Everyone in the office is nice, swift to respond and generally helpful - I am just rather disappointed with our experience. We were told it would cost around 100-$300 for my husband and I to file together, it ended up being $500+, which we found out when went into sign our completed return. Our tax preparer was not available to speak with us so we weren't able to go over the details of our return, which was disconcerting. We were then told we had to submit payment ourselves to the IRS and NYS, H&R Block not do that for us even if we gave them our payment information. Other tax preparers have been able to do this for me in the past, as well as set up direct deposit for a return, so I am very confused as to why H&R block can not. I submitted payment online and by check, then was called the following day by a different H&R rep, not our tax preparer, saying that our taxes were rejected due to a oversight by our tax preparer. Why would H&R block counsel us to submit our tax payment BEFORE they filed our taxes? We paid so much for a mediocre experience, which is a bummer because I sincerely liked everyone I talked to there - I am just not confident in the filing that was prepared.
