I shared similar experience as reviewer Joe C. who mentioned giving them three chances. I would love to shop here seeing as I am the village of Katonah at least twice a week, but why the younger employee is still working in this place despite being extremely grumpy and not at all helpful is beyond my comprehension. The owner is alright and is able to answer questions and offers help, but honestly, as a former shop owner and having worked in a service industry for decades, I cannot excuse unfriendly attitudes and owner needs to fire that guy - I don't care if it's his nephew, son or whoever - because clearly I'm not the only one who finds him extremely rude. I leave that store not only paying significantly higher prices than other local liquor stores, but also feeling like I need to be thanking them for giving me the time of day...because that is how one feels in that place --- as if they are doing us a favor instead of being appreciative of our business. I will not return again. I have gone in there at least 5 times and had the same issue. Honestly, I would rather go out of my way to shop another store. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR, SHOPPERS, AND GO TO SALEM LIQUORS INSTEAD (on Route 35 in South Salem). They appreciate their customers and actually welcome them with a smile! Imagine that!? If there is one thing I cannot stand, it's anyone who works in retail and simply does not get that it's not just about selling and turning a profit. If it's difficult for you to leave your sourpuss face at home, perhaps you ought to be in a different line of business. Let me add one last thing, our office was having an event and two ladies went into Katonah Liquors and purchased quite a bit of wine. It must've been 90 degrees outside and the fellow didn't even offer to help them carry it out. I couldn't believe it when I saw them walking down the block sweating trying to haul all of the wine bottles in their hands and wearing heels no less. Need I say more? Customer service? What service?

Prior to last week I had been going here for 30 years, because of the friendly outstanding service and I like to shop local. NEVER AGAIN! I gave it three tries under the new ownership and was met each time by a grumpy guy who didn't say hello or even thank you after my purchase-and made a big huff and shook his head when I didn't want to use his pen to sign the receipt (I mean we are in a pandemic). Too bad because I buy a lot of wine!
