I've never had an email exchange with a gallerist, or any business owner for that matter, that I had with Joanne Henig at Long Island Photo Gallery. After repeated emails to stop, even unsubscribing to this gallery's site, I was still receiving messages from this woman promoting her dubious business practices posing as a legitimate art gallery. When I had enough and sent an angry reply, she began daunting me with messages, calling me names, referring to me as a, "snowflake" This is NOT the way you run an art gallery or treat people. I've written exactly 3 bad reviews on yelp in my entire life, ( and I received my university degree a long long time ago), stay away.

A charming gallery not to be missed. Unique photographic art of local artists of Long Island. It has a friendly warm atmosphere, you won't want to leave.

" I'm an Interior Designer and my client was looking for the perfect image for their great room that would represent Fire Island. We found it at Long Island Photo Gallery. First, we viewed hundreds of images on their website to narrow it down. Then we visited the gallery to work with Jessica and Joanne to finalize our selection. We loved the art work on display and that all the photographers are from Long Island. Rich Iaboni photographed "Beach Walk" the canvas print for the great room, we loved his work so much we bought " 1983 Bouys" as an art print for the study. In addition to Rich labella's "Skiff" and Mike Mckenna's "Contemplating".

As someone who frequently visits Long Island, mainly the South Shore area, I am always amazed at the talented range of artists displaying at this gallery. Between the rotating artwork, the changing exhibits, and the limited edition pieces there is always something new to view. Not to mention the welcoming, friendly staff, who has been helpful to me on countless occasions. They always take the time to answer questions about the art or how the artist presented their work. I always highly recommend this gallery, it's a must see!

I was a member for almost 4 years. When I didn't renew and picked up 42 matted and bagged images, the bags had a sticky substance and mold on the bottom. They stored them improperly, apparently in a damp place, because that's how mold grows, and refused to replace the plastic bags, after several e-mail exchanges where I provided photos and they insisted that the substances on the bags were "dust-like matter" I was also told it was my own fault because I left them there too long. I was sent e-mails that showed other peoples artwork in dirty bags and told that the owners of those pieces had no issues with it. Seriously? In order to sell my artwork, I now have to replace these bags at my own expense because even if the artwork isn't damaged, no one wants to buy something that comes in a dirty moldy bag. And I can't submit them to other galleries this way either. I was surprised and disappointed that after an almost 4 year relationship, this is how I was treated. It wouldn't have been expensive for the owners to replace these bags that became moldy because of their improper storage, but instead, they denied, blamed me, and told me it was perfectly fine and normal. I will NEVER do business with them again.

The owner is friendly and extremely helpful and it's amazing to have a local gallery like this where you can pop in and see art for area artists. They have a good collection and are often changing what's up on the walls, so it doesn't become stale. In addition there are changing themes and photographers can submit stuff for a chance to have their work seen. It's right in the heart of town on Main Street and adds a nice place to pop in while strolling around. They've done a good job creating a welcoming space for locals to appreciate the art that is produced in and around NY and Long Island.
