I visited this shop while I was on vacation and really enjoyed myself. The store was well curated with very useful, yet beautiful items. I purchased some beeswax candles and a travel utensil set. The woman who was working in the store was very thoughtful. I look forward to returning!

I never complain or yelp negatively, but my experience in this store made my blood boil. When I walked in the first time, I noticed there was something a bit off about the man at the register who I believe to be the owner. Not very friendly or approachable, but I saw some cute cocktail glassware and decided to make a purchase. Sadly, that evening, the paper bag with the glasses wrapped in tissue paper, lightly tipped over on the dinner table and one of the glasses shattered. I thought it would be worth a try to go back and see if they could accommodate with a solution as the glasses had not even been unwrapped yet. I went back, and the same man was there. He was extremely hostile when I asked if he could help me out in any way. When I mentioned that the glasses were only wrapped in tissue paper, he became very defensive and suggested that I was blaming him for the accident. "It's my fault," he yelled. He very childishly huffed and puffed through the store as he grabbed me a new glass and some bubble wrap. As he handed back the bag, he very rudely said, "don't blame me if you're not careful and it breaks again." Although I don't think it was his fault, I don't imagine the glass would have broken if it had been well wrapped the first time around. To have a grown man yell at me, a young women in my 20s, felt extremely scary, disrespectful, and and sad that this is a world where men think they can speak to women so harshly. Don't recommend visiting if you are looking for a pleasant customer experience.

Terrible customer service, and feeling a bit stunned! While this is a lovely store with lovely things, that is not an excuse for poor customer service. I went here today excited to buy a lot of kitchen stuff for my new home. I was there for a pretty long time, and the salesperson could not be bothered to even say hello the whole time or ask meif I needed any help. Unacceptable and a bit insulting. I sincerely hope that this store's management works to make all customers, whatever their gender or background, to feel more welcome in the future.I wanted to support a local business, but now I'll be going to Amazon instead. What a shame. :(

I have decided to no longer support this business. I had shopped at Blue Cashew for many years--even before they moved to Kingston and were located in Rhinebeck. However, my last experience convinced me that when I support local, I will make sure they are customer oriented and not arrogant. Just before the initial COVID shut down I attended a cooking class at BCK. After the class --and in the spirit of supporting local businesses--I purchased several items, including a Aarke soda maker (which I could easily have purchased online at Williams-Sonoma).Many of the items were not in stock and I had to await delivery. Understandable. No worries. I paid for the items in full. The pandemic hit and when my items did not arrive I decided (that given the unusual circumstances and hardship of an unprecedented situation) to wait patiently. I waited almost 10 months and then contacted the store. Each time someone said they would get back to me. And they never did. I would have understood if they called and said they were still experiencing COVID related shipping delays. I would have understood and been happy to wait. But, THEY DID NOT CALL BACK AT ALL. At this point I had not received approximately $300 worth of purchases. My fourth and final call is what angered me most. The person told me it was my fault the items had not been shipped. He claimed they had sent me an email asking me to confirm my address and that I had never replied. This was blatant B. S. First of all: They never sent me an email regarding my order. They didn't need to because my receipt (filled out in their store) clearly indicated all my contact information. So this was a lie and a stalling tactic. It was also rude and an attempt to throw the ball into my court. Why would you email a customer when they had called you several times? Isn't the point of buying local to support the community and have a more direct and personal contact with a business? I had my receipt. They had everything they needed to ship and to contact me on it. The clerk was just being sassy and unhelpful. And trying to blame me for their lack of follow-through. He was also being a liar. Because an email from them had never arrived in my inbox. The clerk was also sexist. As you are about to see. Finally I did what I hate the most--I asked my husband to call these guys. One call FROM A MAN was all it took to get these guys moving. My husband demanded a full refund for the items we never received after waiting nearly a year. Oh! Yes! It had been almost a year at this point--with all the back and forth. My husband phoned and suddenly it was, "Yes, sir." And "Let us look into it, sir!" And miraculously they CALLED HIM BACK! No stalling tactics. No B.S. stories about emails. We received the items in less than a week following my husband's phone call. Suddenly they were polite and helpful. I will never shop at Blue Cashew Kitchen again. I was willing to support them even though many of the items they offer are cheaper online. And even after they moved further away from where I live. And even during a pandemic -when many local businesses were going under. But they treated me very shabbily in return. It's a disgrace that it took a call from a man (just one call) to get them to fill an expensive order.

The business owners are fabulous and very responsive to any issue one might have with a product. The items they sell exemplify form and function, there are so many wonderful things to choose from! They also have really good cooking classes with accomplished chefs. Love this place!

so much love and care was put into creating this retail space. It felt like visiting an old friend in their home. Shaun was engaging and easy to talk to.

I walked in and the owner was on the phone. I walked around looking for what I needed and couldn’t find it. I stood at the register for a minute before he acknowledged me. Finally he looked at me but didn’t get off the the phone. I asked him for what I was looking for and while still on the phone walked over to a part of the store where they should have been. Finally he told his phone call “I gotta go I have a customer” to tell me they were sold out. It was very rude to stay on the phone while “helping” me. Also the music was very loud for a kitchen store.Response to the owner:I was there on a Monday by myself. No gentleman friend and the lights were bright

Beautifully curated selection of items for your kitchen, and a staff that is well informed and friendly. I took one of their classes with a friend (cooking Chicken and Dumplings with the executive chef from the Four Seasons). It was super fun, a great memory for me and my friend, and I learned some new cooking tips. I tend to get a lot of gifts here, and they always impress.
