30pm, still not open. Update store hours so customers know when this store is actually open

Some bonehead in customer service thinks his crankiness is coming from the outside. I've been coming to Lake Placid regularly for 14 years. I've been in fine wine stores for several decades, as well as the finest restaurants in the world -- REALLY. The woman who is the owner has only ever been the nicest shop owner I've ever experienced. Fine recommendations, and a real concern for your personal tastes. Nothing but niceness. Any reviews to the contrary? The problem must be with the reviewer. And NO, Mr. Snarky, I'm not a friend of the family. In fact -- I am no particular friend at all. I'm only a very satisfied customer. 'Nuff Said.

Just like I read from other reviews just a terrible rude condescending worker there. Walked out without making a purchase just based on how obscenely rude this man was. I'd avoid this place at all costs if you want to get a drink make sure you buy what you need before you visit lake placid. You don't like your job why don't you quit? Clearly this is a pattern with how you treat your customers.

The Smoking Cork has been my go to liquor store for almost 8 years now, with their wide boutique variety and location on Main Street - why wouldn’t it be your go to shop!? Not to mention the owners are local husband and wife who are always willing to go the extra mile to make your experience memorable. The Smoking Cork and it’s companion store Stouts and Stogies have always have a great selection, pricing might be different than large warehouse stores but that is to be expected with a personal boutique experience and well worth the extra dollar! Always willing to go above and beyond, it could be shopping for one bottle or enough to cater an event, Jessie and Jon have got you covered! Best boutique stores in Lake Placid!

Worker there was terribly rude. I was shopping alone with my 6 yo, and the guy told me he had to wait outside. By himself. Hes 6! I was going to just walk out, but asked my son to wait at the doorway while I got a bottle. As I was checking out my son wandered back in and guy said again he had to wait outside. I lost it on the dope and all he could say was "it's my boss rules." Just absurd hes 6 yo I should have followed my gut and went elsewhere. It was totally overpriced anyway. Tourist trap.
