Today I have to drive to this area while my husband was in surgery. Even though this was not our home library we went in and utilized it to get school work done and play while we waited. It was during the day and there was nobody there. I'm surprised because usually there are at least toddler and preschool each children there during the day with their caregivers. However we were the only ones at this time. The facility was nice and clean they had lots of tables available to work. We found a book that we enjoyed and they had computers and iPads available to play on as well as some toys and coloring pages available. The library staff were friendly and nice. Everything was clean and well kept. Beautiful library!

I love libraries. As a child, they were my happy place, a safe haven where I could read, play and learn. As an adult, I see a library as a public space for the community where people and children of all backgrounds, abilities and interests can come together to learn, grow, and be part of the greater community. This morning I took my two children into the Jericho library and noticed that there was going to be an event for children in the children’s section. When asked to participate, the person at the front seemed to begrudgingly take my kids’ name down and say that ‘it might be full.’ Then she said my 1.5 yr old might be too young. I learned that the event was circle time (why would she be too young for that???) My son, who was tired, was admittedly running and left his seat and a staff person told my Nanny, ‘I will not say it again, he can’t run.’If the purpose was to make us feel unwanted and unwelcome, it was successful. I couldn’t help but wonder if there was a bit of racial bias. I hate to have to ask that but in this world, this time, and unfortunately this community which I have made my home, I have to wonder. I did call to voice my concerns and I did receive an apology, but I’m SO disappointed. The library, especially the children’s area should be a safe, friendly, welcoming haven for all, and it was NOT what my family experienced.

It is clean and quiet. Book selection is good and well maintained. Their self checkout kiosks are easy and convenient. No complaints.

Extremely friendly and attentive staff. The library was in excellent condition and clearly maintained social distancing and sanitation policies. They have a huge selection of titles physically in the library and an even greater amount readily available within a few days through the network of libraries you can access online. When they were still running, this was a great place to come to for community events, especially the ones geared for kids. I'm looking forward to when they open fully again.

I'm here right now doing schoolwork. I like to visit the Jericho library to use the WiFi and change my devices. I don't have to spend any money and it's quieter than most coffee shops. The location is near Whole Foods in Jericho. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is also a park right next door. This is a great place to get schoolwork done if you don't want any distractions.
