This hidden gem in T5 is perfect for when you want to escape the airport without leaving—fresh air, picnic tables, and watching cute doggies. Construction is taking place throughout the summer, but it didn't distract us much. We will be back next time we fly through Terminal 5!

This is such a HIDDEN GEM at JFK’s terminal 5! Although there is currently a lot of construction with the terminal expansion, just to get outside was a treat. Especially if you are travelling with pets. Highly recommended, it’s well hidden, lots of places to sit and get some fresh air.

Opposite gate 28, nice open air place to sit and relax. Good when windy and cold ? no smoking unfortunately.

It's SO nice to have outdoor space after security at JFK. This "lounge" isn't the fanciest of areas — just an outdoor patio with some very basic furniture and a grassy area for dogs — but it's a welcome break from the airport.

Let me first start off by saying this is not a functioning lounge. It’s nearly a hangout outdoor space that just happens to be at gate 28 terminal 5 JetBlue. Which is funny because while walking to my gate (28) I was pissed that it was sooooo far. I’m like dang I’m getting to old for these long behind walls to airport gates lol. I passed the door to the lounge (which I found to be somewhat discreet) I’m not sure most people even know it’s there.I took a seat at my gate and decided I would check it out once I got myself together. It’s a cute spot to get some air and stretch your legs. They offer some table and chair setups so you can also grab a bite to eat and enjoy it there. Which leads me to this caviot. They don’t offer any service. It’s only an outdoor space. This a no smoking area. Access to all passengers which includes dogs.I did smell a faint smell of urine in one area that the dogs occupy. Nothing crazy. The lounge overlooks some current construction projects so the view isn’t all that pretty. It’s cute and worth the experience if your gate is close by.

Very nice spot to spend a layover! Tables and chairs are provided with plants to look at.

this kind of amenity is becoming more and more common at airports. I know San Francisco has one. But it's nice to be able to poke outside and smell a little aviation, kerosene and listen to the sounds of the airplanes coming and going. however, the main bummer unlike most of the ones I've seen that you actually get to view the ramp this one has a view of parking structures, construction and very little else You see the tails of planes and you can hear the noise but that's about it.

I’ve been flying in and out of JFK Terminal 5 for nearly a decade and didn’t know that there was a rooftop lounge until I read something about it online. The door is easy to miss. The lounge has a decent amount of seating and a few tables. If you’re feeling brave you can sit or lay on the artificial turf.If you’re in Terminal 5 and your flight isn’t leaving anytime soon, check out the lounge… if weather permits.

This is a strange little offshoot of the terminal; none of the actual maps or signage in the terminal itself even hinted at its existence, so I was wandering based on something that popped up on the internet wondering if it was actually there. It is, and on some level it's nice that you can get outside and get some fresh air (fresh is a relative term in New York when planes are taking off). However, among the limited seating there were only a couple of electrical outlets, and they didn't actually work. I guess that's fine if you're a traveler who doesn't have any devices you want charged. Which frankly seems like a minority of people in the current year. You'd have to go back inside for water or bathrooms as well. So there's literally just the benefit of being outdoors; no particularly great views, no useful amenities, only limited places to even sit. I've never seen anything like this at all in an airport, to be fair (not that I'm a huge air traveler), but it seems like there is a lot of room for improvement here.

I had already heard about this area but I had never visited it, the gate is in front of gate 28, nice place, it has an area to play with your pets, if you have to wait more than 3 hours for your flight this is the best place to be quiet without the noise of people in the gate, I took advantage of the pleasant breeze and the cool temperature and I ate a wrap in the company of a friend ??
