I have booked intermediate SUV late of July for rentals period 27 September to October the 1st.
During September I was reading reviews and I was thinking of canceling my reservation and try some other rental company but at the end, I didn't.
Big surprise at arrival. Check in was smooth, 5 minutes top, very friendly girl behind the desk, no problem with my Serbian driving license, no problem with debit card (I don't have credit card). Yes, we were waiting a car for about 40 minutes, but I was fifth customer in line waiting for SUV. Vehicle was practically new, Subaru Ascent, only 5000 miles, perfectly clean, with full tank. No problem during rental period, I left a car at the end of rental period at the same parking, leaving keys inside. After 15 minutes, deposited money was back on my account. And I choose not to pay for plate pass for all days, and 10 days later toll fare (much less then plate pass for 4 days) was charged of my debit card.
I will certainly choose Dollar for my next trip to JFK.

Hello, I have rented a car for October 19-26, 2024, I have read the comments and I am honestly afraid that after a 12-hour flight from Europe something strange is happening to me as in the comments.....
Please, Dollar company, if you think you do not provide a correct service, inform me and I will cancel this service.

Terrible! Save your self the disrespect and go to National. The black lady with the short hair cut that was at the counter on 9/13 before they closed had the nastiest attitude not only to me but the customers before me and then when I spoke with the manager (an older heavy set white guy with a long pony tail and a hertz shirt) he was no better. I have never dealt with a business that had such terrible customer service and would never deal with dollar again.

Price change 4 times while booking. Line out the door. Business moved to a different company for the day without any signage. Got to counter and no cars available.
Client experiences this bad are impressive.

I left the car with a full tank and in perfect condition. They charged me 400 dollars without explanation. I can't get receipts or contact anyone. A disappointment!

Dear Dollar Car Rental Customer Service, I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the customer service my husband and I experienced at the Dollar Car Rental location at JFK Airport today, September 1st, at approximately 9:20 AM. We encountered two representatives at the counter, one of whom, Marianne, exhibited behavior that was shockingly unprofessional. We approached the counter unsure if 24 hours had passed since our reservation was made. Before even greeting us properly, Marianne curtly asked, “Did you book it 24 hours ago?” in a noticeably irritated tone. When she checked our reservation and realized we had made an error, rather than handling the situation politely, she reacted dramatically, raising her voice and asking, “Are you serious?” while casting us dirty looks. When we calmly told her there was no need to be rude, her attitude escalated. She even responded dismissively to me, saying, “I wasn’t talking to you,” which was highly inappropriate and unprofessional. To make matters worse, when we asked if we could speak with a supervisor, she falsely claimed there wasn’t one available. This level of disrespect and dishonesty is simply unacceptable. As a result, we canceled our reservation and will no longer be using Hertz services. I strongly urge you to address this situation immediately, as representatives like Marianne are damaging your company’s reputation. This was a deeply disappointing experience, and we hope steps are taken to ensure future customers are not treated in the same manner. Kind regards, A Former Customer

I rented a car that began showing a low oil level warning, followed by a check engine light and several other warnings shortly after I picked it up. Concerned about the safety and reliability of the vehicle, I immediately called Dollar to report the issue. To my surprise, I was told there was nothing wrong with the car. The representative mentioned that the oil had been changed recently but claimed that the computer hadn’t been reset, dismissing the warnings as inconsequential.
Despite expressing my discomfort with driving a car that was signaling potential issues, Dollar did not offer to replace the vehicle or even to have it checked to ensure it was safe to drive. Unfortunately, I was left with no choice but to continue using the car since I was scheduled to travel the next day.
This was my first experience with Dollar, and it fell far short of what I would consider a basic professional standard. I’m left uncertain about whether I would recommend Dollar to others based on this experience.
