They have been opening very late the past month. Their opening hours to give hot meals are 12 pm to 1pm. For the past months they have been opening after 12:45pm and closing the doors at 1pm. They have been taking advantage of the people online by having them wait in the severe heat wave for them to open.
The workers and cooks have been coming very late and dont seem to care. We have seen some of them come through the back door after being over 30 minutes late and taken their sweet time. It is now 12:35 on Wednesday July 16 2024 and they still havent opened yet when they were supposed to at 12 pm. There have been people waiting on line since 11am.
Everyone who reads this message go to another pantry or soup kitchen if you dont want to stand out in the heat waiting for 1 hour

Why does this place insist on giving preferential treatment to migrants? I came here last week and one woman was on line with 4 children and they wrapped up 4 plates for her and put it in a bag with extra snacks. This has never been done for anyone else who isnt a migrant. They just get told to hurry up and get shoed away like a fly.
Many of these people are taking resources from people who need it. I have seen some of them use the same meals they get and resell them on Jamaica Avenue and also Liberty Avenue.
Its alot of scamming going on and this Salvation Army does not seem to care at all. The people reselling the food themselves dont seem to care that they are taking food away from other people as long as they can get extra money selling it. Extra money on top of the thousands they are already getting from New York.
I have seen the male migrants who come here be very rude to one of the elder black ladies who was volunteering and told her to hurry up and give him his food.
This place also rushes you to eat and leave like you are a dog.
If you are an American citizen you get treated like trash at this Salvation Army. The Salvation Army in Harlem is much more welcoming

Used to be a good place but recently got bad. Now they only allow you to get more than one plate of food if you are a Spanish migrant. Anyone who is Black or White only gets one and is not allowed to get seconds. They openly admit this and told me the migrants are priority because they are going through a crisis in their country. They told me the Salvation Army tells them to only give one plate of food to the Black people and multiple plates to the Hispanic. The Spanish migrants each get 3 plates, 3 for themselves and 3 for their kids.

This Salvation Army is also used as a soup kitchen where they give out free hot meals here every week here but there is a big problem with migrants coming here and cutting the line ahead of everybody on line for food and taking most of the food for themselves. The migrants will bring their family and friends and have them cut the line every single time they hand out food and the people who work here don't do anything about this. People who come here and wait online, will just be cut in line and even when we complain about it, nothing is done.Whenever they are handing out food, they also always block the entire sidewalk for people who are walking by. They also will get second and third plates for themselves after eating, by again cutting the line ahead of the other local neighborhood residents who did not eat yet.The neighborhood residents have also started calling CPS to the Salvation Army because many of the migrants will bring their underage children with them to get food and most of their kids are old enough to be in school. Their children should be in schoolThey bring their kids to get multiple plates of food for themselves without caring about the other people online who are also there for food.

I came to this place for help with rental arrears in 2022. I had a good experience at first then they started dodging my phone calls emails on getting any help I called the place and went down there nothing. I called one time the man who did my interview said he remembers me then said he will give me a call back I still have not heard from him then one time I spoke to his wife she said he could not talk at this time I think they need to be in investigation against them they never helped me at all.
